CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME Welcome to the opening day of the QIPCO King George Diamond Weekend. This two-day meeting is one of the highlights in the Ascot calendar, headlined by the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes tomorrow. The race was developed by Major John Crocker Bulteel, Clerk of the Course at Ascot at the time, and first run in 1951. Today our second race is run in his memory, the Anders Foundation British EBF Crocker Bulteel Maiden Stakes which is for horses that have not run more than once. It is often a high-quality two-year-old contest and was won in 2019 by Mums Tipple with the 2020 Jersey Stakes winner Molatham in second. The feature race today is the British Racecourses Join Sunflower Lanyard Scheme Valiant Stakes. Promoted to Group 3 status for the first time in 2020, it is an important opportunity for fillies and mares over the Old Mile course. This year the race is named after the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme which has been adopted by all racecourses in Britain to make them more accessible and inclusive for people with hidden disabilities. Ascot was one of the first racecourses to adopt the scheme and launched the Sunflower Lawn in 2019. This is located on the Grundy & Bustino Lawn and is specifically designated for those looking for a quiet area. Lady Bowthorpe won the race last year and she has gone on to perform very well in Group 1 contests at Newbury and Newmarket this season as well as being second in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. We are delighted today to be hosting and celebrating many of the winning breeders from Royal Ascot this year. In total 28 different sires provided winners at the Royal Meeting with the great Frankel, himself a dual-Royal Ascot winner, being the leading stallion with three winners. In terms of prize money, it is poignant that Galileo once again topped that list with almost £600,000 in win and place money. His only winner of the week was Love, bred by Coolmore, and she heads the field for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes tomorrow. As well as winning that race in 2001, Galileo has also sired the winner twice already in Highland Reel and Nathaniel. As well as Love, he will also be represented by Lone Eagle in tomorrow’s big race. In terms of breeders, Jim Bolger was responsible for one of the highest-quality winners of the week and one of the best stories. Poetic Flare, winner of the St James’s Palace Stakes, is by Dawn Approach who Bolger bred and owned himself to win the Coventry and St James’s Palace Stakes in 2012 and 2013 while Dawn Approach’s sire, New Approach was also bred and trained by Bolger. He also trained Poetic Flare’s dam Maria Lee. We look forward to seeing how Poetic Flare progresses through the season, including in the Sussex Stakes next week at Goodwood. 1st Race 1.20pm The John Guest Racing British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (GBB Race)

This seven furlongs Novice Stakes is restricted to two-year-old ﬁllies but in order to take part all of the runners must meet certain conditions. Unlike a maiden, which is restricted to horses yet to record a victory, winning horses which have run in a maximum of six races are eligible to run. Winners are allocated penalties depending on the level at which they have been successful. PAGES 22-24

2nd Race 1.55pm The Anders Foundation British EBF Crocker Bulteel Maiden Stakes (GBB Race)

This race is a six furlongs maiden stakes for two-yearolds. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the ﬁrst time of asking. PAGES 28-30

3rd Race 2.30pm The John Guest Racing Brown Jack Handicap Stakes

This is a two-miles handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 76 to 95. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130. PAGES 34-35

4th Race 3.00pm The British Racecourses Join Sunﬂower Lanyard Scheme Valiant Stakes (Group 3)

This one-mile race for three-year-olds and upwards is a Group 3 contest – a race which can only bettered by a Group 1 or 2. Many of the runners will have already posted form well above average and some may use this as a stepping-stone to even 2

greater things. Initially, the weights are allocated on the basis of age before penalties are awarded to horses which have won above a certain level prior to lining up here – 3lb to Group 3 winners, 5lb for a Group 2 or 7lb to those successful in a Group 1. PAGES 42-44

5th Race 3.35pm The John Guest Racing Handicap Stakes

This is a one mile and four furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 86 to 105. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 95 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 90. PAGES 50-51

6th Race 4.10pm The Rotary Club of Ascot Handicap Stakes

This race is a ﬁve furlongs handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards. The majority of handicaps are designed for horses from with a speciﬁc ratings band but this particular race has no rating restrictions attached to it which allows horses with a higher rating to take part. Despite having no rating restrictions attached to it the higher rated horses must still concede weight to their lower rated rivals, which tend to make open handicaps very competitive races. 7th Race 4.40pm The Berenberg October Club Supporting Cares Family Fillies’ Handicap Stakes

The ﬁnale today is a seven furlong handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 66 to 85. Like all handicaps on today’s card this means that should a horse rated 85 take part they would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 80.

