WELCOME WELCOME to our Hunter Chase evening of racing. This is only our second fixture since March 2019 in which we have had spectators and we are still operating within the BHA and Government guidelines. Not all of our facilities are operating normally but we are hopeful that you will have an enjoyable evening. The 4th race tonight is the 62nd Running of the Horse and Hound Cup Champion Hunters Chase which is always one of the best Hunter Chases of the year and we are extremely grateful to Tim and June Watts and Sue Wilcox of Pertemps Network, the UKs largest independent recruitment specialists based in Meriden, for once again supporting this jewel in the Hunter Chase calendar so generously. This year is also the fourth running of Skinner’s Ladies Open Point to Point Championship final, we are incredibly grateful to Will Delamore for his company’s involvement during the 2020/21 pointing season. It has been a long and difficult season and we have some great horses lining up tonight. Irish Thoroughbred Marketing are delighted to support The Championship Point-to-Point meeting at Stratford On Avon. With the 2021 Land Rover Irish Store Sales in the offing, ITM look forward to assisting new and existing Owners and Trainers with their visit to Ireland. Whether it be through assisting with hotel reservations, airport transfers or a helpful inward buyer programme, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing can help with your sale arrangements. As part of ITM’s sponsorship today, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing will award a Euro 1,500 voucher to the Winning Owner of The Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Champion ‘Point to Point’ Bumper on 28th May 2021. Please note, this voucher is redeemable against a purchase at an Irish Bloodstock Sale in 2021 and is subject to terms and conditions. We are also extremely grateful to The White Swan Hotel in Stratford, and Weatherby’s all of whom are contributing to the prize money of their races. We would also like to thank the Joint Masters of the Croome and West Warwickshire Hunt who are allowing their hunt staff to assist us this evening. Have a wonderful race meeting and we hope to see you back for more racing tomorrow night. With best wishes,

Ilona Barnett, Racecourse Manager Mrs Ilona Barnett - RACECOURSE MANAGER AND COMPANY SECRETARY Wendy Rollason - MARKETING AND CORPORATE HOSPITALITY

Fumet D’Oudairies (FR) and Jack Andrews. ©Neale Blackburn (chasdog.com)

Rags to riches star to steal the limelight W ill he stay? That’s the big question regarding Fumet D’ Oudairies in this year’s premier Novices Hunter Chase sponsored by the Point to Point Racing Company and taking place at Stratford on Friday evening. Purchased for just 761 guineas at Goffs in 2019, Fumet D’ Oudairies’ rise through the ranks has been a real rags-toriches story and victory here would be a fine advertisement for the grass roots of the sport and all it has to offer.

Boasting a career record of six wins from seven starts and having shown form on all types of going (we hold no truck with the view that he was unsuited by the ground at Dingley given that he was sauccessful in the soft last season,) his chief asset has been a sharp turn of foot – no better illustrated than at Cheltenham last time where he stalked runner-up Envoye Special before quickening to the front on the run to the last. That though, was over a trip of just two miles and although he has won at a course like Horseheath over the standard distance , three and a half miles around Stratford is a whole

different card game. Only the race will tell us but on the plus side Stratford is a track that favours those with speed and agility and Fumet D’ Oudairies holds both of these in spades. In a small but select filed, chief opposition appears likely to come from the Bradley Gibbs trained duo Premier Magic and Captain Mcginley. The former landed the prestigious Lady Dudley Cup over three and a quarter miles last time out and is unbeaten in all starts this season. Probably his best performance though came back in December with a seven length defeat of Wishing and Hoping at the same course. At face value that form would make him a warm order here, but there are reasons to think the runner-up was not in the same form as he showed in last Friday’s Worcester victory whilst the times of all Premier Magic races this season have been a little on the slow side. In contrast, the stable’s Captain Mcginley clocked an outstanding time at Cheltenham’s Hunter chase Evening meeting last time out. Storming away from the top of the hill, he forged further clear up the run-in to finish more than twenty lengths ahead of the runner-up and some fifty lengths clear of the pe-race favourite Benefaktor who has since franked the form when successful at Edgcote. Neither the going nor the trip should hold any qualms and if there is a chink in Fumet D’ Oudairies

