Big Blue On The Rise? By Matt Jones The big blue nation is on the verge of something big. The 2014-15 season is looking good for the wildcats. UK had a strong 2-1 start and their only loss coming to the Florida Gators in The Swamp. They have already tied their record for last year and is looking good to beat both of their rivals Tennessee and Louisville. With possible wins coming over two more SEC schools with Vandy and Mississippi St. because they are playing at an equal level with UK. Here we will take a look from the uk roster to future commitments and high hopes starting with the most important members of the team offensive and defensive line. LT Darrian Miller 6-5, 292lbs., LG Zach West 6-4, 318lbs., C Jon Toth 6-5, 301lbs., RG Ramsey Meyers 6-4, 300lbs., and the big RT Jordan Swindle, he is 6-7, and 306lbs. Last year UK was 13th in the SEC in rushing and gave up more sacks than anybody in the SEC. This year the UK coaching staff can have some faith in the O-line as four of the lineman are returning starters.
This should prove to be more exciting for the fan base at home and at Commonwealth Stadium this season. The air raid offense is based on a strong passing offense with some QB read options and RB draws/blasts mixed in. The whole offense is trying to produce big plays to score and stay away from long drives. This is why the crowd can really get into the game and be a factor against opposing teams. I guess you could say the BIG BLUE NATION is filling its role as the twelfth man because of this new play style. UK with the BIG D The Leaders on UK’s Defense this year are seniors Bud Dupree and Ashley Lowery. Bud Dupree had 5 tackles and 1.5 sacks this past
One key player in the backfield for UK this year will be Patrick “Patty Ice” Towles. In the 2012-13 season he threw one touchdown in 40 attempts. This year he has already surpassed these marks in his first 4 games. Another key player is running back Braylon Heard who has 217 yards in 29 rushing attempts. One more key player for UK’s explosive offense is Stankey “BOOM” Williams. He was the 118th top prospect in 247 sports and his first touchdown for UK was a 53 yard TD run against Ohio. Aerial Attack UK and the air raid offense? That’s correct Head Coach Mark Stoops has converted from the old Kentucky ways and their short passing game and running game to the deep threat. They have moved to a more explosive style of play similar to the Oregon Ducks

offense.

sports BIG BLUE HOPEFULS Some of the following are the 2015 committed players for UK: C.J. Conrad TE, Eli Brown LB, and Jabari Greenwood WR. With some of these top recruits which can hopefully produce well, Kentucky will continue to grow into the shoes of other SEC dynasties like Alabama and Lsu. Two teams that are well known for their recruiting abilities.
UK unveils some of its new uniforms.
saturday against the Vanderbilt Commodores on saturdays win. The other leader Ashley Lowery had 46 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss last year. These two young men hope to lead the team to a successful season and bowl eligibility this year. As you all most likely know it is head coach Mark stoops second year as a Kentucky Wildcat and he is looking at his defense all the time for wins. Before Mark Stoops was head coach at Kentucky he was the defensive coordinator for the Florida State Seminoles. They are currently the defending national champions and had the #7 defense in the nation and allowing only 17.5 points per game. Hopefully allowing uk to have a better future in the defensive area. A look at Kentucky defensive stats this year show Kentucky is much better than last year. They only allow an average of 15 points per game this season. They almost shutout the Ohio bobcats beating them 20-3. The defense also completely shut out Vanderbilt with their only score coming from their defense.
The next Jacob Tamme? Uk commit C.J. Conrad could be the next big time tight end for the Wildcats. With this new style of offensive play for UK they need people at the tight end position that are strong enough to block on the O-line and athletic enough to make catches out in open space. C.J. Conrad has the ability to make these plays. In his high school he is the starting punt returner and is a great lead blocker for his RB.
The next Randall Cobb? Here at Kentucky we all know Randall Cobb had a big legacy. he also left some big shoes to fill. Jabari Greenwood might be the man to do that job though. in one game he had 96 receiving yards in four catches one of them was a screen for 53 yards, showing how he can be an explosive player.
COMMONWEALTH IN COMMONWEALTH UK should expect to witness a few big wins in 2014. They have already experienced one miracle this year. It will be known as the night football came back to the bluegrass. It was a cool fall night with black magic in the air. It was the night that UK defeated South Carolina on a picksix. Football is back in Kentucky. Hope for the future is here and here to stay.