Official BHA Rating The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring penalties and allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicapped races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were conﬁrmed. Any subsequently published change in rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, their latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are preﬁxed by the letter h. 23. A SHORT HISTORY ASCOT’S BEGINNINGS Few sporting venues can match the rich heritage and history of Ascot Racecourse. Over the past 300 years, Ascot has established itself as a national institution; with Royal Ascot becoming the centrepiece of the British social calendar and the ultimate stage for the best racehorses in the world.

THE FIRST RACECOURSE The racecourse was laid out by William Lowen, assisted by a team including a carpenter, a painter, and a racing administrator. The ﬁrst permanent building was erected around 1794 by a local Windsor builder. Holding 1,650 people, it was used for almost ﬁfty years.

It was Queen Anne in 1711 who ﬁrst saw the potential for a racecourse at Ascot (in those days called East Cote). Whilst out riding near Windsor Castle she came upon an area of open heath that looked, in her words, “ideal for horses to gallop at full stretch”.

In 1813, Parliament passed an Act of Enclosure, which ensured that Ascot Heath would be kept and used as a racecourse for the public in the future. Racing at Ascot was now secure.

THE FIRST RACE MEETING The ﬁrst race meeting ever held at Ascot took place later that year, on Saturday 11th August. The inaugural event was Her Majesty’s Plate, worth 100 guineas and open to any horse, mare or gelding over six years of age. Each horse was required to carry a weight of 12 stone and the seven runners were all English hunters, rather different to the speedy thoroughbreds that race on the Flat today. The nature of the contest also bears little resemblance to modern day racing at Ascot. That race consisted of three separate heats, each four miles long – about the length of today’s Grand National course. The winning horse would have required tremendous stamina, but sadly there is no record of who claimed that ﬁrst Plate. Queen Anne’s gift to racing, founding the Royal Racecourse, is marked by the tradition of opening Royal Ascot with the Queen Anne Stakes.

ROYAL ASCOT The precise origins of the Royal Meeting are unclear, as the event evolved from the ﬁrst four-day meeting that took place in 1768. The meeting as it’s known today only really started to take shape with the introduction of the Gold Cup in 1807. Royal Ascot was the only race meeting held at Ascot until 1939. The Gold Cup remains the feature race of the third day of Royal Ascot, traditionally the busiest day of the week, when high fashion and exquisite millinery take centre stage alongside Flat racing’s most elite stayers. In 2009, Yeats, ridden by Johnny Murtagh and trained by Aidan O’Brien, won his fourth consecutive Gold Cup – a magniﬁcent achievement, and one that Stradivarius could emulate this year.

MANAGING ASCOT Although founded by a Queen and located on Crown property, the administration of Ascot is handled on behalf of the Crown by a representative appointed by the Monarch. Up until 1901, the racecourse was managed on the Sovereign’s behalf by the Master of the Royal Buckhounds. In 1901, Lord Churchill was appointed as His Majesty’s Representative, responsible for running the course and determining entrance to the Royal Enclosure. The Ascot Authority was established in 1913 by an Act of Parliament, with His Majesty’s Representative becoming Senior Trustee. Today, as Ascot Authority (Holdings) Limited, Ascot has a formal board chaired by Sir Francis Brooke Bt., who also serves as Her Majesty’s Representative at Ascot. As an owner and breeder of racehorses, Her Majesty The Queen takes a keen interest in the races, and has had great success with her own horses over the years. The jockeys riding Her Majesty’s horses can be identified by The Queen’s racing colours: purple body with gold braid, scarlet sleeves, and black velvet cap with gold fringe – the same as those of King Edward VII and George IV as Prince Regent. During Royal Ascot, The Queen traditionally presents the Gold Cup and the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. New versions of these trophies are made each year and presented to the winners to keep. Ascot Racecourse closed for a £200 million redevelopment in 2004, and was reopened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth on 20th June 2006. HIGHLIGHTS AT ASCOT SINCE 2006 There have been several landmark occasions since Ascot Racecourse reopened in 2006 and none more memorable than two special Gold Cup days – when Yeats completed his four-timer of Gold Cup wins in 2009 and when The Queen herself won the stayers’ championship with Estimate in 2013.

