Without a will the laws of Minnesota and a judge will make all of the decisions. Whether you are married, widowed, single or divorced, it’s important to have a will to make sure that your wishes (and not those of the state) are carried out. Learn about estates and wills and prepare a complete and legal will in class. You will be provided with instructions, a professionally prepared form, witnesses and a notary public - all of the tools necessary to complete this important document before you leave class. The class is for those who have an estate of less than $700,000 (including life insurance) and who do not own a business. Couples need to register and pay individually. Avoiding Probate and Preserving Assets What is a living trust and how can it be used to avoid probate while still retaining control of assets? Discuss alternative methods of avoiding probate and ways to plan for preservation of assets in case of extraordinary medical costs and long-term care. This information-packed and hands-on class includes tips on how to make wise and safe purchases on eBay. Students will learn the elements of effective selling, how to assess demand for your item, establish an eBay identity, price an item, add a photo to a wellwritten description, get higher bids, collect payment, understand the shipping process and avoid beginners’ mistakes. As an option for large or heavy items too difficult to ship, students will learn about “posting” website.

By the end of the evening, students will have the opportunity to bid on or post an item on eBay or Craigslist. Twined Rag Rug Weaving Student says: “Since the class I have made five rugs on the loom you gave us!! They all turned out really nice and my family loves the rugs. We are using them on our hardwood floors and they are so sturdy and comfortable to walk on.”

In the first class, you will learn how to set up your loom for weaving and begin the Twined Rag Rug Weaving technique. The second class will focus on designs and other weaving projects. There will be time to work on, and finish your first rug. In this fun, twoevening class, you will leave with your very own loom and the knowledge to create beautiful pieces for your home, family and friends. Bring with you to class: sharp scissors, one yard of fabric (any type will do) and be ready for a good time. $25 loom/ supply fee will be collected at the first class.

Andrea Lee Formerly a 7th grade English teacher, Andrea Lee has taught adult education computer classes for the last 5 years. She greatly enjoys helping adults better utilize and understand the wonders of today’s technology.

Lisa Murphy Lisa has been training people in the technology field since 1984 when she began her career, training NATO forces on their new PCs in central Germany. Since then, she has taught in the private business sector as well as for adult education.

Susan Howard Susan brings a combined 28 years experience to the Wayzata program: 18 years experience as a computer programmer and over 10 years experience teaching computer applications to adult learners in Community Education and private consulting.

Romaine Turner Romaine provides consulting services for small businesses with her expertise in accounting, business development and personal coaching. An entrepreneur for 15 years, she conducts business trainings and workshops throughout the Twin Cities.

Ron Timm Ron Timm, PhD, has been a professional photographer for 20 years. He is an international photography judge, has taught for over 20 years, is president of the Camera Council and is director of a photography judging school.

Workplace Essentials – New, Improved Curriculum!

Introducing new curriculum for most Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint classes! Labyrinth FastCourse is a practical, professional, hands-on approach for quick skill mastery. You will be provided a manual for classroom use. You may purchase a manual to take home after class, but it is not essential to purchase a manual. Autofilters and Advanced filters provide a way for you to display only data that meet your specified criteria. Pivot Tables let you summarize data in various ways (e.g., sum, average, standard deviation) and instantly change the way it is presented. Picasa: Free and Easy Image Editing Software Picasa is a free image editing software download from Google and is an excellent tool for the beginner. You will examine each type of question and learn strategies for answering specific question types; receive three full-length practice tests divided into 20-minute “doable” workouts; and get a detailed study guide with test question-answer explanations. Motivational instruction and hands-on practice will help you understand your strengths and weaknesses and offer suggestions for post workshop test preparation. We heat the room to about 85 degrees, and you flow! This class is based on moving from one pose to the next using sun salutations and postures that connect to one another.

Vinyasa means following your breath, so with each inhale or exhale, you go deeper or back off or move to another pose. The instructor’s pace will be a bit fast, but as always you can choose your own pace. Each class includes flow, balance, strength, compression, twists, hip/heart openers, core work and a built-in peaceful rest at the end. Your level for this class should be intermediate to advanced.

WISHES Youth Enrichment The WISHES Youth Enrichment program offers a variety of after school enrichment opportunities for elementary school students.

Classes are held at each of the elementary schools. Students can attend classes at any of the schools. Transportation is not provided. Class selections include arts and crafts, science, engineering, music, drama, dance and many others. WISHES catalogs are distributed 3 times per year (fall, winter/ spring and summer), and are sent home with all elementary students. Strings Lessons Wayzata Schools Community Education is proud to partner with MacPhail Center for Music to offer strings lessons for elementary students in grades 2-5. ONLINE REGISTRATION Go to: www.wayzata.k12.mn.us/ces and find “REGISTRATION” in the grey bar, then click on “ADULT ENRICHMENT.” Use your MasterCard, VISA or Discover 24 hours/7 days a week. Set up your account and register for your classes! Call the Registrar at 763-745-5213 if you have any difficulties!

For your financial security, faxed registrations are not accepted.

Register early: Many classes fill up quickly. Register as soon as you receive your catalog! Please register at least one week in advance so class enrollment decisions can be made. Registrations are accepted as long as there is space in the class.

Discounts: Early Bird Discount: Register before September 9 and receive 10% off many classes. Some classes are excluded, as indicated.

UCare – UCare members may be eligible for a $15 discount on most classes in this catalog.

UCare for Seniors members are limited to one $15 discount per year. Members must be on UCare at the time of registration, and through the duration of the class(es). Members need to include their UCare ID number when registering.

Additional fees/materials: Additional fees and/or materials are required for some classes. Check the course description for the amount. Payment is made directly to the instructor at the first class, unless otherwise noted.

Refunds: For most classes, you must notify us 3 business days before the class begins to receive a refund. For cooking classes you must notify us 7 days before the class begins to receive a refund. If you register after these notification dates, you will not receive a refund. Call 763-745-5213.

Photo/Video Use Policy for Adult Enrichment Classes: By registering for a Community Education, Adult Enrichment class, you are giving permission to use your photograph/video in future District #284 publications such as this catalog, print publications/brochures, and web pages. If you do not wish your photograph/video to be used, please inform the instructor prior to the first class.

Fridays at IOCP Wayzata Public Schools is pleased to share space with our good friends at the new IOCP building at 1605 Cty Rd 101, Plymouth. Though everyone is welcome, Fridays at IOCP classes will appeal to the more ... seasoned adult. In other words, if you are 55+, you won’t want to miss Fridays at IOCP. History Series with Dan Hartman!

Dan is an avid historian who explores American history through the lens of the battlefield. Join him as he commemorates the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War exploring each year of the war and it’s major battles.