Kentucky 2015 Basketball Recruiting Class By: Trevor Sparks
The UK womens team are scrimmaging within their team, on Big Blue Madness. After the womens team finished the men came on to the court.e introduction to each men player. Last Season’s Major Recaps Kentucky made history last season by being a high ranked seed in the final along with Connecticut. The young team had talent, but it was over shown by the poor teamwork put in during the season. However they made it further than most had thought. They made an appearance in the Final against connecticut, previously upsetting both Michigan in a 75-72 score and in the semi-final Wisconsin 74-73. when they played Connecticut they saw an end to their “cinderella story.” Ending in a 6 point loss of 60-54 the Cats were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament. Julius Randle, the Harrison twins, James Young, Marcus Lee, and Dakari Johnson were the major names of the freshman class that year. Although the UK team didn’t win the NCAA they had major talent coming in, thanks to the recruits kentucky contain. This year kentucky managed to get 4, 5 star recruits to join the Kentucky basketball team. Next year Kentucky fans expect just as much as always, which in terms means playing to the fullest and making a strong appearance in the NCAA Championship, and getting the best players that can be persuaded.

This is a blue blooded bag in Rupp Arena. It means the famous Kentucky saying “Bleed blue.”
Matthew Mayhem Next year the only committed incoming freshman, so far, is Charles Matthews. The Shooting Guard from Chicago, Illinois is ranked 2nd in the state of Illinois and is a four star recruit. While Matthews stats aren’t as great as the other top prospects for kentucky his coach speaks well of him, saying that he is “versatile with positions,” and complimenting his work ethic. Matthews is said to be a great ball player but only time will tell. Potential Wildcats Malik Newman A young prospect that has also been offered a scholarship. He’s a 6’3, 175 Ib shooting guard. Newman is ranked the number one incoming shooting guard from Jackson, Mississippi. Newman has starred in the FIBA U16 World Cup while keeping an average of 20 points per game. He has achieved many accomplishments such as 2013 FIBA Americas MVP in addition to winning gold in the Tournament. If Kentucky manages to capture Newman, we will surely have a successful season in and out of tournaments.
Ivan Rabb In Oakland, California, he was “declared” the number one sophomore in the nation, and he is currently ranked number five in the nation on ESPN. He has led his team, Bishop O’Dowd, from the start of his high school career. Winning two California state titles, and being apart of the FIBA U16 cup winning gold which is sure to prove he is worthy of the top schools in the nation. Many schools are trying to get his spoken commitment such as Duke, Kansas, Louisville and countless others. Kentucky will need to find a way to stand out from the rest of the colleges making offers because Rabb will be one for the future. Caleb Swanigan While interested in Kentucky Swanigan has many other interests in different colleges. The feeling is definitely reciprocated back. Caleb Swanigan has been offered by 13 colleges to play for their team. During his U17 USA FIBA cup career he managed 69.9% shooting rate. Most basketball players could see that the record is impressive. What is most impressive is how he had to persevere to get where he is. He weighed at 350Ib as an 8th grader, he lost it knowing it was the only way to continue his basketball career. It payed off in the end, he is being approached by many top colleges and more are sure to come.

