Dear Colleagues, Firstly, the nutrition services department from Tauranga Hospital would like to thank you for your patience while we have been developing the way we deliver our gluten free diet education for patients with Coeliac Disease. We have completed this project and upon receiving a referral, Coeliac Disease patients will now be emailed an educational video which was developed by one of our expert dietitians. This video will be sent to patients along with written information and links for further learning. There are many benefits to this mode of education; there will be no wait times, patients do not have to come into hospital for a face to face appointment and they can refer back to the video at any point, as well as being able to show the video to their friends and family. We also hope this will help in the self-management of their coeliac disease. If a patient does not have access to a computer or email, they can attend one of our quarterly virtual clinics at the hospital. At this stage we do not have the resource to offer face to face follow up for these patients, but we will be providing them with a list of private practice dietitians to contact should they need further support.
