Historical Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada Special Issue | June 2015
Women’s Chamber Turns “13” Message from the Founder, President and CEO The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada® is taking the next 2 steps in reaching its full potential as a Brand New established State Chamber since 2002. When starting a state or city chamber it takes 15 years to reach full corporation status (It needs 1600+ members). WCCNV covers the state of Nevada and headquartered in the most populated area Southern Nevada. But our chamber is a State Diversity Chamber opening doors for women within all types of careers, ownership, government and politics and all the leads and contacts they will need to succeed. Our chamber of commerce investor was myself, I invested in women so they could succeed in there career or business like I did back in 1977. Do you know about Chambers of Commerce? A New State or a City Chamber steps for Accreditation Levels are: Level 1: Patriarchal Chamber Level WCCNV reached that level Level 2: Entrepreneurial Chamber Needs: 300-700 members (Our Chamber is way over the half way there) we need 271 more members to move up to the next level) if each member told one person we would be at the Directed Level. Level 3: Directed Chamber Level, need: 750 to 1400 members Level 4: Corporate Level need 1600+ members (I would like to see us at this level when we reach our fifteenth year in 2018). 2015, we are now at Entrepreneurial Chamber Status, this level is a little larger but gets more complex, and should have 350-700, WCCNV has 479 so we are at the level we should be, but have a ways to go. We have enough money to hire two part time contractors (IT and graphic/web person), but as the founder, president and CEO I will not see a return on my investment until the membership reaches 700. As the President/CEO, executive board members and board of advisors we are all responsible for every activity of the chamber and recruiting members to the chamber to reach our ultimate goal of 700 members. The President/CEO has earned the respect from peers, business community and State of Nevada therefor has the freedom to act on certain projects. At the lower end of this range for this type, the president and CEO will only have a limited staff or perhaps one personal assistant. CONTINUED on page 4 2015 Is a good year for Women in Nevada!

Politics What is the Nevada Caucus? The Nevada caucuses began in 2008, reflecting the growing importance of the West as well as Nevada’s electoral bellwether status. In 2012, the Nevada caucuses were the third major electoral event in the nominating process for President of the United States, though little attention was given to the contest. In 2016, Nevada will gain more prominence by holding its vote directly following South Carolina, with the hope of giving the West a greater voice in the process.