Henry Ellenson Three colleges have been keeping tags on him. He had originally had more, but he planned ahead and cut down the original list. Marquette and Michigan State are the only competitors to Kentucky. These three colleges are top notch in their basketball programs, while Elleson the same in his basketball career. Kentucky do have a disadvantage, in that Marquette is where his brother attends. Though Kentucky was the last school to give an offer, Swanugan just is just happy they offered. To him it doesn’t matter how late Kentuckys offer came but that it did. Kentucky has a chance to get the power forward from Rice Lake, Wisconsin. And a chance is all they need. Cheick Diallo He was excited to receive an offer from Kentucky. He has been watching the Kentucky games, and “Liked the way they played down the stretch of the court.” Diallo also claimed that Kentucky was the best school to receive an offer from. He is ranked number 7 in the Nation, and is number 1 in the state of New York. Diallo will definitely think about the offers received during the coming months. It is safe to say we would make it far if Kentucky managed to capture of Cheick Diallo. Jaylen Brown The best ranked recruit Kentucky is shooting for. He was set to visit Kentucky in October, along with Kansas. However he is thinking about going overseas to play professionally. This move is clearly one to think about, and will not be easy one to ponder. He did say however, “Coach Cal, coach Kenny Payne, they’re both great coaches... They hit me up once a week, it’s always good to hear from them.” Keeping close tabs on players, like Kentucky are doing can really impact a player’s decision. It’s a great tactical move on Kentucky’s part. Stephan Zimmerman The tallest of the first top 50 players, standing at 7 feet. Being seven foot helps in multiple ways. You can block shots easier, get a high release point on your shot, and Zimmerman can box out most of his opponents. He is interested in how the Kentuckys coaches handle players, not just because they are a powerhouse team. Zimmerman also said he is definitely not ready to choose a college even though UNCL is “In his backyard.”

Coach John Calipari is directing his team through a home game.
Kentucky is not just a name It’s great to know that coach Calipari is aiming high. It shows how good and strong the Kentucky program is in basketball. And staying up to date with potential recruit players just shows how much dedication coach Cal has to his players and the future of his team. There are many more incoming freshman reached out to by The University of Kentucky. We are sure to have a great season during 2015 due to the talent being reached out to and the talent we still maintain. Six out of the top ten national incoming freshman have been reached out to by Kentucky. What players get chosen determine the teams of the future. With our coaching staff and scouts, fans can expect the best from the Kentucky Wildcats.

Tim Howard More Like,
Tim-How-Do-You-Do-It Everything about Tim Howard and more; all about his success Tim Howard, soccer player for the USA Men’s national team and Everton Futbol Club, was rockin’ it in this year’s FIFA World Cup and continues to kill it in his club team.
The Start Of Tim Howard He began his career in his home state New York playing for the New York/New Jersey Metrostars, where he eventually replaced USA keeper, Tony Meola, as the first choice in goal. Howard moved to Man Utd. in 2003 in place of Fabien Barthez. He then went to Everton 3 years later and continues to play excellent games. Tim Howard joined the Everton Futbol Club in 2006. He was originally on Manchester United but was replaced by Edwin van der Sar.
But he did play 77 games for Man U before making the switch to Everton. In fact, he did so well that Everton wanted to make his move permanent and he signed the four year contract. In the summer of 2007, he collected his first piece of silverware. He played in the CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) Gold Cup and they beat Mexico 2-1. Mexico is a great team too, that would have been a tough game to play. But he obtained a finger injury overseas that would disrupt Howard’s start to the 2007/08 season. He ended up missing four games including one against his former team, Manchester United. Once Howard returned, he had a fantastic season. His team
could always count on him and he made some of the greatest saves of his career. In fact, he was one save short of equalling Neville Southall’s record of 15 clean sheets in the league. He continued to show the world that he was the best by saving two penalties in the 2008/09 FA Cup semi-final against United. Everton went on to win it all. He helped carry his USA team to the Confederations Cup final in the summer of 2009, winning the Golden Gloves award in the process. With his awesome catches and dives, he was sure to get the gold. He was number one in the Premier League for Everton for two consecutive seasons. By the end of the 2009/10 season, Howard made 109 consecutive top-flight appear-

