WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM

INFORMATION Thank you for joining us today for the Betway Kachy Stakes & Winter Derby Trial for 2021 at Lingfield Park from the comfort of your homes. The first of our two Listed races of the afternoon, the Betway Kachy Stakes, has been renamed in honour of the Dave Lowe-owned sprinter Kachy - who won this race (previously Cleves Stakes) in 2018 and 2019, including setting the track record on his most recent success. It could be an incredibly poignant moment should Fizzy Feet land the spoils of this 6 furlong contest, this five-year-old mare is owned by David Lowe and recorded an impressive win in a Class 2 contest over course and distance just two weeks ago - so I’m sure a success for them would mean more to them than just winning. The second ‘Fast Track Qualifier’ this afternoon, which guarantees a free entry for our Good Friday’s All Weather Championship Finals Day, is the Betway Winter Derby Trial. This 1 mile 2 furlongs Listed race will see last year’s winner Bangkok return to defend his crown, a race where he broke the track record 12 months ago (2m0.54s) and is likely to go off a warm favourite at 1:45. This race is the perfect prep for the prestigious Group 3 Betway Winter Derby, which takes place on Saturday 27th February, so don’t forget to tune in and watch it live on Sky Sports Racing and ITV Racing in 3 weeks’ time. I would also like to thank our race sponsors today, Betway and Ladbrokes, for their continued support throughout the All Weather Championships. Where ever you find yourself today we hope you find the time to join us or follow on social media to feel a little closer to the behind closed-door action. Amy Smith Executive Director

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

WHERE TO BET There are a variety of places to bet at the course; The Tote has selling points throughout the racecourse - easily identified by the Tote Betting or totepool signs. The bookmakers are located in front of the grandstand in the ‘Betting Ring’. The bookmakers display their odds for each race and compete to offer the best price to customers. These are fixed price bets and the amount of your winnings will be printed on your betting slip. Search around to get the best price for your selection. Mimimum Stakes The Tote has a minimum bet of £2. The bookmakers vary but if they have a minimum it will be shown on the boards displaying their odds. If in doubt – just ask.

A preview of today’s race card by Chad Yeomans of Betway.

1

Talking Point’s topspeed figure from her second last time out reads very well and James Tate’s filly will be very hard to beat if she can reproduce that run. Merry Secret stumbled badly coming out of the stalls last time, which scuppered his chances. He had some smart form last season and was once rated 74, so he does look feasibly treated off his current mark of 61.

2

Count Otto was a C&D winner last time out but has been hiked up 6lb for that narrow 1l success. Diligent Lady is having her first run since September last year, but she was progressive in her six starts and is still unexposed. Take note of any market support for her.

3

Ante-post favourite Misty Grey is 3/3 since joining Tom Dascombe’s yard and the change of scenery has seen him get back to winning ways. The David Lowe owned Fizzy Feet would be a fitting winner for the connections who owned Kachy, who this race is named after. She was a good winner last time out and is well drawn in stall 2.

4

Bangkok is bidding for back-to-back successes in the Betway Winter Derby Trial, following an impressive victory 12 months ago. He has to reverse the form with Felix from their latest Wolverhampton run, but he made his own running that day, which wouldn’t have been ideal for him. Reverting to more patient tactics under Ryan Moore can see him turn the tables.

5

Coupe De Champange is seeking a hat-trick of successes, following two wins last month, but has been put up 12lbs since the first victory. Easy Equation caught the eye at Lingfield last time out and has been dropped 3lbs too. This step up in trip should suit him. Leading AWC rider Richard Kingscote is on board for the first time.

6

Kingdom Found was third at Newcastle last time out in what was a much-improved performance following some below bar runs. She runs off the same mark again in this contest.Classy Dame stayed on very well to finish second at Wolverhampton last time out. She’s been put up 4lb for that effort and has to concede weight all round here.

7

All eyes will be on the Frankel filly Waldfabel who bolted up at Kempton last time. She looked above average that day and should be very tough to beat here. Prismitic should be able to follow her home, based on the form of her three career runs to date, where she has finished third on each start.

8

Devizes is 2/2 from in 2021 and is looking to complete a hat-trick, following his latest success at Kempton Park on Saturday night. He’s been put up another 3lbs for that victory.Three Dragons has always shaped as though he’d want this stiffer trip and should be respected for rookie trainer, Joseph Parr.

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (16-21): J Gosden (62 wins from 233 runners, 27%) runs FOREST OF DEAN TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): J Gosden (4 wins from 11 runners, 36%) runs FOREST OF DEAN FANCY THAT: J Gosden won this race in 2018 and 2019. The stable runs FOREST OF DEAN today. LONGEST TRAVELLER: RED VERDON trained by E Dunlop, Newmarket, 95 miles. RACE SUMMARY It’s easy enough to find the most persuasive piece of form, with FELIX doing well to reel in Bangkok at Wolverhampton last month, with Forest of Dean back in third. They race off level weights this time but the placings may well be upheld. 1-2-3: 1.FELIX 2.BANGKOK (IRE) 3.FOREST OF DEAN KEY colours
