Tier 1 Virtual COVID-19 Assessment Funding Q and A’s
Frequently Asked Questions Q.1.
Can practices claim $60.00 although the original PHO communication says our usual co-pay?
WBOP PHO have agreed that practices can claim the $60 flat fee from the date the Tier 1 - Virtual COVID-19 Assessment funding became available on 17th April. Q.2.
Can practice claim for Virtual COVID-19 assessments prior to 17 April 2020 offer?
No, assessments prior to 17 April can’t be claimed. Q.3.
Can practices charge $60.00 for children under 14 as well?
No, the only change to requirements between letters from MOH on the 17 and 23 April is the fee amount claimable. Under 14 year olds were not covered under the initial funding offer as there is no-copayment applicable. Q.4.
Does the $60.00 include GST?
No it doesn’t, fee is $60 + GST Q.5.
What happens with those patients who are assessed virtually for COVID-19, but also have a consultation/script for other issues? Do we charge the patient as usual as well as the PHO?
If the consultation is an assessment for COVID-19 then charge the PHO. Should the consultation then extend to other issues which make it longer than a standard consultation it is reasonable to charge the patient an additional fee in line with your normal practice. Q.6.
Can another Virtual COVID-19 assessment $60 claim be made if a patient needs a further assessment? Yes, if another COVID-19 assessment is clinically required then a further claim of $60 can be made. PHO would not expect this to be a regular occurrence.
