TODAY’S R ACES Race 1

1.20

2m 1f 46y

Race 2

TOTAL RACE VALUE £5779

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Finished runner-up completed start in points and good start under Rules when landing a Hexham mares’ novice (2m) earlier his month. More on her plate under a penalty but she’s open to improvement.

2 Double Cognac (GB)

Mr R. Tate Fiona Needham Form: F/5-P,

6 11-0

HIIII TIMEFORM VIEW Grape Tree Road mare out of a winning pointer. Unplaced completed start in points, pulled up last time (May 16) and she’s best watched making her hurdles debut now.

3 Fair Flame (GB)

5 11-0

Nathan Moscrop (3) Tongue Strap

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Shaped like a stayer when fifth in a 10-runner Carlisle bumper in March but not in same form at Hexham (2m) earlier this month. Tongue tie reached for on hurdles bow but likely best watched.

4 Kitty Hall (IRE)

7 11-0 Danny McMenamin Cheek Pieces

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Better with each start in mares’ novice hurdles so shade disappointing she’s failed to make an impact in handicaps at Newcastle/Bangor subsequently. Bounce back not ruled out on back of a wind op.

5 Para Queen (IRE)

Jamie Hamilton

6 11-0

B m Fastnet Rock (AUS) - Shegotloose (USA)

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Fair maiden on the Flat in Ireland in 2018 but has yet to better poor form over hurdles and well beaten on the level more recently. Blinkers now the headgear of choice.

8 Somewhat Cloudy (IRE)

Brian Hughes

HHHHH TIMEFORM VIEW Presenting mare out of smart 2 1/2m-3m hurdle winner. Definite promise when second in a Tipperary bumper (18f) in March and, having been acquired for £45,000 since, she’s very interesting now hurdling. Verdict Not a particularly strong event and it may pay to side with hurdles debutante SOMEWHAT CLOUDY. There was definite promise to glean from her Tipperary bumper second on debut in March (conceded 12lb to the winner) and she’s the type to make her mark as a hurdler (out of a smart 2 1/2m-3m winner). Hexham scorer Gentle Jolie and Kitty Hall head up the dangers, in that order.

fillies and mares.

Mrs A. F. Tullie Iain Jardine Form: 46-4,

Conor O’Farrell Hood

On the Road Again 2 Alistair Whillans Form: F3-3,

Callum Bewley

6 Tawseef (IRE)

13 11-5 Abbie McCain (5) Cheek Pieces

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Fairly useful hurdler at his best but at the veteran stage now and doesn’t appear to be in much form.

7 Black Label (GB)

B g Medicean - Black Belt Shopper (IRE)

Miss E. J. Butterworth Barbara Butterworth Form: P0-P,

9 Seapoint (IRE)

7 10-13

B m Footstepsinthesand - Genuinely (IRE)

Give It A Go partners Joanne Foster Form: 53-3,

Miss Becky Smith (3) Blinkers

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Only one win from 27 runs, but she arrives in decent nick, third of 10 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen last time. Should give another good account.

10 Gripper (GB)

6 10-10

B g Thewayyouare (USA) - Hold On Tight (IRE)

Mrs H. Kelly Lucinda Russell Form: 24-3,

Derek Fox Blinkers, Tongue Strap

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Dual purpose performer who ran well when third at Perth 18 days ago. His record away from that track is pretty uninspiring, though.

Mr John P. McManus Ben Haslam Form: 650-,

Richie McLernon Cheek Pieces

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Veteran who has seemed badly out of sorts recently. Hard to make a case for despite sliding mark.

2 Tico Times (IRE)

8 11-12

Br g Arcadio (GER) - Roomier (IRE)

Mrs Evelyn Slack Dianne Sayer Form: 14-2,

Conor O’Farrell

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Landed back-to-back novice handicap chases earlier this year and performed with credit when second at Sedgefield 20 days ago. One to note from lower hurdles mark.

3 Liffeydale Dreamer (IRE)

6 11-9

B m Azamour (IRE) - Owega Dale (IRE)

Worcester Racing Club and Partner Sam England Jonathan England Form: 20-4, Tongue Strap Cheek Pieces

HHHHH TIMEFORM VIEW Modest hurdler who wasn’t disgraced when fourth at Huntingdon 25 days ago and was a ready winner on only previous visit to this track. Makes plenty of appeal back in cheekpieces.

