Message from the.. Founder, President & Chief Executive Officer
Dear Readers & Members, The Women’s Chamber is proudly celebrating its 19-year anniversary with our members and major corporations who have continuously supported Nevada’s State Women’s Chamber since May 8, 2002. As the Founder, President and CEO, it has been a wonderful journey and has an amazing history since its inception. History of the chamber: A Women Owned Nevada State Chamber in its 157-year history. This Historical State Women’s Chamber was established May 8, 2002 by June L Beland, and owner of ABC Publishing© since 1977 to present. Please visit our website for events, information, and advertising at: www. womenschamberofnevada.org. Currently ABC Publishing© is updating its website with our New Intern who is busy creating a new look with many interesting options, information, and is also getting ready to introduce this new website on all social media platforms. History of our Women’s Chamber Diversity News©: News about the Chamber, Las Vegas and Nevada. There is a wide variety of local and state news, chamber membership, relocation and a visitors’ section. As the State Women’s Chamber of Nevada, we are Non-Partisan with no political affiliation or PAC fund on any side. Our members chose their own candidates not WCCNV. We support all women in business, local and state officials, women in all areas of ownership or careers. The chamber has its own Government Affair Council Director, Ms. Anita Laruy who has 30 years in the legal field and government. Anita holds Government Affairs meetings, while the Chamber offers Government Affairs Luncheons during election time. We also have a Diversity-Equity-Inclusion Committee which covers all aspects of diversity with our New Director of Inclusion (DEI) Jan-Ie Low, who will host our first live 2021 Diversity Luncheon on May 14, 2021 during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (May) with a panel of three top Asian Women in Las Vegas. As the CEO of WCCNV I continuously promote all Chambers of Commerce within the State of Nevada, work with all 45 state chambers in the US, and email all our publications to thousands of city chambers around the US as well. 2021 ∫ APRIL

Message from Administrator Marie R. Scrofani
Hello Members, During these uncertain times we are consistently looking to help you with ways to promote yourself and your business. Each issue I will be highlighting a “NEW” option available to all chamber members through your member portal. In the next issue I want to suggest using your Chamber portal to utilize an option called “HOT DEALS.” This option helps businesses promote their products and services to other members. For your convenience here is the link to get started:
www.supportwiki.micronetonline.com/Working_with_Job_Postings/Hot_Deals/Member_to_Member_ Deals#Add_A_Hot_Deal If you feel you would rather walk through the process with me or have further questions about this topic, please reach out to me and I will be happy to help you! In the next issue I will share another option available to you within your member portal. Until then, stay safe and keep forging forward.

BACK TO LIVE LEARNING COVID19 Education Response Overview Governor Steve Sisolak’s easing of restrictions last week has provided an expedited route to reopen our schools and that is how CCSD is proceeding. District staff have been busy working to figure out what the change in restrictions means for our students, to include a date for each grade level to return to schools, along with logistics such as bus routing, food service, COVID-19 testing, and contact tracing. CCSD opening timeline • March 1 – All Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 3 students return to face-to-face instruction under the hybrid instructional model • March 22 – Grades 6, 9, and 12 can return to faceto-face instruction under the hybrid instructional model • April 6 – Grades 7, 8, 10 and 11 can return to face-toface instruction under the hybrid instructional model • April 6 – Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 will return to five days a week for face-to-face instruction CCSD will continue to offer a full-time distance education option to our families who feel more comfortable keeping their children at home.
Athletics & Extracurricular Activities The District is also working to allow students to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities. Spring Sports • Practices to begin April 3, 2021 • Competition to begin April 16, 2021 • The following sports: boys and girls track, boys and girls swimming, boys and girls diving, baseball, softball, boys golf and boys’ volleyball Intramural Fall sports • April 5 – May 1, 2021 Football • Full-contact competition • 20 days of practice culminating in a one-hour intrasquad competition • Football Intramural window is earlier to allow for the yearly helmets and pads to be reconditioned in time for the regular 2021-22 fall season May 3 – 22, 2021 • Sports include: boys and girls’ tennis, boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys and girls cross country and girls’ volleyball • Staggered to avoid forcing students to choose a single sport • These intramural/intrasquad sports will have a 20-day practice/competition window • No spectators will be allowed at any CCSD athletics events • School athletics will follow all guidelines from CCSD, the state, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) • All coaches and adults associated with the team will have to have a negative test before activities begin Performing Arts • Students will be able to engage in live learning and traditional rehearsals • Safety protocols will be implemented to ensure the safest possible return to face-to-face instruction

BACK TO LIVE LEARNING • •
Similar to athletics, students will be permitted to engage in outside of class activities and rehearsals like, marching band, drill team and theater To ensure continued safety of our community, performing arts classes will have the option of engaging in streamed concerts for the immediate future
Reopening schools, bringing back staff and students, and continuing a distance education model requires a lot of logistics and consideration. The District asks for the community’s patience as CCSD works to bring back all students and staff to face-to-face instruction safely. As additional information becomes available, details will be shared with parents via ParentLink, and with all CCSD staff by email. Updated information will also be available online at reconnect.ccsd.net.

I wanted to pass along this video that captures some of my thoughts and observations—as well as my colleagues’—about the 25th Anniversary of Hutchison & Steffen. John Steffen and I started the law firm 25 years ago this month. The Firm has grown to nearly 50 attorneys and over 100 employees who strive every day for professional excellence and integrity on behalf of the clients we are so fortunate and honored to represent. We have been richly blessed, and in turn we have tried hard to be positive forces for good in building strong families and strengthening our communities. I hope you enjoy the video!
