Dear Members & Readers, The Women’s Chamber is celebrating its 20th year anniversary, with its members and major corporations who have supported the State Women’s Chamber since May 8, 2002. As its Founder, and CEO, it has been a wonderful journey and I want to share a little of our history. History: The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada (WCCNV) is a womenowned Nevada State Chamber in the state’s 158-year history. The Historical State Women’s Chamber was established May 8, 2002 by June L Beland, who is the owner of ABC Publishing© since 1977. She was introduced to the idea of starting a Women’s State chamber for Nevada by the U.S. Chamber, where she had been a member for over 20 years. What most people do not know is that June Beland invested her own money to maintain the chamber for the first five years until the membership gave the Chamber financial stability and with the help of her own company ABC Publishing©. She used her publishing company to promote the History of our Women’s Bi-Monthly Chamber Business Journal© to help market the members and give them a platform in the media in Las Vegas and Nevada (About local and state news, chamber membership-relocation & visitors’ section). As a State Women’s Chamber, we are non-partisan and do not endorse candidates. We have no political affiliation, nor do we have a PAC. We support women in all areas of business ownership or careers. We also support all diversity in business and local, state and federal offices. Our Government Affair Council Director is Ms. Anita Laruy, who has served 30 years in legal and government arena. We also have a Diversity-Equity-Inclusion Committee and cover all aspects of diversity and its New Director of (DEI) Jan-Ie Low, who hosted our very first Diversity Luncheon in May of 2020 during Asian- Pacific American Heritage Month. At this event had a panel of three top Asian Women in Las Vegas and her Committee members, Ms. Rita Vaswani. As the CEO of WCCNV, I am always promoting all diversity Chambers of Commerce within the State of Nevada. We work with all 45 state chambers in the US, and email our publications to thousands of city chambers as well.

Harry Mason Reid Jr.

December 2, 1939 – December 28, 2021 - In memory of a great man Harry Reid was an American lawyer and politician who served as a United States senator from Nevada from 1987 to 2017. He led the Senate Democratic Caucus from 2005 to 2017 and was the Senate Majority Leader from 2007 to 2015. Reid began his public career as the city attorney for Henderson, Nevada, before being elected to the Nevada Assembly in 1968. Reid’s former boxing coach, Mike O’Callaghan, chose Reid as his running mate in the 1970 Nevada gubernatorial election, and Reid served as Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1971 to 1975. After being defeated in races for the United States Senate and mayor of Las Vegas, Reid served as chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission from 1977 to 1981. From 1983 to 1987, Reid represented Nevada’s 1st district in the United States House of Representatives. Reid was elected to the United States Senate in 1986 and served in the Senate from 1987 to 2017. He served as the Senate Democratic Whip from 1999 to 2005 before succeeding Tom Daschle as Senate Minority Leader. The Democrats won control of the Senate after the 2006 United States Senate elections, and Reid became the Senate Majority Leader in 2007. He held that position for the final two years of George W. Bush’s presidency and for the first six years of Barack Obama’s presidency. As Majority Leader, Reid helped pass major legislation of the Obama administration, such as the Affordable Care Act, the Dodd–Frank Act, and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. In 2013, under Reid’s leadership, the Senate Democratic majority controversially invoked the “nuclear option” to eliminate the 60-vote requirement to end a filibuster for presidential nominations, other than nominations to the U.S. Supreme Court.[1] Republicans took control of the Senate following the 2014 United States Senate elections, and Reid served as Senate Minority Leader from 2015 until his retirement in 2017. Congratulations to Harry Reid on the Harry Reid International Airport, this is an international airport in Paradise, Nevada, and is the main government airport for public use in the Las Vegas Valley. Thank you Harry Reid for all your support, encouragement, being our first speaker at our first luncheon and introducing me to key people when I started the Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

By Dolores Campuzano Pignatello, Women’s Chamber of Commerce Board Member Today, we had the honor of lighting the flame united as one. Today, we had an experience none of us will ever forget. WE: Mary Beth Sewald from the Las Vegas Chamber, Peter Guzman from the Las Vegas Latin Chamber, Sonny Vinuya from the Las Vegas Asian Chamber, Ken Evans from the Las Vegas Urban Chamber, Aviva Gordon-Ioane from the Henderson Chamber and myself, on behalf of June Beland and the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada. is kick off and today, we were a part of that tradition. How cool is that. It was truly an honor to have the opportunity to represent the WCCNV and to have a place in History at our Stadium in its Inaugural Year. The fact that we will have a plaque with our names on it at the stadium as of today is pretty cool. Thank you to the incredible team at Allegiant Stadium for the outstanding Welcome and Hospitality, you truly made each of us feel like rock stars from start to finish.

How Much Do I Need To Put Down? By Tamra Coulter Happy New Year! I hope that 2022 is off to a fantastic start for you and your family. Do you have plans to buy a new home this year? If so, you’re probably thinking and saving for a down payment, but how much do you need? There are many loan options, and you may not need 20%.

Conventional Loans

Have you heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac? These are the companies that provide conventional home loans. If your credit score is in good shape, you’ll only need to put 3% down on your new home

FHA Loans

Are you a first-time homebuyer? Then, an FHA loan might be a good option for you. Generally, you could put as little as 3.5% down.

VA Loans

If you’re a veteran or currently active military, your service is appreciated. Getting a VA loan doesn’t require a down payment.

Tamra L. Coulter Realtor | NVRE# 0175665

USDA Loans

USDA Loans are backed by The US Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Program. These loans are for rural and suburban homebuyers. Check with your lender for income and loan requirements if you feel this is the right loan for you. That’s just a brief idea of the loans that allow you to save a little cash upfront. Of course, a mortgage professional will help you find the best option for you. I work with incredible lenders that can help. If you’re ready, give me a call, text, or reply to this email. I’d be happy to help you with your move.
