STEPHANI ORTIZ 2017 ATHENA International Young Professional Leader Recipient Creative Director Stephani Ortiz has been designing thought provoking visual art for over a decade. After receiving her Bachelor’s in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Las Vegas, she applied her passion for functional art with movement to a wide range of projects for apparel, marketing and local broadcast companies like NBC News. Skilled at capturing and transforming story into interactive visual branding, Stephani’s designs have been showcased on the weekly news and also featured in interactive virtual training video modules for some of the top educational and professional speakers from around the world. Stephani ties Cast Design Team together with her wide ranging experience in design and ability to genuinely connect with clients and collaborators to design one-of-a-kind graphics that help businesses stand out in a digital age.

Punam Mather Kicking off the 2018 ATHENA International Awards is the Inaugural ATHENA International Award recipient from the Nevada Women’s Chamber of Commerce (2004) Currently, Punam serves as Executive Director of the Elaine P. Wynn & Family Foundation, a private foundation that exists to advance fundamental change, primarily related to equity, civil rights and conservation. She also operates her own business as a speaker, trainer and writer. From 2009-2012, she was an officer of NV Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NVE), a vertically-integrated statewide electric utility with 2,700 employees, serving as vice president of people resources and as vice president of employee and community engagement. She joined NV Energy following 13 years in the gaming industry, most recently serving as an officer and senior vice president, corporate diversity and community affairs, for MGM MIRAGE, now MGM Resorts Int’l (NYSE: MGM). During her tenure, MGM MIRAGE received numerous awards in her areas of responsibility, including being ranked among the “Top 50 Companies for Diversity” by DiversityInc magazine, one of the “Top Corporations in the U.S.” for multicultural businesses by DiversityBusiness.com and as one of the “Most Admired Companies in America” by Fortune magazine. Additionally, under her leadership the Company’s philanthropy program, including its centerpiece employee-directed foundation, set new standards for strategic philanthropy and employee engagement within the gaming industry. Prior to joining the gaming industry in 1996, she had been with the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce for six years, holding a variety of management positions, the last of which was Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. Mathur attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, studying elementary and special education, from 1979-1983. Mathur has received appointments to statewide leadership positions by Nevada’s last four Governors: • Governor Brian Sandoval (R) appointed her to the Common Core Steering Committee in 2013 and to the Board of Jobs for America’s Graduates in 2014. • Governor Jim Gibbons (R) appointed her to the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Education Reform in 2010. • Governor Kenny Guinn (R) appointed her to the Commission on Tourism in 2002. • Governor Bob Miller (D) appointed her to the Welfare Reform Task Force in 1994. A champion and advocate for public education, she has a long history of involvement with the Clark County School District, the fifth largest district in the nation, having served on a lengthy list of committees and special task forces over the years. She also works closely with the NV Department on Education in a variety of roles to advance the ball on education reform in Nevada. Mathur was the founding board chair for Three Square, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating hunger in southern Nevada. She has served on the Board of the United Way of Southern Nevada for over two decades. She is also active in a number of organizations to improve the effectiveness of the child welfare and foster care systems.

SANDRA ROSCHE 2017 ATHENA International Leadership Award Recipient Roche Constructors, Inc., a commercial general contractor, is based in Greeley, Colorado and has had an office in Las Vegas since 1986. She has been with Roche, a family-owned company, more than 24 years, with 21 of those years in Las Vegas. She is extensively involved in business, community leadership and charitable organizations. Sandra serves on the boards of the National Associations of Women Business Owners of Southern Nevada, where she is the 2017-2018 President, the Associated Builders and Contractors of Nevada, where she is Past Chair, and she is a Governor appointee to the Nevada OSHA Review Board. She is a Colorado State University graduate and earned her law degree from the University of Denver in Colorado.

Laura and Kevin Fairchild Storage West

Laura and Kevin Fairchild have been married for 39 years. They have two daughters and four grandchildren. They are a dedicated professional team with exceptional leadership, team building, sales and interpersonal skills. For the past 13 years, they have worked for Storage West as Facility Managers, Trainers, and now Community Relations Team. They believe that building a stronger business is about creating a better experience. It’s more than just delivering quality service; it’s connecting with your customers and the community. At Storage West, they learned that the real value is taking care of people and great businesses are built around those people and the customers they serve. They are involved with several Chambers and carry this belief with them in their work within the Chambers. Their energy is remarkable and their enthusiasm contagious. If you don’t know Laura and Kevin Fairchild of Storage West, you should. Look around the corner, they are practically everywhere. As the A-Team Ambassador Directors of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada, they volunteer their time to the Chamber and work closely with the President, CEO and Founder, June Beland.
