Seeking GPs for the position of Director, Patients First Limited General Practice New Zealand (GPNZ) seeks expressions of interest from General Practitioners with an interest in information technology systems for the position of Director, Patients First Limited. Patients First exists at the interface between clinical delivery and effective information to enable better care - "better health through better systems". Patients First is a not-for-profit charitable company fully owned by GPNZ. It began as a national programme of work to deliver information technology to primary care and has been incorporated since May 2013. Since 2013 it has built up a strong reputation for delivery of strategy, tools and facilitation within and between primary and secondary care. Patients First holds national contracts that place it as a key part of some exciting national initiatives. The role traverses standards, delivery, strategy and acts as a broker between national and local levels. Patients First operates with a small and nimble team, drawing together expert groups and sector input when and where required to achieve results. Patients First has a small Board who include well respected national leaders in the health sector who are complemented by a multiple disciplinary steering committee. More information on Patients First can be found here. Time Commitment and Fees Paid The Patients First Board meets monthly for two hours usually on the last Tuesday of the month between 3.00-5.00 pm. Meetings are held in-person at Patients First’s offices at 50 Customhouse Quay Wellington, with Zoom options available. The Board usually doesn’t meet in December and January due to the Christmas holiday period. The Board has agreed that fees would be paid by an annual fixed $5,000 (ex GST) fee that is paid monthly. The annual fixed fee is proposed to cover approximately five hours per month for ten months to cover Board meeting preparation, attendance at Board meetings, and a small amount of work between meetings (for example emails, phone calls etc). Patients First will arrange, and pay, for any travel expenses due to Board business.
