All children/babies enrolled in General Practice will have appropriate recalls in place for the National Immunisations Schedule vaccinations as per the first column in the table above. If a child enrols after the age a vaccine is due, staff will check if vaccines were given elsewhere. If the vaccines are still due, then the recall needs to be manually added to ensure the child is recalled. It is recommended to use multiple different modes of communication – phone call, txt, email and/or a letter PRE-CALL ➢ A pre-call email/letter/txt/phone call to be done 1-2 weeks before the Immunisation is due. Inviting the parents/caregivers to call and make an appointment (if an appointment has not already been made) RECALL 1 ➢ If the parents/caregiver have not yet made an appointment, please phone them to remind them Immunisations are now due. A phone call is recommended at this point to ensure contact details are correct RECALL 2 ➢ If there is still no response, please continue using multiple different modes of communication. Check NOK details and consider also sending a txt to them. Referral to outreach immunisation services Refer to OIS on time as per the last column on the table above. This is to ensure OIS have enough time to find and visit the child in the community. * Please note: Some children/tamariki can be referred as soon as they reach the age an Immunisation is due if you know the whānau will not or cannot attend your clinic for their Immunisations AND they fit the criteria below. 1. All Māori or Pasifika and non-Māori high deprivation children/tamariki due any childhood Immunisation 2. All babies/pēpi of any ethnicity due their 6 weeks, 3 months or 5 months Immunisations ➢ Please notify the parents/caregiver that they have been referred by sending them a txt/email or letter ➢ Referral is made via ImmsNet, if the child’s name is not on the current ImmsNet list then send an email to Imms@bopdhb.govt.nz requesting a referral to OIS – subject line ‘Early Referral’. ➢ Please add any supporting information to help OIS.
