Message from the President and CEO of the Nevada Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Publisher of the Women In Power Business Magazine© Women’s Chamber update: On March 17, 2020 our world came to a grinding halt due to the Coronavirus. This year the chamber celebrates two events: Their 2020 quarterly issue of (WIPBM) Women In Power Business Magazine© and their eighteenth-year anniversary as the Nevada State Women’s State Chamber of Commerce in Nevada’s history. The Women’s Chamber was unable to hand out the magazine or host the Women’s Hall of Fame event on March 27, 2020 as that was cancelled. Here we are in September with no event or magazine since that time, outside of our WeeklyNewsBriefs© keeping everyone up-to-date with COVID-19 and our daily lives. We will be mailing the WIPBM to all Top Ten Women in the Women In Power Business Magazine© and to all the Women Women’s Hall of Fame Inductees to be honored in March 2021. Although our WIPBM Women In Power Business Magazine© never reached our event guests and our inductees, this issue included a National cover story of Susan Au Allen, founder and National Headquarters CEO and National President of the United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce and Education Foundation (USPAACC) with a group of business and civic leaders in Washington, DC and California. This issue also included The Top 10 women in Nevada: Page Candee, President of public relations 10a Media and is also the founder of Dress for Success, Nancy Houssels, Co-Founder & Board Co-Chair, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Shellie Hunt, President and Chief Executive Officer, Women of Global Change, Terri Janison, President & CEO Grant A Gift Autism Foundation, Paula Lawrence, Executive Director, Dress for Success Southern Nevada, Marta Meana, Ph.D. President of UNLV, Judge Nancy Allf, Eighth Judicial District Court, Sharry Quillin, CFO, Quillin Adverting, Public Relations & Social Media, Kyle B. Technology Proposals Sought Allowing Employees to Receive Emergency Alerts, Be Able to Work Remotely Announcement Part of ‘Startup in Residence’ Program As part of a Startup in Residence Program, Clark County has asked interested vendors and organizations to submit proposals as part of a civic challenge that furnish: • A comprehensive, effective, and robust solution to provide emergency alerting to County personnel via message scrolling across laptop or desktop screens as well as mobility solutions such as phones or tablets, and • A toolkit of solutions to enable County employees to work safely and efficiently while working remotely. “We are excited to partner with City Innovates Startup in Residence program (STIR), which allows us to collaborate with emerging technology companies,” said Clark County Chief Information Officer Nadia Hansen. “We are looking forward to developing solutions to address the most pressing challenges of our time.” “We are thrilled to support Clark County’s efforts to explore the future of remote work for government,” said Katy Podbielski, STIR Customer Success Manager at City Innovate. “What’s particularly great about these opportunities is that the County is seeking one specific solution for the emergency alert challenge, and an open call for all types of remote-work tools. The County is collecting applications through an online form. This approach makes it easier for small business vendors to propose their ideas and solutions; and at the same time, enables the County’s IT department to learn what kinds of solutions are out there.” Interested vendors and organizations can learn more about the projects and submit proposals online. Applications are due Sept. 4. Information about the emergency alerting challenge may be found at https://www.cityinnovate.com/challenge/ emergency-notification-system-for-county-staff. Information about the remote work proposal may be found at https://www. cityinnovate.com/challenge/remote-work-toolkit-for-county-employees. Since 2014, nearly 80 businesses from around the world have provided technology solutions to cities, counties, states, MPOs, and transit agencies including San Francisco, Long Beach, Syracuse, Kansas City, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, and San Jose. Examples of previous projects include streamlining the foster care application process, homeless health services, creating volunteer engagement processes, and developing tools to prepare for emergency response. All STIR projects aim to provide improved tools and services to constituents, or provide government staff with tools so they can provide better service to constituents. Clark County news releases may be found at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov. You may also follow the County on more than 40 social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Next Door, Pinterest and YouTube. 8 Weekly News Brief

#StartWith8Hollywood Program Offers New Hope for Women of Color in Hollywood --The Hollywood Reporter
The 45th Annual Gracie Awards Announce All-Star Virtual Experience Happening Live on September 10th
It started with a hashtag. This summer as nationwide calls for racial and social justice hit a fever pitch, Thuc Nguyen, founder of The Bitch Pack, and Cheryl L. Bedford, founder of Women of Color Unite, teamed on a new mentorship concept to help pump Hollywood’s diversity pipeline. #StartWith8Hollywood began as a social media campaign that has since turned into a grassroots diversity, equity and inclusion program, based on a simple premise: established industry professionals pledge to give time and insight to eight women of color to help them further their careers.
FX To Have A Majority of Diverse & Female Directors In 2021 As John Landgraf Lays Out Latest Diversity Data --Deadline
Program will Feature Performances by Mickey Guyton, Special Award Tribute by Dr. Sanjay Gupta to Frontline Journalists Bringing COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter Coverage to Homes across America, and Grey’s Anatomy’s “Silent All These Years” Episode will Receive a Stand-out Moment. The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) announced the 45th annual Gracie Awards program will air live on AWMF’s Facebook page on September 10, 2020 at 7pm ET/PT. The virtual event will recognize esteemed honoree Katy Perry, who will receive the Gracies Impact Award, which is presented to an artist who has made a positive impact on society through their music. Dr. Sanjay Gupta will deliver a special tribute to frontline journalists who covered breaking news regarding the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement, and some of the most talented women in television, radio, and digital media will be honored for their incredible contributions to media this year including Naomi Watts, Michelle Williams, Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler, Tamron Hall, and Angela Yee.
Diverse directors and female directors are set to make up 63% of FX’s productions in 2021 – the first time that white male directors will not be in the majority. This stat, which will see white male directors make up 37% of its shows next year, was revealed by John Landgraf during a keynote session at the Edinburgh International TV Festival as he lifted the lid on the cable network’s diversity strategy. This is a marked improvement on five years ago, when white men made up 85% of its directors.

Condé Nast Taps Book Veteran Dawn Davis as Bon Appétit Editor-in-Chief --Variety
Condé Nast named Dawn Davis, a 25-year veteran of the book publishing business and a prominent editor in the field, as editor-inchief of Bon Appétit. Her appointment comes after the June ouster of former EIC Adam Rapoport amid allegations of racial discrimination at the food-media brand. When drivers turn off Las Vegas Boulevard to enter the Mirage property, they’ll now be turning onto Siegfried & Roy Drive. The street was named today in honor of longtime Las Vegas performers Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn. The famed magicians performed packed shows at the Mirage from 1990 to 2003. Horn died earlier this year at age 75 from COVID-19 complications. “I’m touched by this honor and I know Roy, if he were here, would love to see our names permanently placed above the Strip,” Fischbacher said in a news release. “The Mirage was our performance home for so many years and this city has always meant so much to both of us,” he said. During a ceremony today, MGM Resorts International CEO Bill Hornbuckle lauded the duo, saying their show “played a tremendous role putting the Mirage on the map.” MGM operates the Mirage, which opened in 1989. The resort is home to Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, which has more than two dozen rare big cats and dolphins. Weekly News Brief 21
