New in 2018 Membership Level (Open to women and men) Trend for 2018 and beyond is helping 1099 workers; this trend has increased more and more since 2016. Small companies are cutting back on personnel and hiring more 1099's....who are independent contractors. You also have more Moms working from home to save on cost of daycare, Stay at-home Dads now and retirees that need to supplement their income. NOTE: This is a membership level with WCCNV that you can afford even start-ups. (WCCNV Executive Board Approved in Fall of 2017) we do not give legal advice, this is a New Membership level only for you to market the service/and or product you provide, not the company name (very inexpensive), need proof of a 1099 only. They are left out of the Chamber of Commerce membership base as a 1099, WCCNV has developed a membership level for your classification without the large fees. •
Independent contractors
• Sub-Contractors • “Work From Home” Customer Service Reps • More outside sales positions • Insurance companies are making agents pay for their own membership with Chamber of Commerces and other organizations to network and build clientele. TO: Nevada State Women's Chamber of Commerce FROM: Silver State Health Insurance Exchange - what's next? Feb. 2, 2018
On December 15, 2017, the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange (Exchange), Nevada’s state agency that helps individuals obtain budgetappropriate health coverage through the online marketplace, Nevada Health Link, ended its fifth Open Enrollment season with record-breaking results, enrolling 91,003 Nevadans. This milestone included 27,936 new enrollees and 63,026 returning customers. Despite the volatile market and various obstacles—including a shortened enrollment period of only six weeks, Healthcare.gov's system shut-down on Sundays, federal budget cuts to marketing and outreach, and the departure of two carriers from the Nevada marketplace—the increase in Exchange enrollment demonstrates that Nevadans recognize the importance of seeking health coverage to protect themselves and their families. The Nevada Exchange’s success over the past year, demonstrates the importance of having state-based controls. The Exchange is collaborating with the Division of Insurance to ensure previous Prominence and Anthem consumers know of a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) that enables them to enroll in a different plan on the marketplace until March 1. Inperson assistance with an enrollment specialist is available year-round, so consumers should make an appointment today.
February 2018
In the next several months, the Exchange will begin the process of transitioning away from www.healthcare.gov towards a proven and functional technology platform for eligibility and enrollment purposes. The Exchange predicts its new system will be up and running in spring 2019 and ready to be utilized for plan year 2020. This technology platform will allow for significant state savings while providing a more customer friendly experience. Open Enrollment doesn't return for several months, but strategic planning and discussions with stakeholders are already underway. The Exchange is having conversations with other state based exchanges, gathering insight on other processes and best practices that may be successfully implemented in Nevada, and other states are turning to Nevada as a model state. The Exchange is optimistic these meetings, along with the transition onto a private platform, will help Nevada stabilize the individual marketplace and increase market competition which will likely lead to lowered costs for Nevada consumers. With the passing of the tax bill, the individual mandate will no longer be enforced beginning in 2019. The Exchange urges consumers to keep in mind the value of being protected—most people simply can't afford not to be insured. Certain changes in an individual’s life can make them eligible for a special enrollment period (SEP) and allow them to enroll at any time during the year. Examples of qualifying life events include loss of employer-based coverage, changes in income and changes in family size through marriage, divorce or the birth of a child. To find out if you’re eligible for an SEP, visit WWW.NevadaHealthLink.com .

National Women's History Month - March 2018 National Women's History Month was established by presidential proclamation in order to draw attention to and improve the focus on women in historical studies. It began in New York City on March 8, 1857, when female textile workers marched in protest of unfair working conditions and unequal rights for women. It was one of the first organized strikes by working women, during which they called for a shorter work day and decent wages. Also on March 8, in 1908, women workers in the needle trades marched through New York City's Lower East Side to protest child labor, sweatshop working conditions, and demand women’s suffrage. Beginning in 1910, March 8 became annually observed as International Women's Day. Women’s History Week was instituted in 1978 in an effort to begin adding women’s history into educational curricula. In 1987, the National Women's History Project successfully petitioned Congress to include all of March as a celebration of the economic, political and social contributions of women.
