ABOUT HER: vien is the love of my life but is also the only girl i know who is "one of the boys"

Dental school is where Vien and Vincent's love blossomed, meeting at a crawfish boil in 2014. Vincent won Vien over by charmingly recounting the first time he saw her.

For an unforgettable proposal, Vincent planned a trip to see the northern lights in Alaska, fulfilling Vien's childhood dream. Despite winter weather making the lights elusive, Vincent persevered. His magical moment came around 3 a.m. "Needless to say, Vien got her dream proposal under the northern lights, and it made for an epic Instagram post," shares the groom.

Surprises continued in Houston with a combined engagementbirthday celebration for Vien.

The couple began their wedding celebrations with an intimate Buddhist ceremony honoring their Vietnamese and Taiwanese heritages, which Vien's 93-year-old grandmother was able to attend.

On September 9, 2023, Vien and Vincent exchanged vows at their dream venue, The Astorian. The bride says, "I chose the Astorian because of how structurally beautiful it is. Even if we didn't place a single flower in the room, the 1920s glamor and Art Deco design with inspiration from New York City's Grand Central Station combined with the views of downtown Houston are enough to make a statement."

The couple honored their roots by incorporating a lion dance, chào bàn, an Asian-inspired DIY beverage station, and a paper lantern sendoff, into the celebration, creating a breathtaking scene.

Another sweet detail? A tooth-shaped ice sculpture, paying homage to their dental school roots. Vien dazzled in glass slippers as the couple rode off in a pumpkin-colored Jeep, a nod to her childhood love of “Cinderella.”

Vanderbilt alums Megan and David's college friendship blossomed into romance when they reconnected while working in Ohio. As Megan pursued her MBA in Austin, David soon joined her in the Lone Star State and began their life together.

When Megan returned from a walk on a December morning, she was shocked to find their pup Leo greet her while sporting a ring box. David then emerged and proposed, completely surprising Megan. An epic celebration followed with loved ones, even out-oftowners, gathering for blue margaritas and Mexican food.

On June 24th, 2023, the couple wed in the same synagogue in which her parents married 30 years ago. The couple included nostalgic touches from her parents' ceremony, like verdant greenery archways, and "A Whole New World" from Aladdin playing as Megan walked down the aisle.

The reception space was a colorful floral fantasy. Floral fabric adorned the space, creating a garden vibe indoors. Food stations like a tater tot cone wall, a queso fountain and a bourbon bar, a nod to David's Kentucky roots, brought fun elements to the elegant celebration. The tributes to Megan's parents' wedding continued through the reception. Megan donned her mother's wedding gown for her reception dress, and Susie's Cakes designed a replica of her parents' wedding cake. The bride says, "It was an amazing night and one we will remember forever."

Kristin and Logan's love story began with a bit of friendly matchmaking in Houston in March, 2018. Set up by two of their lifelong friends, Kristin and Logan's love story began. "We have them to thank for it all, and they don't let us forget it," the bride says.

Their love story continued in Denver on one of their annual trips. Kristin planned every detail, certain a proposal wouldn't happen on this vacation. But Logan had other ideas, arranging a romantic lunch and winery tour where he surprised his bride-to-be by getting down on one knee.

On March 4, 2023, Kristin and Logan pledged their love at the historic Corinthian Houston. Neutral hues dominated this elegant affair. Their wedding ceremony featured blooming florals adorning the grand staircase and a breathtaking floral installation as a backdrop for the couple's nuptials.

Susie's Cakes created a stunning five-tier wedding cake with intricate white florals as the reception's focal point. More neutral blooms, candlelight and floral-infused chandeliers transformed the space into a warm, romantic setting. Laughter and happy tears flowed throughout the lively celebration. The bride names her father's tear-jerking speech as a favorite moment from their wedding day.

As the evening continued, Kristin changed into a sparkly fringe dress and cowboy boots to dance the night away. The festivities ended with a grand exit showering the newlyweds in rose petals.

Emily and John's romance blossomed in 2018 when mutual friends introduced the pair. With Emily living in San Antonio at the time and John calling Austin home, John made the 80-mile trip south for their first date. Feeling an instant connection, the pair tried to visit one another any chance they could.

After nearly five years of dating, John planned a surprise proposal under a gazebo nestled in Houston's Heights neighborhood at Marmion Park. When Emily arrived, she found the gazebo beautifully decorated just for them. As soon as she stepped inside, John got down on one knee and popped the question. After joyfully accepting, the newly engaged couple headed to the home of Emily's parents, where all their loved ones awaited to celebrate the happy news.