In 2011, Ascot celebrated its tercentenary and staged the inaugural QIPCO British Champions Day, now the culmination of the European elite Flat racing season. The great Frankel won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day in 2011, and the curtain came down on the career of officially the best horse of all time when he won the Champion Stakes a year later. Sir Henry Cecil’s pride and joy won five of his remarkable unbeaten run of 14 races at Ascot in all. 2012 also saw Ascot at the heart of the country’s celebrations to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, with the Golden Jubilee Stakes renamed the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and won by the great Australian mare, Black Caviar. Ascot has continued to cement its reputation as Europe’s premier destination for the best horses in the world. In recent years it is the Americans who have had most success, with Tepin’s win in the 2016 Queen Anne Stakes and Lady Aurelia’s King’s Stand Stakes victory the following year being notable highlights. The latter filly was trained by Wesley Ward, who has now saddled 11 winners at the Royal Meeting. It is not just international horses which Ascot is known for, of course. Jockeys also come from all over the world to ride here – perhaps most notably at the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, a unique fixture in the global racing calendar which each year sees many of world’s top jockeys compete for points to lift racing’s ultimate team prize, with four teams battling it out across a thrilling six-race contest. While the grandeur of the Royal Meeting takes centre stage each June, Ascot is also renowned for hosting Europe’s premier midsummer middle-distance contest the following month. The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes has been won by many of racing’s most distinguished champions including Nijinsky, Mill Reef, Dancing Brave, Nashwan, Galileo and - most recently - the remarkable mare Enable, who in July 2020 made history by becoming the first horse to win three renewals of this prestigious prize. Whilst Emma Banks had grown up being a pony mad child, it was not until her non-horsey father suggested that she took the plunge and bought a racehorse 8 years ago that her owners journey began. Emma has a demanding career in London and one of her favourite weekend pastimes is to visit her horses in Newmarket. “I like to get to Newmarket as early as I can to watch at least one lot on the gallops, but I also enjoy just spending time with them.” One of her horses has caught the headlines over the past year, Lady Bowthorpe, and she continues to exceed connections initial expectations. This time last year she cruised to victory in the Betfair Valiant Fillies Stakes, an amazing turn of form considering she suffered serious injury in her 2 year old year, but that victory was just the start of what has turned out to be an incredible year for Emma and her connections. It was on a trip to the Tattersalls sales that Emma, along with William Jarvis and James Toller, earmarked Lady B, as she is affectionately known, as a possible purchase. “I really enjoy visiting the sales and have become good at selecting the ones I cannot afford” shares Emma. But on this occasion, they all liked what they saw at the sales and the gavel fell to them with their winning bid.

“It was such an amazing day last July when she won the Valiant, we had always thought a lot of her, and it was nice to see that she was as good as we thought” says Emma. “I was lucky enough to be there to watch her, but it was very strange not being able to celebrate with anyone.” Lady Bowthorpe has not run a bad race since and returned to Ascot in June this year to take her place at the Royal meeting. “I was only 3 weeks post hip surgery and I managed to have a great day getting around on my crutches and greeting her back to the paddock when she took 2nd in the Duke of Cambridge stakes.” Lady B is quite the character and spends her holidays at Emma’s cousin Nicky’s property near Newmarket, which is also where she does her pre-training. Like any star, Lady B also has her own thoughts when it comes to her chosen mode of transport. “She hasn’t always been the best traveller and to this day has her own personal chauffeur to take her in her favoured box each time she races.” As for what is next for the talented filly, “as long as she is still enjoying it, she will stay in training, with possible plans including a trip over the channel to either France or Ireland or a return trip to Ascot for Champions day.” Why would Emma suggest others get involved in racing and it is simple “you will never get another buzz like it. Whether you own a 10% share or 100% you experience the same excitement and you get to meet incredible people.” One thing is for sure, come the time for her retirement from racing she will be well loved and well cared for and there is hope she will, one day, become a successful broodmare so the journey can continue.

A decade is arguably not a very long time in racing. It takes five years for a colt-turned-stallion’s first runners reach their Classic season, and it can take several more before we can figure out whether a sire is truly fulfilling his potential. But for many, Nathaniel’s Group 1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes victory in 2011 will feel like an awfully long time ago, not least because in the intervening years we have welcomed, celebrated and wished a happy retirement to one of the greatest race mares of all time: his daughter, Enable. The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes will forever be associated with Enable. Her hat-trick of victories in the race gave her history-making status, while her spine-tingling tussle with Crystal Ocean in the 2018 renewal of the contest was, and will doubtless continue to be, likened to the 1975 battle between Grundy and Bustino, which racing fans joyfully reminisce over annually. But lest we forget, her success in the race was also poignant given that she was following in the hoofprints of her sire, Nathaniel, winner of Ascot’s July showpiece ten years ago now. Nathaniel had always been held in high regard by the John Gosden stable from before the evening he ran Frankel to within half a length on their Newmarket debuts in the August of their juvenile seasons. Having bypassed the Derby at Epsom, Nathaniel came off an emphatic five length win in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot to triumph in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes for the Classic generation. The visually impressive three lengths that he put between himself and the rest of the field at the line was even more notable for the fact that he relegated Workforce, the 2010 Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe champion, to the runner-up spot. 18

