EPSOM RACE SUMMARY Illykato relished the step up to a mile when hitting the line strong to win at Goodwood on her latest outing and warrants serious interest, however, last year’s winner Summer Romance finished eighth in the 1000 Guineas on her last run and STATEMENT gets the vote to repeat that trend. After a lightly raced juvenile campaign, the daughter of Lawman recorded a career-best effort in the Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes at Newmarket, finishing an ever-closer second, before being far too keen in the early stages of the Classic over the Rowley Mile. If we see her settle like she willingly did on her penultimate start, she rates the one to beat, while Maamora will likely be thereabouts if returning to the level of form witnessed when claiming Group 3 honours on her final appearance last year.