On April 29, 2023, Emily and John made it official with a traditional church wedding and ballroom reception at the Omni Houston Hotel. The hotel dazzled with twinkling lights, colorful blooms and greenery, embracing a springtime garden theme. Brit Floyd Weddings expertly captured photos of the couple dancing under canopy lights. The couple cut into a four-tier cake by Cakes by Gina, embellished with flowers, before dancing the night away with their loved ones. As Emily fondly recalled, "Getting all our favorite people in one room to celebrate our marriage with us" was the best part of their special day.

Jenny and Cameron's college love story began on a lively St. Paddy's Day at LSU. Drawn together as fellow Houstonians, the two became fast friends, frequently hunkering down in the library to study. After working up the courage, Cameron finally asked Jenny on a proper date. The bride says, "We went for margaritas and queso and just knew this was meant to be."

The couple later lived near beloved Eleanor Tinsley Park, where they often walked their dog. Cameron planned a sweet surprise picnic proposal there. After a giddy Champagne toast, they shared the joyous news with both families. Thoughtful Cameron also took Jenny to visit her late father's grave.

On December 31, 2022, the lovebirds wed at Jenny's childhood church. Cameron eagerly rushed to greet his bride halfway down the aisle before exchanging heartfelt vows. Their New Year’s Eve wedding date was a nod to their first spontaneous Las Vegas trip years before.

The glam ballroom reception at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa boasted blooms in rich tones of burgundy, magenta and pink by Plants N' Petals. Festive floral arrangements lined the tables, including a replica of their pup. A breathtaking display of white flowers and baby's breath hung above the black and white checkered dance floor. Bering's sophisticated stationery tied everything together seamlessly. At midnight, the dance floor filled with confetti to ring in the New Year and the union of Jenny and Cameron.

Samreen and Ahmed met by chance at an airport in 2021. They were both headed to the same faraway place, even though they came from different worlds. Samreen was a city girl from Houston, and Ahmed was a small-town guy from Massachusetts. After hitting it off in the airport, the couple's love story continued, leading to their fun New York City engagement session and gorgeous coastal wedding.

On April 30, 2023, the couple wed at Galveston's storied Grand Galvez. With the Gulf as their backdrop, Samreen and Ahmed exchanged vows al fresco on the hotel's Centennial Green. Pastel hues brought soft and dreamy beauty to the coastal setting. The bride says, "Our wedding day was an absolute fairytale. The pastels and scenery were my ethereal floral dreams." Adding a playful twist, the couple's ring bearer rode down the mirrored aisle in a stylish mini Mercedes.

After becoming husband and wife, the newlyweds dined in the historic Music Hall before dancing the night away. Details like their custom dance floor, audio guestbook, coffee and boba bar and photo booth amplified the romance. The bride says, "It truly was a wedding day bliss." Guests sent the couple off with bubbles and a Ferrari exit.

Emily and Brian found love on Bumble. They had instant chemistry during a flurry of messages and calls, which led to their first date at an Irish pub in New York City. The groom says, "As cliché as it sounds, we had our first kiss in the pouring rain in the middle of Times Square.”

After four blissful years together, Brian planned a private Christmas morning proposal amidst the pandemic. The bride says, “It ended up being quite romantic to have an intimate holiday with just the two of us." That Christmas morning brought the ultimate gifts: a dazzling engagement ring and a bottle of Champagne to toast to their future as fiancés.

On April 9, 2022, the lovebirds exchanged vows nestled within the stone courtyard at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, surrounded by an elegant palette of white and sage. During their dreamy, tented reception, hues of peach and orange brought fun pops of color to the idyllic Hill Country setting.

The couple felt their beloved pups' presence through creative décor details, like the seating chart and signature cocktails. Avery and Michael first met in 2020 at a bar in the Heights when they were both out for a fun night with friends. They spent the evening laughing, singing karaoke and getting to know one another. Before the night ended, they shared a magical first kiss. Michael texted Avery that same night, saying, "Please kiss me again…forever."

On March 25, 2023, Avery and Michael exchanged vows during a sun-drenched al fresco ceremony expertly captured by Amy Maddox Photography. Their ceremony was decorated in lush greenery and vibrant, spring-colored florals. A live painter from Rendered Moments captured their romantic "I do’s" on canvas. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a festive cocktail hour with adorable beer burros and sips.

The celebration continued in a rustic chic lodge decorated with mix-matched floral centerpieces and pops of blue. A highlight from their wedding day? "Dancing to ‘My Girl’ in front of a crowd," the bride says. After the lively celebration, a streamer send-off provided the perfect, festive ending to Avery and Michael's dream wedding.

Eric and Stephanie were set up “old school style” by a mutual friend in California. The bride says, “I told her to give him my phone number...rest is history!”