Nathaniel made a successful, if belated, return to the track in 2012 when winning the Group 1 Coral Eclipse, but two weeks later a gallant effort at a second consecutive King George was thwarted in a thrilling head-bob finish by Danedream. An unusually short break between the two races might have disadvantaged Nathaniel, but that said, there was no shame in going down by just a nose to the champion filly, having given her a 3lb allowance. Roll on five years and Newsells Park Stud in Hertfordshire had already begun to reap the rewards of buying into Nathaniel as a stallion prospect over the 2011-12 winter. Their newest recruit’s first crop of three-year-olds was spearheaded by the dual Oaks winner, Enable, who continued her relentless ascent up the ranks when emulating her sire as a three-year-old winner of the King George, pulling four and a half lengths clear of a top-class field that included no less than seven global Group 1 winners. The emphatic win elevated her to new heights and reinforced her status as racing’s new superstar. Enable would of course go on to make history in winning the King George on two further occasions: in that unforgettable duel with Crystal Ocean in 2018, and then for a record third time when staging a bloodless victory over the Derby winner, Serpentine, in 2019. Enable is now enjoying her second career, as a broodmare in the paddocks at her owner-breeder Juddmonte Farms’ Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket, and we can look forward to seeing her first foal by champion miler Kingman next Spring. Nathaniel, meanwhile, continues stallion duties at Newsells Park. Reflecting on what both the race and Enable meant for Nathaniel’s stallion prospects, Julian Dollar, general manager of Newsells Park Stud, said: “The King George remains one of the greatest middle-distance races in Europe for the Classic crop to test themselves against the older generation and long may that continue. Nathaniel’s impressive win in the race was certainly what cemented our interest in him and led us to buy 50% of him over the 2011-12 winter. “Far too many stallions are written off before they even have three-year-old runners, and that was basically the case with Nathaniel. By making the case for how much he and indeed his siblings improved from two to three-years-old – remember that he improved 37lbs from two to three – we were able to persuade some breeders to be patient, but his book of mares following his first two-year-olds was his smallest by some margin. “However, here was Enable, a filly from his very first crop, carrying all before her, beating both sexes and all ages. She certainly put Nathaniel on the map and while he has produced another Classic winner in French Oaks winner, Channel, as well as a multitude of other Group 1, 2 & 3 winners, Nathaniel will probably always be remembered as the sire of Enable.”

Sebastian’s Action Trust is a regional charity that works alongside families of seriously ill and life-limited children, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. They provide whole-family respite breaks and day visits at their two respite homes, The Woodlands in Crowthorne, Berkshire and The Bluebells in Hampshire. The King George VI & Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes is a long standing Breeders’ Cup Win & You’re In Challenge race and the winner will earn an automatic spot for the Longines Turf. That Grade 1 races is run over the same distance as the King George, a mile and a half, and often attracts some of the top talent from Europe and America. In 2016 Highland Reel completed the double with victory at Ascot in July followed by success in the Breeders’ Cup in November which was held at Santa Anita that year. Enable is also intertwined with both races having won the King George three times in 2017, 2019 and 2020 as well as the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Churchill Downs in 2018. The Challenge Series is now in its 15th year and horses from around the world have already been qualifying for the 2021 Breeders’ Cup World Championships which takes place on 5th and 6th November at Del Mar. Another horse will add their name to the list on Saturday and we look forward to seeing who that will be.

ASCOT SUPPORTS WHERE ARE THEY NOW

ABSEIL – Owned and ridden by Tracy Sieminski 11-year-old gelding by First Defence, formerly trained by Sir Michael Stoute Abseil can lay claim to being the best-bred horse currently registered with RoR. Bred by Juddmonte Farms in Kentucky, his dam, Intercontinental, won a Breeders Cup race and he is closely related to the stallions Champs Elysees and Dansili. He went into training with Sir Michael Stoute in Newmarket but an indicator of the injury problems he would face throughout his racing career was that he did not make his racecourse debut until he was a four-year-old. Later that season he was sent off favourite for the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot where he finished a respectable 8th of 28. In all, Abseil ran 12 times, winning twice before retiring in 2015. Abseil then moved on to Cheveral House Racehorse Rehoming in Nottinghamshire, an operation run by Hayley Turner’s mother, Kate. It was there that Tracy Sieminski first laid eyes on Abseil when she was looking for a potential former racehorse to take on and retrain. Under Tracy’s care and enjoying his new life on the Welsh coast in the sleepy village of Trelawynd, Abseil has since embarked on a second career, competing in a variety of disciplines. He has won at dressage, taking part in the BHS finals, then in 2017 Abseil made on his debut at the RoR National Championships at Aintree where he competed in the ridden and in-hand showing classes. And in 2018 he qualified for Eland Lodge Cross Country finals. 36 WHERE ARE THEY NOW

