The
Fall Packet 2021
Letter From the Publisher What's Up Westside! My name is Jose "Notor.I.ous" Perez from the Lambda Psi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi at San Jose State University in California. I would like to thank the Joint Western District Councils as well as the Governors and Counselors for entrusting me to create the Fall 2021 edition of The Accent. This year has been a year of transitioning back to normalcy for many of us. I would like to huge shout out those Brothers and Sisters who have stepped up and taking it upon themselves to help their fellow band members transition. AEA and MLitB Jose "Notor.I.ous" Perez

1 Kappa Kappa Psi - President
Logan Dominguez Iota Kappa - Boise State University My position entails LOTS of email responses...but more seriously, as the Western District President of Kappa Kappa Psi, I am in charge of communicating district events, district resources and our district activities as they occur. Additionally, I am in charge of contacting and being a resource for all chapter presidents in our district. One unique thing that I was fortunate enough to do was represent our voice in the Western District at the 2021 National Convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan this past year!
Why Did You run For This Positon? I ran for this position as I believed I had the ability to help the District. As cliche as it sounds, the last 18 months or so have truly been unprecedented. I was hopefully that we would begin to find a 'new normal' with in-person events and having attend in-person events, I would be able to guide Brothers through the variety of information that our District holds being so spread apart. Additionally, I have seen the special bonds that the Western District holds and I wanted to bring that bond back through events such as WDC, State's Days, and the Chapter Leadership Retreat.
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position? Truthfully, my biggest ideas I wished to bring to the District stem directly from past WD President, Nicole Gage. With the disbandment of the District Leadership Conference and updated constitutions in recent years, I believed the best idea was to provide consistent and worthwhile programming. A continuation of our great events such as States Days and the Western District Conference (which will be held on April 22nd-24th of 2022), as well as a continuation of the Chapter Leadership Retreat. The CLR for short brings the resources to everyone in the District, being held virtually to eliminate the cost of travel and be COMPLETELY free to Brothers in the West. Another main idea that I have been working closely with Karlin Weisinger is the Listserv, an email that we distribute directly to all active Brothers listed in the OMRS!
Tau Beta Sigma - President
Aubrey zide Zeta Xi - San Diego state University I work alongside District and National leaders to plan our annual Western District Convention, and to offer guidance and support to individual chapters in our District!
Why Did You run For This Positon? As my college graduation approached, I knew I would miss the opportunities for service that active membership in TBS allowed. I was excited to bring my perspective and experience in Zeta Xi to a broader audience, and for the opportunity to welcome and support our diverse group of members!
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position? I hope to expand opportunities for District engagement to all members, especially intra- and inter-District communications! I also hope to better advertise the various resources offered by our District and National leadership, as well as to collect feedback and update them as appropriate.

Kappa Kappa Psi - Vice President
Abe Lamontagne iota pi - Cal Poly, San luis Obispo
Coordinating resources for Vice Presidents of Membership & chapters to be able to run recruitment & education smoothly.
Why Did You run For This Positon? I had been on the Jurisdiction Committee for the previous two years and wanted to get more involved at the district level and expand on my interest in the recruitment and education process.
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position?
I'd like to be more specific in finding out which topics brothers feel undereducated on and connect them with materials to improve their learning.
Tau Beta Sigma - VP of Membership
Melissa perrin epsilon kappa - university of california, los angeles
I am the first line of support for each chapter's vice president of membership.
Why Did You run For This Positon? I wouldn't have put my name in the running without my district counselor, Sarah's, encouragement. I ultimately decided to run because I thought I still had something in me to give back to the sisterhood. (And I've been having a blast so I am really grateful that I put myself out there.)
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position? After a year of little to no recruitment, our chapters are coming back with lots of room to improve membership. I'm hoping that my open lines of communication, encouragement, and experience as EK's VP this last year are helpful for rebuilding the Western District.