sports ances, keeping a clean sheet for 55 of those games! It is incredibly hard to not let any goals by you for even one game; the fact that Howard can do that for 55 straight, says so much about how hard he works. At the end of that season, he was chosen for the USA squad to play in the World Cup in South Africa. The keeper played in all four games and helped the team beat everyone in the Group C division. Although they got that far, they got knocked out by Ghana in the second round. Howard then had some competition starting in goal with Slovakian international Jan Mucha in 2010/11 but managed to hold on to the gloves and continued to play even better.
On August 20th, 2012, the young keeper set a new record for consecutive Premier League appearances for one club with 184 games in a row. But, being so close to Neville Southall, he got injured and could not beat Southall’s record of 212. He has extended contract with Everton FC until 2018.
Tips for a Healthy Diet Just like Tim Howard
Two words: Paleo Diet. This diet is really the only nutritional one to actually work with your genetics to help you stay lean and strong and energized. So of course, it is the only
option for this great athlete. Here’s how it works: This diet is all on your own so you have to really develop a strong resistance to foods such as: dairy, grains, processed foods and sugars, legumes, starches, and, of course, alcohol. The foods you need to eat are fruit, vegetables, lean meats, seafood, nuts and seeds, healthy fats. The no dairy is a little strange because you think ‘but dairy has calcium and you need calcium for strong bones!’ yes, that is true, but lean meats do the same thing! Crazy, right? Protein helps with optimal immune function as well. Grains is another odd thing to not eat a lot of but nuts and seeds

are simply much better for you. Nuts and seeds and other foods with healthy fats such as avocados and diets rich in Monounsaturated and Omega-3 dramatically reduce the instances of obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease and cognitive decline.
Helath Benefits of a Paleo Diet
More efficient workouts, reduced allergies, burn off extra fat, and many other benefits that you can figure out if you choose this celebrity-athlete approved diet! But this food diet isn’t going to work on its own, you have to put in the work too. For instance, Howard takes 30 minute walks while on the diet, so it isn’t that hard to become fit and healthy!
Howard’s USA National Soccer League Experience Not only does Howard play on the Everton club team, he also plays on the USA Men’s National team. He has played 104 games and is continuing to play. In fact, he has started almost all of his games since 1999. He was actually a backup keeper for Brad Friedel in the 2000 Summer olympics. In fact, in May of 2006, Howard was named one of three goalkeepers on the USA roster for the FIFA World Cup in Germany, but was again a backup Kasey Keller. But then he started for the 2009 FIFA Confederations cup, including the huge upset over Spain, who, at the time, was the number one team in the world. He had eight saves that earned him his first clean sheet, and the fact the it was over Spain
sports
made it so much better AND it was the first shutout of the Spanish side since 2007! In the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, he even made a beaut of a pass to Landon Donovan who made the game winning shot. On June 22nd of 2014, he was named the man of the match for his extraordinary performance in the 2-2 draw against Portugal; his most notable save being his fast reaction to save a shot by Éderzito António Macedo Lopes (also known as Éder). But that was not the only great save that night, he also diverted a powerful shot by Luís Carlos Tim Howard comands the field from Almeida da Cunha (Nani) off the the goalmouth. post. Continuing on the greatness that is Tim Howard, he was awarded Man of the Match yet again, despite USA losing 2-1 to Belgium. He had 16 saves during the expanse of the game, overtime and all, setting a new record for most saves in a World Cup match. So, in case this wasn’t clear, Tim Howard is one of the best goalkeepers around. He has had to prove himself to multiple teams and he has done just that. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what the score of Howard is seen here celebrating a the game is, doesn’t matter if it’s goal. 2-1 and losing, or 2-1 and winning, what matters is the intensity and Howard has it all. People love that about him, that he continues to give his hardest during every single game. We could all learn something from him, but a question Tim Howard, how do you do it?
Howard is notorious for his strong goal kicks.