Though the two were initially in a long-distance relationship, video chat date nights kept the romance flowing. After much virtual bonding, Eric visited Houston for the couple's first date.

Later, the groom orchestrated a romantic proposal on a remote beach when planning a getaway to Mexico. Under a starlit sky, Stephanie said “yes.”

On November 11, 2023, the pair wed at Le Méridien Houston Downtown under a chuppah decorated with white blooming florals and lush greenery. After a rooftop cocktail hour, the celebration continued with an elegant ballroom reception decorated with candlelight and black, white and gold décor. The couple cut a classic cake before the bride’s daughter, Annie, gave a touching speech while Rissa Reels captured all the sweet moments.

A highlight of the evening? The groom surprised the bride and guests by playing the sax with Danny Ray and the Atlantic Street Band. The couple and their guests spent the rest of the evening dancing the night away. After the whirlwind of celebrations, the newlyweds embarked on a road trip along the scenic Central Coast of California for an unforgettable honeymoon.

Renee and JJ first connected on Bumble during the peak of COVID. Sparks immediately flew when Renee invited JJ over for movies and margaritas. A few months later, in June 2020, while visiting JJ in Lubbock, he asked Renee to be his girlfriend during a romantic walk through the park.

When it came time to pop the question, JJ wanted to make it meaningful. He took Renee back to the same park where they became official. While taking couple portraits, JJ got down on one knee and asked Renee to marry him. After Renee said “yes,” the two celebrated over steak and Champagne with their families.

On April 22, 2023, Renee and JJ said "I do" with a traditional church ceremony. A special moment from their wedding ceremony was walking back down the aisle as newlyweds and "seeing the entire crowd being so utterly happy and excited for us as we embark on this journey," the bride says.

After exchanging vows, the celebration continued in the Omni Houston Hotel's grand ballroom. Plants N' Petals adorned the space with blooming pink and white florals that covered the reception tables and dripped from the crystal chandeliers, perfectly tying in the couple's color scheme of pink and navy. As the night went on, Renee and JJ danced with family and friends to live music, capping off their dream wedding.

Fate united theater lovers Mindy and Nico in their undergraduate years, and their friendship deepened to love. After an eager anticipated Renaissance Faire date, the couple wasted no time embracing their love story.

Nico popped the question with a sweet and simple proposal in the living room of the couple's first apartment. Mindy agreed on one condition: "I'll say yes if we can get three cats and a dog," the bride replied.

Before the couple's wedding ceremony, Mindy and Nico honored Vietnamese traditions with an intimate tea ceremony at Mindy's family home. "Starting with this ceremony helped to ground the day in true celebration, with deep ties to the roots of both families," the bride says.

On December 30, 2022, the couple pledged their love amid an enchanted forest brought to life with lush greenery, white florals and earth-toned hues. Mindy glided down the aisle in a romantic Pronovias gown to meet her groom.

After the couple's nuptials, guests traveled to The Astorian to raise a glass with the newlyweds at a Broadway-styled reception. Dramatic blooms, floralinfused candelabras and black and gold accents embellished the NYC-inspired reception space. Susie's Cakes designed a five-tier confection adorned in handpainted florals, perfectly tying in this bloom-filled affair.

Rachel and Justin's love story began with a chance encounter on a dating app. The couple’s first date in November, 2020 sparked an instant connection. Rachel says, "We were inseparable ever since, and we both knew we found our person."

From the start, Rachel and Justin often talked about their future together, eager to begin their lives as a married couple. In March 2022, Justin orchestrated the perfect proposal atop the Ferris wheel at the Houston Rodeo.

"It's a total blur, but it was also total bliss," the bride says. After their magical ride, friends and family waited below to greet the two with a confetti celebration.

On March 4, 2023, Rachel and Justin exchanged vows at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa. The bride was glowing in a Rita Vinieris gown for the intimate, sun-kissed al fresco ceremony overlooking the Colorado River.

The luxurious venue’s elegant ballroom provided the ideal backdrop for Rachel and Justin's sophisticated ballroom reception. Blooming white florals and glowing candles decorated the reception tables, while light blue, white and black décor dotted the event space. "My absolute favorite part of the night was our private last dance before we departed, to ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ by Frank Sinatra," the bride says. The newlyweds concluded the magical evening with a festive bubble send-off.

Mia and Braden became best friends during their sophomore year of high school and were together practically daily. Their college apartments while attending Texas A&M were five doors apart. But at a date party, Braden confessed to a shocked Mia that he had feelings for her - which was a relief to Mia as she had the same feelings! Neither had wanted to ruin a great friendship.

Braden was adamant that the relationship would work out. “We started dating sophomore year of college, and he was right, everything worked out and my best friend turned into the greatest relationship of my life!” Mia said.