However, it is as an Endurance horse that Abseil has enjoyed the most success, winning him the prize of RoR Elite Endurance Horse at the 2019 RoR Awards. Covering a distance of 30 miles and next month the pair aim to complete their longest one yet, 40 miles in Clocaenog near Ruthin. “All my friends call me crazy but he’s a bit crazy too, so we make a decent match. If he doesn’t know you and you entered his field, he chases you out! You’ve got to find out what they like and all their little quirks and he’s got more quirks than any horse I’ve come across, but I wouldn’t swap him for the world now.” “When out riding at home, he is often ridden in a hackamore and is more than happy to do his duty as a riding school pony and my grandchildren regularly ride him. He prefers to live out as he tends to get restless when kept in the box and he’ll escape if given half a chance. So now, he pretty much stays out 24/7, which suits him well.” When Tracy attended the RoR Awards at the Jockey Club Rooms in Newmarket she took the opportunity to visit Sir Michael Stoute’s Freemason Stables, where Abseil had been trained. Head Lass Sarah Deniff recalls what a character Abseil was, adding: “It’s fantastic and so nice you can keep contact with the new owners. I was surprised when Tracy told me about the long distances he covers in his endurance events but it goes to show how versatile they are. It’s amazing how intelligent they are and they will try anything for you.”

THE ASCOT ENQUIRY Georgia Dobie Georgia Dobie may still be an apprentice but she is lucky enough to have already ridden a winner here at Ascot. Based with Eve Johnson Houghton, Georgia is working hard to learn her trade and make her mark as a successful jockey. We find out from Georgia which horse she would have liked to ride from the Ascot history books, who she would invite for dinner and what a typical day looks like for a hard working apprentice jockey. 1. You have been lucky enough to have already ridden a winner here at Ascot, how are you feeling ahead of your ride tomorrow? I am luckily enough to have had a few spins round ascot in my career so far. I managed to have my first winner at the track here last year on a favourite of mine called My Style he won the Bateaux London Hanicap. It is always such a buzz to ride at Ascot. 2. If you could win any race at Ascot which race would you choose? I think any high profile race at ascot would be amazing to win, but I think I would have to say the Gold cup as it really proves the best stayers with the likes of Yeats, and Stradivarius winning it in the past. It’s amazing to watch! 3. How did you get into racing? I got into racing when I was about 14 as I live local to Lambourn I was lucky enough to ride out for different trainers on weekends and school holidays. I then had a handful of pony races when I was 15 and I got the buzz from there! 4) 4. Your racing hero/heroin? My racing hero must be Cathy Gannon. In my eyes she’s the best female jockey that’s ever been and I had her as a jockey coach when I first had my licence and she’s great with advice and her determination and attitude is admirable. From the story’s she told me, she never had it easy and her hard work got her to where she is. She’s class. 5. The best careers advice you have been given so far. I would say my best advice I’ve had is probably from my jockey coach John Reid. He is great with advice and always goes through my rides with me. He always says you have to ride the storm with racing as you get good and bad days. 6. You can invite 5 people from the racing industry, past or present, to a box at Ascot, who would you choose to spend your day with? If I got to invite 5 people past or present to a box at ascot I would have to say, Josie Gordon and Georgia Cox as they are both fellow jockeys and great friends of mine, and then I would have to say Lester Piggott, John Reid and probably Henry Cecil as each of them have made a huge stamp to racing within their careers. 7. Has your focus always been to be a flat jockey or has becoming a jump jockey crossed your mind? My focus has always been to be a flat jockey I am 5’2ft and luckily just over 8 stone so I think I would be too small to be a jump jockey! 8. If you had to choose to ride one horse from the Ascot history books, which horse would you choose? It would have to be queen Enable. What a mare she was too watch. 9. The one horse in training you enjoy riding out? I love riding all the horses at work but I think a mare called Lady Elysia would have to be my favourite at home. She’s only rated in the 60’s but she tries so hard and we have won 4 together now, she just gives all the time and that’s all you can ask from a racehorse. 10. What is a normal day for Georgia Dobie? I would get up about 5:30 and walk my dog. Then go into work and muck out and ride 4 lots. Then depending on where I am racing I would set off to the races. If I am in early then I drive back to get to evening stables. It can be long days for jockeys and apprentices but it’s all worth it when you get the good days. 6 0 T H E A SCOT E N Q U I RY
