MUTASAABEQ was desperately unlucky at Sandown on his latest outing, when he travelled best only to be denied a clear run at a vital stage. Charlie Hills' charge can make amends in what represents a drop in class by repelling the challenge of Modern News, who arrives in search of a hat-trick. Megallan should be suited by the drop in distance and he makes plenty of appeal, along with Jebel Hatta runner-up Finest Sound. WIN: MUTASAABEQ

There have been two dead-heats in Derby history. In 1828 Cadland and The Colonel could not be separated so took part in a ‘run-off’ later that afternoon, which the former won. In 1884 St Gatien and Harvester were jointly awarded the race, the only time in Derby history this has happened.
