History: The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada (WCCNV) is a womenowned Nevada State Chamber in the state’s 158-year history.
As a State Women’s Chamber, we are non-partisan and do not endorse candidates. We have no political affiliation, nor do we have a PAC. We support women in all areas of business ownership or careers. We also support all diversity in business and local, state and federal offices. Our Government Affair Council Director is Ms. Anita Laruy, who has served 30 years in legal and government arena.
Dear Members & Readers,
June L. Beland
She used her publishing company to promote the History of our Women’s Bi-Monthly Chamber Business Journal© to help market the members and give them a platform in the media in Las Vegas and Nevada (About local and state news, chamber membership-relocation & visitors’ section).
The Historical State Women’s Chamber was established May 8, 2002 by June L Beland, who is the owner of ABC Publishing© since 1982. She was introduced to the idea of starting a Women’s State chamber for Nevada by the U.S. Chamber, where she had been a member for over 40 years. What most people do not know is that June Beland invested her own money to maintain the chamber for the first five years until the membership gave the Chamber financial stability and with the help of her own company ABC Publishing©.
The Women’s Chamber is celebrating its 20th year anniversary, with its members and major corporations who have supported the State Women’s Chamber since May 8, 2002. As its Founder, and CEO, it has been a wonderful journey and I want to share a little of our history.
As the CEO of WCCNV, I am always promoting all diversity Chambers of Commerce within the State of Nevada. We work with all 45 state chambers in the US, and email our publications to thousands of city chambers as well.

Of the 225 respondents looking to start a small business or a scalable startup, 58% claimed that securing financing is one of the top three challenges they encountered while attempting to start their business in Nevada. When it comes to developing a business strategy, 54% of those same respondents said that creating a business plan and/or comprehensive marketing strategy posed a significant challenge to the success of their small

Starting and growing a business is challenging enough without outside influences. As they did before and during the pandemic, small business owners continue to be our innovators and problem solvers, and the Nevada SBDC plans to be right there with you to help you overcome your challenges.
funding continues to be elusive for businesses in Nevada. While this is nothing new, it puts startups in the uncomfortable position of paying a lot more to get up and running, especially in our underserved communities. Knowing what businesses need is important to everyone, and we plan to use this invaluable data to guide our future efforts to support and sustain new ventures in the Silver State.
The anonymous responses collected in the survey were also illuminating. “It’s hard to get funding for my business because I don’t have a large amount of revenue coming in,” claimed one anonymous Nevada business owner. Others had frustrations with educational resources and supplier issues. “It would be nice if when you start a business you got a checklist of things you might get fined for,” said one owner, while another lamented that “supply chain disruptions have caused huge headaches. We have had to find multiple suppliers for similar products and sometimes at a higher price. This definitely has affected the bottom line and our abilities to offer other incentives to our team.”
- A letter from Winnie Dowling, Nevada SBDC State Director The Nevada Small Business Development Center (SBDC) recently released our 2022 Small Business Challenges Survey, and the results showed that entrepreneurs interested in starting a small business in Nevada are still facing significant challenges in securing debt and venture financing, as well as having difficulty in developing their businesses, such as creating a business plan and marketing strategy.
More than two years after the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic, these survey results show that Nevada small businesses owners have moved beyond the pandemic fallout and are now focused on adapting to the post-pandemic challenges of inflation, employee attraction and retention, and business growth in an unsettled economy.

was a significant challenge, and 47% said that developing a business expansion plan and finding new customers posed an issue. Other challenges included hiring and retaining employees and navigating government regulations.
The survey results also showed that existing businesses have been affected by inflation and rising energy costs. Nearly 50% of the 486 existing business respondents claimed that inflation

Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the culture and contributions of Americans tracing their roots to Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Spanish-speaking nations of the Caribbean. The observance was born in 1968 when Congress authorized the president to issue an annual proclamation designating National Hispanic Heritage Week. Two decades later, lawmakers expanded it to a month-long celebration, stretching from September 15 to October 15
