For the fall of 2024, the Star Bright Players production will be Urinetown, a sidesplitting sendup of greed, love, revolution (and musicals!), in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. Winner of three Tony Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards and two Obie Awards, Urinetown provides a hilarious musical satire and fresh perspective on one of America’s greatest art forms in a hysterically funny and touchingly honest way.
In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he’s had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! This production is rated PG-13 by Music Theatre International.
Please refer to our website HERE in early June for important pre-audition information and forms.

For the 2024 fall classes, the STAR program will take on Meredith Willson’s The Music Man KIDS for their 10-week class. Based on the six-time-Tony-Award-winning musical comedy, The Music Man KIDS features some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs and a story filled with wit, warmth and good old-fashioned romance.
The Music Man KIDS is family entertainment at its best — a bold, brassy show that will have the whole town atwitter! Master showman Harold Hill is in town and he’s got “seventy-six trombones” in tow. Can upright, uptight Marian, the town librarian, resist his powerful allure? The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize. The catch? He doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, whose belief in Harold’s power just might help him succeed in the end in spite of himself. This production is rated G by Music Theatre International.

Our STAR Program’s Summer Camp intensive for 2024 is Seussical Kids. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton’s challenge is twofold — not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! This production is rated G by Music Theatre International.

For the summer of 2024, the Rising Stars production will be 13, a hilarious, coming-of-age musical about discovering that “cool” is sometimes where we least expect it. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County) 13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out!
Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents’ divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!? This production is rated PG by Music Theatre International.

When Agnes stumbles upon Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and ’90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all. This production has “mild adult themes” per Concord Theatricals.

Mission Statement:
It is the goal of the Williamson County Community Chorus to engage passions, inspire achievement, deepen connections and broaden community through choral music.
The Williamson County Community Chorus was founded in 2017 under the direction of Dr. Linda Bolding. The chorus grew quickly and at only 2 years old was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in February 2020. The chorus is open for participation by qualified High School students, adults and seniors who have past experience and a passion for singing. The chorus performs no less than twice a year at the culmination of each session: Fall/Winter (SeptDec) and Spring (Jan-April) and enjoys a break over the summer months. They have performed large scale concerts, singing with an orchestra, and most recently kicked off the Christmas season to an audience of nearly 800. We are delighted for the success of this group and invite residents to audition and to support us in the audience.
The chorus is directed by Karen Mabry Lewis, a veteran choral music educator from the Dallas area who obtained her BM degree with a concentration in Voice from Belmont University and a MM degree from SMU in Music Education and Vocal Performance. If you are interested in joining the Williamson County Community Chorus or for more information including sponsorship opportunities and audition appointments, please contact Carrie Cartwright at (615) 786-0186,ext. 2519 or Carrie.Cartwright@williamsoncounty-tn.gov or visit wcparksandrec.com.