4 Bird On The Wire (FR)

6 11-8

Ch g Martaline - Titi Jolie (FR)

Donald McCain Racing Club Donald McCain Form: 6P-2,

Theo Gillard (5) Tongue Strap

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Creditable second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Bangor (19.6f, heavy, 15/2) 16 days ago, just failing. Up 4lb, so needs another step forward if he’s to go one better, but could be up to it.

5 Frankie Baby (IRE)

Ross Chapman

HIIII TIMEFORM VIEW Well held in bumpers/over hurdles for Thomas Foley and faces uphill task starting out for a new yard after 168 days off.

12 11-12

B g Westerner - Beautiful World (IRE)

Danny McMenamin Blinkers

HIIII TIMEFORM VIEW Ended time with Karl Thornton with narrow success at Bellewstown (3m) in August 2019 but no show back from an absence for new yard this year.

THE TONY CONNELL MEMORIAL HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 5) (DIV II)

8 11-7

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW In good form since the turn of the year, arriving on the back of a brace of third-place finishes at up to 20.5f. Should give it another good go.

TIMEFORM 1-2-3: 1.TOO MUCH TO ASK (IRE) 2.DANCING DOUG (IRE) 3.SEAPOINT (IRE)

7 11-10

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Winning hurdler/chaser but arrives on back of a few tame displays. Easily passed over for all the handicapper continues to relent.

5 11-0

B m Presenting - Clara Mc Cloud (IRE)

Miss C. McCracken Donald McCain Form: 2-,

Verdict TOO MUCH TO ASK has become well treated and drops in grade back at a track where he’s produced his best efforts, so a chance is taken on him in an open race. In-form pair Dancing Doug and Seapoint should be thereabouts once again.

B m Sulamani (IRE) - More Likely

5 11-0

HHHII TIMEFORM VIEW Long-standing maiden on the Flat but she did shape quite well when fourth in a Bangor maiden hurdle (16.6f) 16 days ago, plenty to do 3 out but nearest at the finish. May do better.

Bruce Lynn (5) Tongue Strap Cheek Pieces

HHHII TIMEFORM VIEW Has fallen plenty in the weights and last couple of efforts have been a bit more encouraging. Tricky sort, but still warrants consideration with cheekpieces on for the first time.

Tarzan Bloodstock & Mr Oliver Brownlee Nicky Richards Sean Quinlan Form: 140-,

4 Tokaramore (GB)

B m Fast Company (IRE) - Alafzara (IRE)

B g Shaanmer (IRE) - Diamond of Diana (FR)

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW In the frame all starts in bumpers and got off the mark switched to hurdling in a weak affair at Musselburgh (2m) in November. Below form both subsequent outings and mark looks too high.

5 11-0

HHHII TIMEFORM VIEW Modest Flat winner for Heather Main. Showed a bit on yard/hurdles debut when fifth in a Sedgefield novice (16.8f) in November but below par under both codes since.

6 She Got Fast (IRE)

12 Christmas In Usa (FR)

3 Headscarf Lil (IRE)

B m Fame And Glory - Set In Her Ways (IRE)

Langdale Bloodstock Nicky Richards Form: 230-,

5 11-11

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Has fallen in the weights and posted a decent third in a handicap hurdle at Carlisle (17f) in April. Seemed stretched by 20f at Hexham latest, so big stamina doubts up further in trip.

Ch m Trans Island - Mrs Eff

2 Coup de Gold (IRE)

Brian Hughes Cheek Pieces

HHHII TIMEFORM VIEW Fair maiden on the Flat for Roger Varian and, while yet to show much over hurdles for current stable, he’s potentially well in now up in trip/handicapping for the first time. Also in cheekpieces.

HHHII TIMEFORM VIEW Modest hurdler who put up one of his better efforts on form when second at Fontwell last time, albeit doing it in typically laboured fashion. Hard to know if he’ll be in the same mood.

Gr g Milan - Dromhale Lady (IRE)

Ms Jennie Candlish Jennie Candlish Form: 01-6,

HHHII TIMEFORM VIEW Scored over fences at Sedgefield in November and is likely to strip fitter for his first run since in a handicap hurdle at Warwick 28 days ago. Visor is back on.

8 Grumpy McGrumpface (IRE) Mile High Racing Rebecca Menzies Form: P0-0,

Ross Chapman Cheek Pieces

HHHII TIMEFORM VIEW Modest hurdler who has an uninspiring profile and was well held on debut for current stable at Hexham 13 days ago. Dropped 5lb since and tried back with cheekpieces now.

