eBay & Craigslist 101: Buying & Selling Online This information-packed and hands-on class includes tips on how to make wise and safe purchases on eBay. Learn: • elements of effective selling • how to assess demand for an item • establish an eBay identity • price an item • add a photo to a well-written description • get higher bids • collect payment • understand the shipping process and avoid beginners’ mistakes and “posting” items to Craigslist for large or heavy items too difficult to ship By the end of the evening, students will have the opportunity to bid on or post an item on eBay or Craigslist. Embellish a silk scarf with soft, colorful wool fibers to create a beautiful accessory for spring or anytime you want to add little sparkle to your wardrobe. Twined Rag Rug Weaving Student says: “Since the class I have made five rugs on the loom you gave us!! They all turned out really nice and my family loves the rugs. We are using them on our hardwood floors and they are so sturdy and comfortable to walk on.” Learn rag rug weaving on your own loom In the first class, you will learn how to set up your loom for weaving and begin the Twined Rag Rug Weaving technique. The second class will focus on designs and other weaving projects. There will be time to work on and finish your first rug. In this fun, two-evening class, you will leave with your very own loom and the knowledge to create beautiful pieces for your home, family and friends. Viking Weave Jewelry Viking weave is a centuries old art form that involves hand weaving wire around a mandrel and then pulling it through a draw plate to secure the weave. Once you learn the technique, you’ll be making jewelry pieces for friends and family for years to come. You will receive a kit in class - included in workshop fee. Let’s Hike! Fun, Friends & Fitness We’re the Outdoor Health Club! We are the Outdoor Health Club. We meet Monday and Thursday evenings at a variety of parks, parkways and wildlife sanctuaries to help you do your fitness walking on one of more than 100 local trails around the Twin Cities. Then join us for a healthy picnic or potluck. On weekends, we venture farther away to places like Red Wing’s Barn Bluff, White Water State Park and Jay Cooke State Park. We help you with your fitness walking and diet, and then go well beyond the basics. This introduction includes the first meeting and walk plus three of the nearly 200 outings during the year. We will walk at the first meeting. The Outdoor Health Club has been going strong for over 20 years! Learn the East Coast Swing (ECS), Hustle, and Waltz. The East Coast Swing is also called the Jitterbug, the official “sock hop” dance. ECS is a circular, rotating swing dance that has many wraps, tunnels, and turns. The Hustle is a catchall name for several disco dances which were extremely popular in the 1970’s and include aspects of Swing and Salsa. As Waltz is a smooth progressive dance characterized by long, flowing movements and continuous turns. As you perfect your waltz, you will become graceful and elegant, effortlessly gliding around the dance floor. In addition to these three dances, you will learn the Cuddle, Hammerlock, Kansas City and the Sweetheart. All students in Jay’s classes receive individual attention in a group setting. WISHES The WISHES Youth Enrichment program offers a variety of summer enrichment programs for elementary and middle school students.
