Dear Women's Chamber of Commerce of Nevada, our Host Organization for Nevada In light of the many recent changes impacting ATHENA communities around the world we wanted to reach out. During this time of uncertainty, we are sure of one thing! We can continue to use our toolkit, the ATHENA Leadership Model principles of living authentically, learning constantly, advocating fiercely, acting courageously, fostering collaboration, building relationships, giving back and celebrating, to help us navigate these challenges. "How do you lead through a pandemic if you have no experience doing it? My family and I navigated 9/11/2001 and the 2002 SARS pandemic while living in Lumpur, Malaysia. Over these next few days, I’m going to share some of my lessons learned to hopefully help my friends and community navigate this scary time. I am by no means an expert, just one mom, wife, global citizen and leader that wants to give back what she learned during a challenging and wonderful period of my leadership journey. Hindsight is 20/20 and makes leaning into my toolkit, the ATHENA Leadership Model, as relevant today as it was then," - Andrea Stevenson Conner, ATHENA International President. At ATHENA International, we are paying close attention to recommendations from the CDC. We encourage you to follow their guidelines for scheduled ATHENA events at www.cdc.gov. Please note that licenses are annual, and should you need to postpone your event, we are more than happy to assist and support you. With that in mind, we do need to alert you to an issue with our phone service. We are in transition from one service provider to another which has been delayed with the additional stress on all technology systems caused by the virus. For the fastest response, please use email. We aim to address your response within 24 hours. If your issue is urgent please add “Urgent” to the subject line. Team ATHENA is a virtual team. We are accustomed to working remotely and look forward to supporting you during the dynamic times were are in at the moment. We will continue to work normal business hours to support your existing programs and inquiries during this time. Our team has all the tools and resources necessary to continue supporting, developing and honoring women leaders as always. Sincerely, Team ATHENA NOTE: All ATHENA International past recipients if you are trying to reach ATHENA it will take time. 6 Weekly News Brief

Brenda Gayle Bryant Knowledge is Power – NOT! Have you ever heard that knowledge is power? Not true. It has to have real action attached in order to be powerful. If you are like most of us, you learned something that you used rarely or never used at all. Did that knowledge help you? Probably not. But if you learned something that you put into good use, that knowledge is powerful. Remember that knowledge by itself becomes useless. Knowledge put to good use – what a powerful tool. Chamber Education Director Brenda Gayle Bryant is an IOC certified business coach and financial trainer with over 30 years of extensive business experience. She owns the gayle group and her services include financial literacy education to businesses, individuals, and families. Brenda is also a speaker and trainer on business planning, management techniques, and coaching.

WHAT A REALTOR REALLY IS
Based on what you see on TV, you may believe Realtors are concerned only because they can’t sell homes or hold open houses. The state has labeled residential real estate “essential” & let me explain why... it’s not about “sales”. In reality, our government & the real estate industry are much more concerned about people with these sorts of challenges: A mother of two boys who just lost her husband in a horrible car accident. They didn’t have life insurance. She realizes she can no longer afford the home they live in. That mom desperately needs to sell the house and get a smaller one in the same school district because she doesn’t want the kids to be further traumatized by losing their friends right after just losing their dad. The 80-year-old couple who just moved into a small condo to cut expenses and put their 4-bedroom colonial up for sale. They lost most of their life savings this month in the stock market crash. They must now sell their previous house immediately because they need the proceeds of that sale to sustain them financially. A couple with an infant daughter who has special long-term medical needs. They must move closer to the hospital that specializes in the type of

procedure required to heal their little one. They need to move now. A woman and her two small kids who have been in an abusive relationship and finally had the courage to say enough is enough! Her priority is to get her kids to a safe home, she needs to move now. A family’s house burned down - they lost everything they own .. including their dear family pets.. and they’ve just received their insurance payout & need to find a home to buy ASAP. TV concentrates on the glitz & glamour of our profession. In reality, Realtors serve many people through some extraordinarily difficult times. Death, divorce, sickness, job loss - an ENDLESS list. I don’t talk much about these people and their situations as I’m simply not able nor do I want to for privacy purposes and frankly it is not about me, it’s about them! Situations like those mentioned above & others are taking place right now all over the country. I promise you this is about serving my clients, not sales.❤ While this is not my original post it is spot on and I’ve added some of my own input. Bless you all!!!