9 Istimraar (IRE)

Sam Coltherd Tongue Strap Cheek Pieces

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Largely consistent since switched to fences and best overlooked his poor effort (mistakes, arguably didn’t stay) at this track over 25.5f 2 days ago. Back over hurdles.

B g High Chaparral (IRE) - Alinea (USA)

Mrs S. F. Dixon John Dixon Form: 0/36-,

Mr John Dixon (7)

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW It’s been more than 3 years since his latest success and his latest Carlisle sixth hardly suggests he’s likely to snap that losing run soon.

12 Ardglass Star (IRE)

7 10-7

B g Arctic Cosmos (USA) - Verney Roe (IRE)

The Friday Lions 2 Rose Dobbin Form: PU5-,

Craig Nichol Tongue Strap

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Modest, albeit highly inconsistent hurdler who shaped as if the test was inadequate over 3m at Newcastle last time, so this drop in trip here is unlikely to suit. Verdict LIFFEYDALE DREAMER landed a C&D novice in impressive fashion last summer and she’s edged down to an appealing mark, so is preferred to Tico Times, who is potentially well in based on recent chasing efforts. Bird On The Wire also warrants consideration.

Mr John P. McManus Ben Haslam Form: 041-,

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Veteran hurdler/chaser who took his tally to three for last season when landing a 4-runner handicap over fences at Newcastle a couple of months ago. Deserves plenty of respect after small rise.

10 11-5

Joe Williamson (5) Tongue Strap Cheek Pieces

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Winner of 3 of his 6 starts since joining Mark Walford, including a 6-runner event at Southwell 12 days ago. Shapes as if he’ll stay this far, so another bold showing expected.

3 Dawson City (GB)

12 11-5

B g Midnight Legend - Running For Annie

Kim Franklin & Polly Walker Polly Gundry Form: 136-,

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Run of good form came to an end when only sixth at Ffos Las a couple of months ago and he prefers more testing conditions.

10 11-2

B g Daylami (IRE) - Borntobepampered

Off The Clock Partners & Dr RDP Newland Dr Richard Newland Sam Twiston-Davies Form: 40-P, Cheek Pieces

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Went backwards from reappearance effort at Cheltenham last month and returned to chasing with a lacklustre display at Ffos Las 3 weeks ago.

Mr V. Healy Jennie Candlish Form: 26-P,

Mr I. J. Jardine Iain Jardine Form: 365-,

Conor O’Farrell Cheek Pieces

Verdict The refitting of a visor and return to this trip are both potential catalysts for a big effort from RED GIANT, who is on an appealing mark and can prove a tough nut to crack when on his game. Rock On Fruity and William Of Orange both arrive on the back of comfortable victories and are solid alternatives. TIMEFORM 1-2-3: 1.RED GIANT (IRE) 2.ROCK ON FRUITY (IRE) 3.WILLIAM OF ORANGE

Mrs G. Davies Dai Burchell Form: 154-,

Ben Jones (3)

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Has been a superb servant for this stable and looked as good as ever when winning over C&D last summer. Not in same form next 2 starts and off 8 months but no surprise to see him go well back here.

Dr V. M. G. Ferguson Philip Hobbs Form: 10-5,

HHHHI TIMEFORM VIEW Useful hurdler in 2018. Lightly raced since but confirmed he still has plenty to offer when landing a Hexham novice chase (15.6f) in September. Probably needed run at Kempton after 7 months off.

HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Rattled off a hurdle/chase 4-timer in 2019. However, pulled up final start that year and has underperformed on both starts back from lengthy absence. Plenty to prove.

Verdict VALENCE D’AUMONT arrives at the top of his game having won 3 of his last 4 starts and may still have more to offer. The veteran King Alfonso won over this C&D off a similar mark last summer so rates a threat, while Tonto’s Spirit could be ready to strike. Not in same form at Haydock since, however, adding to patchy record. Verdict FLOWERY was generally progressive for this yard before shaping better than the result when well held at Warwick when last seen in February and is taken to get back on track. HHIII TIMEFORM VIEW Maiden pointer, unplaced last time (May 15). Hard to make a serious case for on Rules debut. Verdict This looks a weak maiden hunter, so it’s worth chancing the Rules debutante GOLD TIME, who arrives on a hat-trick having landed her last two starts in points.
