Tēnā koutou katoa
The Nursing Council of New Zealand has recently engaged Grant Thornton to conduct a detailed analysis of our service cost model. The report showed that our organisation will generate financial deficits over the next three years if we do not make changes to the Annual Practising Certificate (APC) fees. A recommendation was approved by our Council before Christmas to increase the APC fees by $20 to total $130 per year. This includes the Disciplinary levy and GST and will become effective from July this year. This is the first time the APC fees have been increased in 10 years. We have not made this decision lightly and have conducted a detailed analysis of our cost-of-service model to ensure that these changes are effective for our long-term financial resilience. If you have any questions or would like to provide feedback, please review our fee proposal document. I thank you in advance for your understanding and look forward to working with you to ensure our nurses are trusted to deliver safe care to the public of Aotearoa.
