Haydock Park Racecard - Saturday 6th August

Page 1

THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU

Welcome to Betfred Rose of Lancaster Ladies’ Day, our second day of the Betfred Rose of Lancaster Carnival. We were treated to a wonderful evening of racing yesterday, and look forward to seven fascinating contests today, including The Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes off at 3pm. Following a brilliant performance by RUDIMENTAL after racing yesterday, the racing takes centre stage today. The Group Three Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes over a mile and a quarter if our feature race on the card. This race tends to feature a mix of profiles and some fantastic horses have won it over the years, including top-class performers Nayef, Jukebox Jury and the four-time Group One winner Addeybb. We would like to wish all connections of today’s runners the best of luck. The supporting card today also includes the Listed BSS EBF Dick Hern Stakes for the fillies over a mile. William Haggas has an excellent recent record in this race, winning it three times since 2014, and considering the season he’s having it would be no surprise should he go close in yet another Group race this term. As well as the racing, the fashion is to the forefront for our Ladies’ Day. We have partnered up with brands such as Forever Unique, House of Cavani, Mercure Hotels and Betfred to ensure that we have some incredible prizes up for grabs, making this the most extensive prize package for a Ladies Day Style Award at Haydock Park! Forever Unique is a luxury fashion brand specialising in ladies occasion wear. Established by Seema Malhotra and her husband Sandeep in 2008, Forever Unique has paved the way for accessible and affordable designer fashion, being a go-to brand for celebrities on the red carpet and empowering women through the power of beautiful clothes. We encourage you all to enter the Style Award today, and can do so by simply heading to one of the Style Pods located in either the Paddock enclosure or near to the Kauto Star statue. You’ll be photographed either individually or as part of a group, whichever you’d prefer, enter your details to the available staff and you’ll be included as part of our Style Competition. One of our team will then be in touch if you have been shortlisted as a finalist. Good luck! We would like to thank all our partners today, including Betfred who are our title partner for the Rose of Lancaster Carnival. We wish them and their guests a wonderful day. We hope you have a brilliant day with us, and we hope to see you back here for our Sky Bet Sunday Series tomorrow evening, with the first race off at 3:45pm. Best wishes. Molly Dingwall General Manager

DON’T FORGET OUR NEXT MEETING - TOMORROW SUNDAY 7TH AUGUST THE SKY BET SUNDAY SERIES Day 3 of the Rose of Lancaster will form part of the Sky Bet Sunday Series is an exciting concept for British racing taking place this summer which The Jockey Club is proud to be a part of.

This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. PLAY SMARTER

Cases can be made for most but the most compelling is for DARK SWANSONG. Clive Cox’s charge looked unlucky not to finish closer at Lingfield last week, and with Adam Kirby back on board and first-time blinkers replacing the cheekpieces, he’s fancied to bring up career victory number 2. Verreaux Eagle’s stamina was possibly stretched at Chester 3 weeks ago so he heads up the opposition, with Above It All also expected to be in the mix.

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.

The Horserace Betting Levy Board prize fund schemes provide for the estimated inclusion of £2,124,530 at this racecourse in 2022.
