Retail Development T

he Anderson County Chamber of Commerce Retail Development Initiative was established in January of 2013 to promote retail and commercial growth as well as the retention and development of existing businesses throughout Anderson County. Anderson County is a part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located approximately 15 miles northwest of Knoxville, Tennessee. The area has shown steady, solid growth over the past decade. The population in Anderson County rose 1,994 to 77,123 with the 2020 Census. Countywide sales tax collections were 16% above 2020 as of September 2021. The new Lewallen Bridge over the Clinch River opened to traffic on October 12, 2021, and an official ribbon cutting with TDOT was held on November 1. The three-year plus project began in September 2018. Maude W. Brown Memorial Park, a new pocket park on Market Street, opened to the public in May thanks to the

generosity of Cathy Brown. The Gazebo and Historic Marker for Marketplace of Pearls has been set in the park. The City of Clinton was designated as a TN Main Street in June of 2021 after completing two successful years as a TN Downtown. Katherine Birkbeck was named the Historic Downtown Clinton Program Director. The TN Main Street Program follows the proven downtown revitalization model developed by the National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Visit: www.historicdowntownclinton.org for more information. The Carden Farm Dog Park opened on November 5 with large and small dog sections and a walking trail. Built on 17 acres obtained by the City of Clinton several years ago from TVA, the dog park was largely paid for by a $25,000 grant from the Knoxville-based Randy Boyd Foundation. Additional amenities will be added in the future. The construction of Aspire Park, which began in September 2019, continues. Aspire Park will offer a combination of special experiences throughout the park. Estimated completion spring of 2023. For more information visit: www.alwaysaspire.com. Main Street, FARM Market (Farmer’s Market) in downtown Clinton, Fast Pace Urgent Care in Rocky Top, Kook Hibachi, Hometown Hardware in Andersonville, El Indio Mexican Grill & Bar in Centre Plaza, The Norris Market in Norris, and Wendy’s on S.
