BAY OF PLENTY

HEALTHY HOMES INITIATIVE Extending our service!

Kia ora koutou katoa I hope you are all doing well as we are getting right into 2021! We are well underway visiting homes all over the region again and we have received a steady flow of referrals to visit whānau over the summer period. Many referrers have wisely been asking us to visit homes of hapū māmā in their care, to help prepare their homes to be warm and healthy for when their pēpi arrive. With winter coming up fast, this is a good time to refer through so we can get interventions underway before the cold hits.

Our service has recently been widened to include skin infection—welcome on board Kiri Ora Service! Also, the Gas swabbing criteria has changed from requiring three positive Gas swabs to only one, for 0-14 year olds.

A BIG thank you to the Tauranga Curtain Bank Our wonderful Curtain Bank volunteers have made and supplied over 640 fantastically warm, lined curtains for homes all across the BOP since the programme started (and that’s for just Sustainability Options alone!!!). Thank you so much ladies! We truly appreciate you all, and the time you give to helping our whanau have warmer homes — You’re the best!

Farewell to Sandra Innes-Smith

If you come across any whānau who need help creating warmer, drier and healthier homes, please feel encouraged to send us your referrals - we would love to help more whānau in our region.

Sandra has been a huge part of this service since its inception in 2015 and we are so grateful to have had her along with us on this amazing journey and for all her awesome mahi! She will be hugely missed! Best wishes from all of us here at the BOP HH team!