armour, then Captain McgInley looks the one most likely to expose it. Of the others , the Irish challenger Vaucelet adds further spice to the contest. Winner of his only Hunter chase at Down Royal back at the start of this month, his chances are difficult to gauge but although soft ground would certainly help his cause, his overall form , both over hurdles and fences, appears a little below the mark required. His trainer has had eight previous runners at this festival without success. In conclusion, Premier Magic probably makes the market helped by an unbeaten season and the Bradley Gibbs factor. What this means however is that there might be value available in supporting both his stable companion Captain McgInley (the speed figure selection) and Fumet D’ Oudairies against him. Whoever emerges victorious looks sure to be a worthy winner of the Pointtopoint.co.uk Champion Novice title and join a roll of honour which includes such hallowed greats as Titus Oats, Otter Way and Earthmover. Once the first race has been run, there will be no refunds. ADMISSION RIGHTS The Racecourse Executive reserves the right to refuse admission or to expel, without prior notice, any racegoer who, in the opinion if the Racecourse Executive, behaves or is likely to behave in an unruly or unacceptable manner. Examples of unruly or unacceptable behaviour include violent or abusive conduct, drunkenness, singing or shouting and intimidation of other racegoers. This list is not exhaustive. The Management does not accept liabilty for loss or damage to visitors’ effects, vehicles or other property whilst on these premises. Any individual found contravening these conditions will be evicted. RADIOS AND MOBILE TELEPHONES The use of all types of communication equipment is strictly controlled at all racecourses. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc., for any purpose at the racecourse. Mobile telephones may not be used in or near any designated betting area, or for off-course betting purposes. Further details are available from the racecourse office. HORSE WELFARE “Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider”. Like most sports racing carries risks, however, we work to make sure that no death or injury occurs, which could have been prevented. Here at Stratford Racecourse we are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. At every meeting we have two specially qualified Equine Vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action. There is also a British Horseracing Authority Vet in attendance. During the race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend to a horse in the same response time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating the injured jockeys. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected round the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION In the event of an emergency all persons on the racecourse will be alerted by the following message over the public address system. This is an emergency announcement. Due to circumstances beyond our control, racing has been temporarily suspended. Would all patrons please evacuate ALL buildings and make your way across the racetrack to the Red post marker in the Centre of the Course. Police and Racecourse Officials will assist and direct you. Please do not go to any Car Park until you are cleared to do so, because you may hamper the movement of emergency vehicles. The message will then be repeated. BROKEN GLASSES AND BOTTLES Broken glasses and bottles are dangerous. In the interests of safety and the comfort of others please do not carry drinks on to the steppings of the stand, or the areas adjacent to the parade ring or unsaddling enclosure.

FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY We would ask all racegoers to refrain from using flash photography whilst on course. NOTICES Weights, Pedigrees, Trainers’ Names, Descriptions, Performances and Values of races have been added for the convenience of the Public, but are subject to alteration. All horses must parade in the Parade Ring except by permission of the Stewards, but in all cases must pass through the Ring on the way to the Post. The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone and to remove any person from the Course without assigning a reason for so doing and do not accept responsibility for loss or damage to persons or their property. LITTER BINS Please help us to keep Stratford clean and tidy by using the litter bins in all enclosures. BETTING WITH THE BOOKMAKERS Racegoers are advised that bookmakers are not obliged to pay until the ‘Weighed in’ is announced, nor to remain on the course more than 10 minutes after that announcement. CHECK YOUR TICKETS Customers of the Boards and Rails bookmakers should check their itemised tickets immediately on receipt, as mistakes cannot be rectified after the “off”. Customers are reminded to retain all betting tickets until after the weigh-in, as immediate payment will be made only on production of the original ticket. All tickets will remain valid for three months.
