Welcome 2015! What an exciting year on the horizon! We’ve seen a recent increase in reserved dates for brides and grooms planning 2015 weddings! That’s very exciting! What’s even more exciting about it is the embracing of “making it your own” where brides and grooms are bringing more personality and style into their own weddings. Our local wedding professionals are also rising to the occasion and bringing more inventive unique ways to work with the couple to give them exactly what they want for their wedding day. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and be open about your personality and style and what you would like for the end results, but also be open minded to what those wedding professionals have to tell you and offer you. Their experience should be relied on. After all, that’s why you hire a professional...to give you the results you want, to eliminate stress and to assure that you’re going to have an absolutely fabulous wedding.

Bridal Beauty Top 5 Tips for a Flawless Face by Liz Washer Wondering how to look your absolute best in your wedding photos – and in person? Here’s how to avoid some all-too-common makeup mishaps, and put your best face forward on your wedding day! 1. Bridal beauty – ALL beauty – begins with the skin. The better the condition of your skin, the better your makeup will look and the less of it you will need. However, skincare is not something to undertake impulsively in the last few weeks before your wedding. In fact, dramatically changing your regimen can cause MORE breakouts in the short term. Instead, find products that work for your skin type early on, and if you want to get a facial or other skin treatment, make sure your skin has time to recover (a week or more before the wedding day is best). During your engagement, be sure to protect your skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen so you don’t have a burn or sun damage to cover up on your big day. To bring on the bridal glow: exfoliate, moisturize, eat well, sleep, and drink lots of water!
Heavenly Elegance
2. Your eyebrows provide the frame for your beautiful face, and their shape is very important, but don’t overdo it: a natural Tara (413)and467-2247 brow is far more youthful flattering Cell Phone (413) 896-4738 than a thin, heavily plucked one! Your best bet is to get a professional brow shaping from an esthetician, and then maintain their shape. Before you pluck out any hairs, brush your brows straight up and carefully trim the tips that reach above your brow – you may find that you don’t have to pluck as many as you thought. This will keep your brows from becoming too sparse. 3. A lot of brides think they have to wear “heavy makeup” in order to look good in photos – but in the age of high-definition photography and video, cakey foundation and heavy contour lines will not look natural or flattering. Be sure to opt for a lightweight, flexible finish (such as airbrush) that provides coverage where you need it, but still looks like real skin and

won’t crack when you smile. Avoid using foundations that are sparkly or reflective, as this can make your face look shiny or ashy in photos, and only powder where needed so you don’t look overly dry or chalky. 4. Depending on your plans, your budget, and your cultural traditions, weddings can be a lengthy affair. The makeup you wear has to stand up to a lot: tears, hugs, kisses, weather, and your skin’s natural perspiration and oils. Professional makeup products are formulated with better pigmentation and longer wear than most consumer products, and professional makeup artists specialize in applying makeup that can withstand all kinds of conditions. This is why so many people - even women who do a great job with their everyday makeup - hire a pro for special events. (Even Kate Middleton, who famously did her own wedding makeup, hired a pro for lessons before the big day!) Your wedding calls for a look that looks flawless in person, in every type of lighting condition, on camera and video, from day to night. 5. Heed professional advice, but remember: your wedding style is entirely up to you, whether classic, trendy, offbeat, or anywhere in between. The best way to communicate your vision with makeup artists is to share pictures of looks that you like, which your artist can adapt to your features and coloring. Ultimately, the most important thing is to be true to your own sense of style. Pro artists want you to love the look, so don’t be afraid to share your ideas and feedback!
Recognized for her natural touch and eye for color, professional makeup artist Liz Washer has been beautifying brides, as well as models, actors, executives, and everyday men and women, since 2005. Proficient at HD makeup application (including airbrush), her work has been featured in local and national magazines, websites, and commercial campaigns. For more information, visit bridalbyliz.com.

Be Unique: Aside from winning the wedding package, one of the most unique parts was our sweetheart table. It was the same table that we sat at during our first date at Rao’s Coffee Shop in Amherst. Serendipitously, we were at Rao’s earlier this year and they had just begun renovations. They were replacing all of the rustic table tops with fancy new ones. We asked, as if in stereo, “what are you doing with the old ones?!” We told the manager our story, and he gave us the table free of charge.
Favorite Moments: Stephanie: To me, the ceremony was the most special part of our wedding. The weather was perfect, we were surrounded by loving family, and the best part…I was marrying Brian! The moment that I locked eyes with Brian as my father walked me down the aisle was my favorite! I think I was more nervous during the rehearsal than I was the actual ceremony. I also loved each little tradition – the cake cutting, bouquet/garter toss – during each part, I couldn’t help but stop and think, “wow, I can’t believe this is really happening.” I’m not sure if it was because of the whole giveaway or the excitement of getting married, but the whole day felt surreal…I’m a lucky (and very happy) girl. Brian: There are two, really. The first was seeing Stephanie, in her dress, walking down the aisle. She looked so beautiful and my heart skipped a beat. That’s when it hit me that we were really getting married, and that I am, in fact, the luckiest man alive. The other moment was when Stephanie and I had our first dance. We practiced for months with our teacher, Emily Fox, and when we finally hit the dance floor, dancing with 8 H was The Wedding Day Sourcebook Winter 2014-2015 Stephanie fun and felt completely natural. A prelude to our lives together, I hope.
A simple idea, to give away a complete wedding package to one terrific deserving local couple, proved to be a larger undertaking than originally thought. This little project turned into the first Western New England Great Wedding Giveaway, incompassing over 20 of the area’s finest wedding professionals. The Giveaway was announced in November and the call was put out to engaged couples to register to win through the giveaway website. Couples had to give us some information about themselves, how they met and such, with one main question of why they wanted to win this amazing wedding. At the same time, wedding professionals were lining up with their specialty and were eager to help create an amazing wedding for one special couple. A list of the top ten couples appeared on the website, the couples were notified and the website voting frenzy began. Votes came in fast and furious, with couples notifying everyone they knew to go vote for them. During the course of voting for the couple, which ended March 1st, the website recorded over 8,000 visits. In the end...the winning couple Stephanie Smith and Brian Demitres was announce, and the fun began! Here is their story: Brian and Stephanie met on Match.com. Within two days of created accounts they talked. It was Match.com and fate! That was February 2007. Six months after they met, Brian was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July 2007, and had surgery 2 weeks later in August. Stephanie says, “he will tell you that I was his angel during that time. We could have never made it through without each other. He is one of the bravest, most courageous men that I know and he fought to survive. Now, 3 years later, he is cancer free and we’re beyond thrilled! Not a day goes by that we don’t remember how lucky we are and how lucky he is to be alive. We want nothing more than to continue to share our lives together.” The proposal was simple, yet romantic. Brian took Stephanie out to their favorite restaurant, got down on one knee and popped the question. The entire restaurant clapped as Stephanie said “yes!” In Stephanie’s words “When I think about Brian, I think of my best friend. I think of a man who I will always love, support, and encourage to be the best person he can be. I never felt love like I do now, until I met Brian. I can’t say why we deserve to win this wonderful opportunity any more than any other couple, but I can say that we make each other very happy and can’t wait to continue to spend out lives together.” www.weddingsourcebook.com The Wedding Day Sourcebook G 9
