I hope to see you in Corvallis in January and Fresno in April! Mark your calendars! If you just can’t wait until convention season to begin, there are some other cool programs you can get involved with in the meantime to share your love of TBS with Sisters from across the District. If you are not already a member, join the “Marching Through Life: 8 to 5” Facebook group, where each month we focus on a new Quality or Essential and challenge Sisters and Chapters to participate and post about how they are exemplifying these Q&E’s in their daily lives. You can also join the “Monthly Active Challenge” run by our VPSP and MAL. Other things that I have been up to as District President include meeting with Chapter Presidents during our President’s Roundtable sessions and individually, and skyping into Chapter meetings to get to know the Western District a little more. Hello, W
Collegiate Band where I will be playing the euphonium. Since elected at WDC in Boise, Idaho, I have worked endless hours to try to give the Western District the best experience they deserve. I started off my term this past summer during every other week, where all of the Tau Beta Sigma Vice Presidents of Membership and I met for training so we could discuss what their roles are in the chapter, how to recruit candidates, how to guide candidates through a process, and how to retain them once initiated as sisters. y name is Lauren Streeter and We also discussed how to incorporate I am your Tau Beta Sigma brothers into the mix to strengthen the Western District Vice President of Joint Bond in the District. I have also had Membership. I am currently attending updates throughout the semester on their Northern Arizona University in recruitment week, number of candidates my final year pursuing a degree in initiated into the rush process, and guided Secondary Music Education. I am some chapters on any help they needed. an Active Member of the Alpha Chi During the semester, I have also met with Chapter where I was initiated in Fall chapter’s candidates to teach them the 2014 and served my chapter as Alumni History and Current Events of the Western Relations Officer, Band Camp Chair, District. and Vice President. Western District! I learned about the Membership Education Program, the Continuing Membership Education, Recruitment/ Retention, and how to become a stronger leader for our District to make sure the Western District gets the best experience from their council members this year! This was an experience I definitely will not forget and I cannot wait to attend National Convention 2019 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, celebrating Kappa Kappa Psi’s 100 Years of serving the band programs. Since then, I have worked closely and diligently with the District Council to achieve the rest of my goals I had planned up to this point. My counterpart, Jenna Jorgenson, and I have accomplished a couple of things together. We started off by updates the Actives Interview Directory to provide the District a resource to use for contacting members outside of their chapter, as well as updating and organizing the list. We then created a District Calendar that we shared with the rest of the Council to use to keep important dates in the calendar (i.e. degrees, district events, etc.). Last, we have started an initiative called CME Facts, where we can educate the Western District on facts from Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi. Last, I have attended meetings with the
Tau Beta Sigma Council and the Joint Council to aid in planning the 2018 District Leadership Conference and the 2018 Western District Convention. As these meetings continue throughout our term, I am beyond excited for you all to come and experience a District Event. What we have planned this year as a Council is thrilling and I want everyone to come and see what is in store. The Joint Council has been amazing to work with and I am so proud of every one of them. I am also beyond ecstatic to work with the Counselors, Vanessa and Meghan, and the Governors, Charlene and Erik, who are true inspirations with their guidance throughout this term. Thank you, Western District, for your hard work and dedication. The best is truly in the Western District. You all make my job so much fun and I am honored to serve you all. If you ever need anything or would like to say hello, feel free to message me any time! I am here for you.

Hello, West Side!
y name is Diana Kelly Wilkinson and I am honored to be serving as the Vice President of Special Projects for this term. I attend the University of Utah where I am studying Music Education and Clarinet. I have been a member of the Omicron chapter of TBS since Spring of 2014. Throughout my time as an active sister I have served in the roles of chapter historian, chapter secretary/treasurer, and chapter president. I joined TBS because I love serving my community and I love band. In the first half of my term I have worked with Lyssa (KKPsi MAL) on the Monthly Active Challenge. Our goals for this program are to increase sisterhood and brotherhood across the district and to meet the joint goals of our sibling organizations. In addition, I have worked with Erika Pope and the Focus on Five liaisons for each WD chapter on the Focus on Five campaign. I am excited to announce that we have 100% participation so far. I hope to help each chapter complete the whole fag and lyre in the second half of my term. I am also excited to read the first round of award nominations at the end of November and get to know some of the amazing sisters we have here in the West.

Hey Brothers and Sisteres!
M
y name is Nichole Chambers and I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve the district as your secretarytreasurer. I currently attend Washington State University located in Pullman, WA, where I am studying music education and flute. At WSU, I am involved in many different ensembles and groups associated with the school of music including; Drum Major of the Cougar Marching Band, Band Council Treasurer, Women’s Basketball Pep-band, the Symphonic Band, and the Flute Studio’s Flute Choir. I have been a member of the Theta Delta chapter of Tau Beta Sigma since the Fall of 2013 and have served as my chapter’s parliamentarian, social chair, and two terms as president. Over the summer I had the fantastic opportunity to attend National Convention and National Leadership Convention in Orlando, Florida. While at NatCon I met and worked with our National officers and other district officers to further develop my skills as a leader and learned how to better serve our district. I also had the opportunity to meet and work with the other district secretaries and treasurers, the served as an excellent resource to bounce ideas and goals off of for our terms. In addition to attending NatCon and National Leadership Convention as a district officer, I was able to represent my chapter as a chapter leadership finalist. I’m very excited for district season to start! I’ve been working with my counterpart Micky Welther to start planning our district fundraisers. As most of you have seen and participated in (THANK YOU!), we released a survey regarding what you the district wants in terms of merchandise. We’ve gotten many responses and with this info we can better cater to the wants and needs of the district. With that being said, keep an eye out for penny wars and upcoming fundraisers! I can’t wait to see you all at DLC in January!
A Brief message from your Western District Publisher to you!
Dear Brothers and Sisters o Seasons Greetings!
My name is Karianne “BOUDICCA” Sudyka of the Lambda Psi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi at San Jose State University and I was granted the amazing privilege of being your Western District Publisher earlier this semester. During this upcoming holiday season, I will be working on the ‘Best Of ’ edition for Fall 2017 of The Accent. However, I would love to make a digital seasons greetings card featuring photos of the Brothers and Sisters of the West. I will send out a post in the next week or so requesting photos in order to get this project going.