On a celebratory graduation trip to Cancún, Braden planned a dinner on the beach in a private cabana. When the hired photographer appeared early, Braden had to go rogue. “He told me that the cabana came with complimentary couples photos and that we should take a few. As we were standing there taking photos, he got down on one knee and proposed.”

The couple returned home to a fabulous party thrown by their parents and closest friends.

A black-and-white themed wedding took place in May at The Bell Tower on 34th.

The couple’s favorite part of the day was the reception. “We wanted an all-night dance party and we got that. Between the DJ playlist and the 360 photo booth, our guests were never sitting down!” the bride said. The night finished with a party bus trip to Pete’s Piano Bar to keep the party going!

Juliana and Wadie's lifelong bond began when they met at church camp. Although they had known each other since they were 9 years old, these childhood friends didn't start dating until 2019. They maintained a long-distance relationship between California and Houston.

While walking on a chilly March day, Wadie popped the question to Juliana. After a romantic lunch, they returned home to find their families, who surprised them with a celebration.

On September 23, 2023, Juliana walked down the aisle in a dazzling ball gown, passing white blooms dotting each pew. The couple exchanged vows during a traditional church service.

Their glam reception at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston featured a color scheme of blush, gold and white. Sophisticated stationery by Bering's set the tone while The Events Company created a romantic vibe. Bountiful floral centerpieces with hints of glitz adorned the reception tables, tying the whole look together beautifully.

The festivities continued when the lifelong friends used a sword to cut into their breathtaking 8-tier cake, adorned with florals, by Cakes by Gina. Sparklers were lit behind Juliana and Wadie as they shared a romantic dance, creating a fairytale moment for the newlyweds.

"We met in the only way modern-day romances start these days...Hinge," the bride says. She and Michael instantly clicked over video chat at the start of quarantine in March, 2020. "We spent the next year truly getting to spend time getting to know each other without any distractions of the outside world," the bride says.

For their anniversary, Michael surprised Lauren by proposing at a bar with their song playing. The bride says, "Little did I know, Michael had been planning our engagement for over five months and had planned a surprise engagement party with 100 of our closest friends and family members."

On July 1, 2023, the couple wed at St. George's Orthodox Church, followed by a reception in a glam white and champagne ballroom. On their wedding day, Michael surprised Lauren with an adorable gift: a mini golden doodle puppy named Gelato! For the ceremony, Lauren dazzled in a tulle wedding gown and sparkling diamonds. In a touching tribute, Michael wore his late grandfather's wedding band, restored and engraved by Zadok Jewelers.

Danny Ray and the Atlantic Street Band had the crowd on the dance floor at the lively reception. A decadent sixtier cake by Susie's Cakes wowed guests as they danced the night away.

The next day, the group enjoyed a farewell Fiesta brunch before jetting off to a "buddy moon" in Mexico with friends.

Samantha and Dharmesh met at the groom’s makeup store in 2014 and became co-workers in 2016. They fell in love in 2018, and, according to the bride, have been inseparable ever since. She considers them “artists and entrepreneurs enjoying life together as soul mates.”

During a surprise trip to Colorado planned by Dharm, he proposed to Sam. High in the mountains, cliffside, he popped the question. A hidden photographer captured the big moment from behind the trees. "It was a thoughtful, beautiful and unforgettable proposal," says Sam.

The wedding festivities were a fusion of cultures held at a destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Their two outdoor ceremonies - one Hindu ceremony and one traditional Christian ceremony - had a tropical color theme.

According to Sam, the whole day was perfect. “Every single moment was special; I wish we could do it all over again!” says the bride.

Sydney and Ross first crossed paths as undergrads at Texas Tech University. After graduating, Sydney moved to Nashville, while Ross relocated to Houston. When Sydney moved back to the Bayou City, Ross saw it as the perfect chance to catch up over dinner. Sparks flew, and the two had been inseparable ever since.

In June 2022, Ross surprised Sydney with a trip to her favorite place, Cozumel, Mexico. On their first evening in paradise, Ross took Sydney to her favorite beachside restaurant, where he got down on one knee at sunset. The newly engaged couple celebrated late into the evening with tasteful bites and Champagne.

On April 22, 2023, Sydney and Ross had a traditional church ceremony surrounded by friends and family. Following the ceremony, the celebration continued at The Tremont House, nestled in Galveston's Historic Strand District. The couple embraced a light and airy elegance, decorating the ballroom with blush, light blue and green floral centerpieces. Their color palette extended through the details, from the tablescapes to the wedding party attire. The couple danced the night away with their loved ones before exiting with a streamer exit.
