Among her many achievements, in 1973 Tichi founded the highly regarded professional networking entertainment industry organization, Women in Film, which now has chapters in over twenty countries around the world. She also created the Key Art Awards to recognize outstanding artists in motion picture and television advertising and promotion,. She funded countless scholarship programs and contributed with both time and financial support to a variety of philanthropic organizations.
Tichi was a major force behind the preservation of historic Olvera Street and in 1996 was awarded the Hero of Los Angeles Award by the Hispanic Women's Council for her humanitarian efforts.
She founded and chaired the Beverly Hills-Cannes Sister City committee and received the Order of Arts and Letters from French President Mitter and, later, the National Order of Merit from President Jacques Chirac.
On July 13, 1989, Tichi received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a fitting tribute to the impact she had on the entertainment community.

Since 1977, WIF has held an annual event celebrating women who are making a critical impact on the entertainment industry. Due to the pandemic, we have not been able to gather in person since 2019, but we are thrilled to announce that on October 6 we will be together for WIF Honors: Trailblazers of The New Normal at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.
This new format honors women who are working together to reimagine a workplace where people support each other with compassion, innovation, and a renewed commitment to equity across intersectional identities. The WIF Crystal Award will be presented to Marlee Matlin and Siân Heder, for setting a new precedent for representation and accessibility in front of and behind the camera with their film CODA; to Zendaya and Ashley Levinson, for disrupting the imbalanced traditional systems of compensation and ownership with the shared equity model of their film MALCOLM & MARIE; and to Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, for their performances on“Hacks”thatbringtolightissues WIF has been addressing for decades: sexism, ageism, and harassment in the entertainment industry.
“We are honoring these pairs of women with the Crystal Award to reflect the collective effort it takes to transform this industry into one that rewards equality and succeeds as it becomes more inclusive. Even in the most difficult of times, these women have taken steps forward towards a more ideal future.” Kirsten Schaffer, WIF Executive Director.
Read more about the WIF Honors at The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Deadline. Thanks to our sponsors Max Mara, ShivHans Pictures, Lexus, Apple TV+, Google and STARZ who make our work possible. For information about how your company or organization can participate in supporting WIF at the event, contact Director of Development Courtney LaBarge Bell.
