The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada© made history in 2002 We are celebrating our 18th Anniversary in Nevada’s 156-Year History. History of Nevada. Nevada became the 36th State on October 31, 1864 WCCNV State of Address June Beland, Founder, President and CEO Opening remarks The growth of women entrepreneurs in the United States has been spectacular. Today, there are still 10 million women-owned firms employing 2.2 million people and generating sales of $1 trillion. However, women are impacting much more than how business gets done in America. They are shaping and redefining the workplace, the nation’s business networks, financial institutions, and our culture. Perhaps most of all, women entrepreneurs are deeply influencing how the business community, public officials and the media perceive and respond to women. Entrepreneur: Business, Diversity & International Resources in Nevada, the members of the Women’s Chamber are women entrepreneurs who are still creating jobs, hope and opportunities in this community. The Women’s Chamber, Department of Labor and the Small Business Administration, along with many community and state partners, are eager to assist the women who are the driving force in our economy. We are here today to help you invest in yourself, grow your business and realize your dreams. (We are proud to be a multicultural state chamber and support all chambers). Today’s Technology is allowing small businesses to compete on a more level playing field with big businesses. It also allows entrepreneurs to personalize their access to the vast pool of resources available to their enterprises. The Women’s Chamber offers key resources; targeted information, supply and diversity, registration for educational programs, and networking opportunities to help you and your business reach their maximum potential. Career: Internship, entry level, management to top executive WCCNV is here to help women and young professionals, no matter what level. Internship is available through chamber members and our community partners in all career fields. Entry level, get the job experiences you need to move up to a better position. Career Woman, WCCNV has partnered with several community leaders with their HR departments and Career Fairs giving you the opportunity to get in front of the right companies that offer careers not just “a job” giving you an equal opportunity for a better position. Management and Top Executives, advance your career to executive position with better pay and benefits through our community partners. WCCNV set up educational workshops and have partnered with our educational members (Schools and Universities) to further your education and get a higher paying position. Mentoring (Our board members (7) have over 249 years of experience) You have the opportunity get free help through our mentoring program with our Executive Board Members. Each Executive Board Member has over 20-35 years in careers and business ownership, free to our members. Ask them how they advanced their career or how they started and grew their business. Closing Statement: I worked long and hard to established a Legacy for all Women, making sure women had a place they could turn to; well today we have grown from an idea to a phenomenal power house, now each and every woman can accomplish whatever they want in life (business-career-personal). In eighteen years WCCNV established all types of programs, workshops, international contacts, translators from 18 different countries right within our own chamber. WCCNV encourages our members to take full advantage of their benefits to assure total success in career/business. Each and every member is part of the chamber, you are not standing alone (We are united not divided), get involved by serving on a committee; take advantage of your services and benefits. As a wife, mother, grandmother, career woman for 19 years and Woman Entrepreneur for the past 41 years, I am a good example that you can have it all, you do not have to sacrifice one for the other. So, go for your dream, I did and I am still here. WCCNV is also proud to work with our members who offer employment or placement for the disabled in our community. Visit the Women’s Chamber website to see how we are involved in the multicultural community and helping women with their dreams and honoring them for their accomplishments. www.womenschamberofnevada.org March 2, 2020
