Named after Manifesto, a horse who ran in eight Grand National's between 1895 and 1904, this race was first staged in 2009 A Grade 1, this race often features horses who ran previously in the Arkle and the Marsh Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival Like Manifesto, who won two Grand National's, horses need to be tough at the finish to win this race, which has now been the opening race at the meeting for seven years, and was handed Grade 1 status after just three runnings

Millers Bank enjoyed a mixed fortune in his first season chasing but got everything spot on when it mattered to give both trainer and jockey their first Grade 1 success. Tracking the strong pace set by market leader Gin On Lime, he was momentarily outpaced but picked up so strongly two out that the race was at his mercy approaching the last He went on to score by 10 lengths with Brendan Powell back in second on War Lord
