Volunteer to Tutor Adult Learners Adults in your community are in need of help to learn English and gain basic literacy, math or computer skills that will enable them to succeed as workers, parents and community citizens. When adults reach their educational goals, their families and communities grow stronger. You can help build strong families and communities by becoming an adult literacy tutor. Each year, around 400 adults walk into our adult basic education classes at our Wayzata center. Many of those learners would benefit from help from a volunteer. Twelve hours of training at the Minnesota Literacy Council (MLC) will prepare you for placement with adult learners. There is a minimal cost for this valuable program, and they offer a variety of training dates to work with your schedule. For upcoming trainings visit the MLC website: mnliteracy.org/volunteers/training Contact Cheryl Lubinski at 763-745-6034 to learn more about volunteer opportunities at our center or to find out the next steps after training is completed.