5 Kappa Kappa Psi - Member-At-Large
Karlin weisinger alpha alpha - university of nevada, reno The Member at Large works primarily with chapter service officers and historians, but also any officer seeking support. They also coordinate district social programming such as newsletters, social events, and Snarky's Challenge (in partnership with the TBS VPSP)
Why Did You run For This Positon? I wanted to work more closely with service officers and historians across the district to figure out how to better serve our bands and keep our records. I also wanted to get to know more brothers and sisters across the district and the nation!
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position?
I will be hosting weekly office hours for any officer or brothers to drop in on to ask questions or hang out!
Tau Beta Sigma - VP of Special Projects
theo Mitchell Theta delta - washington state university
I act as a resource for leadership involving service and miscellaneous leadership alongside developing programing with KKY for the district.
Why Did You run For This Positon? I love creating and developing programs, and I wanted to become more involved within the district. What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position? I would like to work towards connecting sisters and offering the ability to bond through chill service projects, as well as be able to provide resources and make sure that while being in a pandemic that sisters have what they need.

7 KKPsi - Secretary-Treasurer
Christian heck iota kappa - boise state univserity
My position entails but is not limited to: Overseeing District Secretaries and Treasurers, Handling the Budget and monitoring District gains/expenses, Take minutes during official meetings, and serve as a district liaison in National Fraternity events.
Why Did You run For This Positon? Over the course of the past year, I had watched two of my own Chapter's brothers serve as District Officers and I felt motivated to throw my hat in the ring. Originally, I didn't intend on applying because I wanted my last year to be relaxing, however thanks to the wonderful encouragement of my fellow brothers, including Logan Dominguez, I changed my mind and decided that I would fit the role of Sec/Treas well.
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position? I wish to bring a sense of community between the brothers of the Western District through consistent and positive Correspondence, as well as promoting the financial success in our fundraising efforts through brotherhood and musicianship via great participation and effort.
Tau Betan Sigma - Secretary-Treasurer
justyce himebaugh zeta xi - san diego state university I take minutes at all of our meetings, I run all of our fundraisers with the KKPsi sec/treas, and I communicate with all of our secretaries and treasurers and make sure all of their questions are answered and they have all of the information they need!
Why Did You run For This Positon? I ran for it because I love our district! Since my first district event (DLC in 2018), I have loved meeting with all of our siblings in both organizations and sharing everything my chapter has gone through to help other chapters! I have seen my chapter grow from 4 people to now 18, and I want to see our district prosper!
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position?
I have a ton of new fundraisers to do! I also have some ways to make Wednesday in the West more read throughout the district, and working a lot more with my counterpart!

9 Joint Western District - Social Media Coorindator
Jordan Javier gamma - university of washington
My job is to keep the West updated on different events happening on the District and National level.
Why Did You run For This Positon? I ran for this position because I really enjoy design and social media. As a Math major, I don't really see this in my course work, so I thought it would be cool to explore more of my design passions while working in the West.
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position?
One idea I had was to start doing a chapter highlight once a week or maybe do a WD officer takeover on the Instagram.
Joint Western District - Webmaster
Gordon troung theta - oregan state university I help update and maintain the district website with relevant district resources so that chapters can be informed of any new district information and events. Our website is also there to help connect chapters to the national organization from the district level.
Why Did You run For This Positon? I ran for this position because I found myself enjoying the work that I do. Of course, the work requires a little bit of perseverance, but that is the beauty of being in KKPsi-providing service for the greater bands and striving to the highest. Not only did I ran because of pure enjoyment from what I did last year, but it is also because I found myself in a spot where there is definitely work that is yet to be finished and I wanted to continue on with that initiative.
What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position? I had this idea of building our district a custom web theme. For those of you guys who don't know, our website is powered by WordPress and being what it is, you can use custom themes to make the website look however you feel it should look. Most themes are built by theme developers; but as a district (and organization), I think it would be in our best interest to promulgate our brand a bit more, therefore, no funky pink, magenta, and green themes from Mr. Joe down the block--it's gotta be KKPsi/TBS custom!

What new ideas do you wish to bring to the district/position?
I wish to create more interaction from chapters within the Accent, such as highlights and chapter spotlights.
