SUPER SAVER SATURDAY SATURDAY 4 JANUARY 2025
OFFICI AL R ACEC ARD £3.50
The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2024
WELCOME TO
I am thrilled to welcome you to our first event of the year at Wincanton – Saver Saturday! A special greeting to the members of the local farming community today. Our goal is to unite the agricultural community in raising awareness of mental health issues within the farming industry, in partnership with RABI and The Yellow Wellies. In celebration of Saver Saturday, we’re offering a special deal at all our bars – enjoy a pint, a can of wine, or a single house spirit and mixer for just £5. In addition to the seven races on the track, there’s plenty of entertainment around the course. Be sure not to miss the parade of our RoR horse, Fortunate George, at 11:45am in the parade ring. You can also enjoy live music from One Tree Hill throughout the day in The Badger Bar. The Wincanton Young Farmers will be running activities all day, so keep an eye out for them and don’t forget to visit RABI in Potter’s Corner. A big thank you to our sponsors Unibet, Redlynch Tractors, and RECO JCB for their invaluable support. We hope to see you at our next fixture on Thursday, January 16th, or at our feature meeting, Bet MGM Kingwell Hurdle Day, where we welcome the whole family – including your dogs! Wishing you all the best for the New Year! Blaithin Murphy General Manager
DON’T FORGET OUR NEXT MEETING THURSDAY 1TH JANUARY JANUARY JUMPS Beat those January blues by joining us for Jump racing on Thursday 16 January. We have seven superb races on offer. Get your friends and family together for a great day out!

EXPERT VIEW
A quick way to see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions.
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
Look out for Letters: C D CD BF
= Has won at this course = Has won over this distance = Has won over this distance at this course = Was a beaten favourite
MORE INFORMATION ON THE FORM / P F U R CO B S r
= New racing season = Missed racing season = Was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race = Horse fell = Rider unseated = Horse refused to race = The horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse = Horse was brought down = Horse slipped = The horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race = Disqualified
d Bold form figures = performance in all-weather (Flat) or Point-to-Point (Jump) races
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse. 3. Timeform view and TFR rating 4. HORSE’S TRAINER & THEIR LOCATION
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race. 5. JOCKEYS Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day. OTHER USEFUL DETAILS 6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey 7. Saddlecloth number 8. Horse’s name 9. Days since the horse last run 10. Horse’s age 11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs) 12. BETTING EXPLAINED Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

ABANDONED RACING
EMERGENCY EVACUATION
In the event of abandonment before the conclusion of the first race, racegoers will receive a full refund. If racing is abandoned between the first and third races, 50% will be refunded. Thereafter no refunds will be made. Applications must be made in writing to the Racecourse Office within 14 days of the race meeting and must be accompanied by the paper admission ticket. No refunds will be available on the day of racing. If racing is abandoned prior to the raceday, or before gates open, all pre-booked tickets that have been paid for in advance will automatically be refunded in full.
Whilst we always endeavour to take appropriate steps to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is, therefore, important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. We employ Safety Officials whose job it is to ensure your safety. In the event of a situation which requires a partial or full evacuation of the Stands, announcements will be broadcast and the Officials will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your belongings with you and proceed out of the enclosure quickly and quietly under their guidance. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. It may give you peace of mind if you pre-plan and agree a meeting place with your party, just in case you become separated. If we are unable to reoccupy the Stands for any reason, you will be advised immediately, and, if it is considered safe to do so, you will be invited to return to your car or coach. These are precautionary arrangements which we trust will not be required. However, in the event of an emergency please remember; Take your belongings with you and under direction of the officials proceed quickly and quietly to the safe area then to your agreed rendezvous point or to your car or coach.

IMPORTANT
NOTICES
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Wincanton Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
PRIZE MONEY
The Horserace Betting Levy Board prize fund schemes provide for the estimated inclusion of £253,319 in ratecard and incremental prize money at this racecourse from 1st January to 28th March 2025.
HEALTH AND SAFETY NOTICE The Racecourse would be grateful if you would observe all Health & Safety requirements whilst you are at Wincanton Racecourse. The emergency exits from the bars onto the grandstand stepping are painted yellow and we would request that you do not stop whilst in this area. We would also request that only those that are disabled use the disabled viewing ramp and that parents keep a close eye on all children and prevent them from climbing the running rails and getting on to the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that the first aid room is located adjacent to the weighing room.
IN-RUNNING BETTING Please note that in-running betting is not allowed in any public areas of Wincanton Racecourse. As expressly permitted by the Wincanton Racecourse Special Conditions, attendees may not use mobile telephones, laptop computers or any other communications device whilst on the Racecourse to communicate with anyone outside the Racecourse for the purpose of or in connection with any betting. Any racegoer found to be in breach of this rule will be removed from the Racecourse.
