REGISTRATION & INFORMATION Secondary and post-secondary students have the opportunity to take one program or workshop per session for FREE! Two spaces will be available on selected courses on a first come, first served basis with valid student ID. Payment for registration and other goods can be made by cash, cheque, MasterCard, Visa or Interac (debit). Post-dated cheques are not accepted. We know that mistakes happen, but it is necessary to charge a $20 administration fee for any NSF cheque returned. Full payment is the only way to secure a spot in a program. Fee assistance is available through the City of Waterloo Leisure Access program. Contact Heather Franklin at ed@buttonfactoryarts.ca for more information. All refunds will be subject to a $20 administration fee, unless the course is cancelled by WCAC. Refunds for classes and workshops are permitted up to one week prior to the start date. We reserve the right to cancel any program 5-7 days before the start date due to insufficient enrolment. Memberships are non-refundable. Enrollment is limited for all classes and workshops, so please register early to avoid disappointment! As a not-for-profit organization, word of mouth is the best way of promoting our classes and events, so please consider signing up with a friend or spreading the word. Saturday, Mar. 29th, 10-4pm $72 members/ $85 non-members Explore abstract art with art historian, Carolyn Young, and artist, Nicole Waddick. Spend the morning with Carolyn and get inspired by some of the twentieth century’s greatest artists (Picasso, Kandinsky, Mondrian...). Carolyn will demystify the fundamentals of early abstraction (before 1950) and introduce early abstract artist, Sonia Delaunay, whose work embraced colour juxtaposition as a means of conveying light and motion. In the afternoon, learn how to apply the techniques of Delaunay using acrylics with Nicole Waddick and create your own abstract painting that expresses your memories and sensations from a specific place or event. INSTRUCTOR BIOS Bonnie Steinberg, CSPWC, SCA, TWS Bonnie is a popular instructor who has conducted workshops and classes in Ontario and the United States. A recipient of many awards. Bonnie has participated in numerous solo and group shows. Known for her flamboyant and dramatic use of colour, her work has gained wide recognition. She is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Society of Canadian Artists and is a signature member of the Toronto Watercolour Society. Terry Torra was born in Ontario and earned a Bachelor of Fine Art (honours) at the University of Western Ontario. He currently resides in Kitchener. Although he explores a wide variety of subject matter, Terry works primarily with landscape subjects exploring the various visual elements of our provinces’ diverse natural environment in an abstract style. The Waterloo Print Studio is a new printmaking resource for Waterloo Region that is committed to the creation, production and promotion of print media. On Fridays by appointment, the Waterloo Print Studio will be open from 10am-4pm to allow participants with printmaking experience to work under the supervision of a trained printmaker technician.
