Why do you show so much décor in your magazine? We feel very strongly that our

readers want to see tabletops, ceremony sites, lounges and after-party ideas and it is I’ll never forget the day that Grace told me that the magazine was going national. Now 18 issues and 10 years later, I feel like she is such an innovator always envisioning what to do next to keep our reader engaged. Her latest vision—this very issue— is just another way that she is setting the trends and showing everyone that she still has another trick or two up her sleeve. Why did you decide to launch a digital edition of your magazine? Even though we have distribution in several countries abroad, we have such a large following worldwide (from Europe to Brazil, Dubai, Canada and so forth) that I wanted to cre-

ate something that anyone can access anywhere in the world at any time they want on their computer or e-reader. When you are deciding on content for each issue what serves as your inspiration? I am always inspired when I travel, whether it is places that I have been to once or frequented over the years. I am also

inspired by places that I have never been to and that intrigue me like the fashion designer hotel feature

we are running in this issue. I hope they inspire you too.

my job to make it easy for them to access what they want and to

inspire them. What is your favorite destination? Now there’s

a problem. That’s like asking me: what is your favorite shoe? Just like shoes, I have

so many favorites—and there are still so many places that I want to visit—that it’s too hard to choose. Try asking me again in a year.

You consistently pick stories of love for your feature weddings. What kinds of stories did you pick this time for the digital issue? In this issue

we featured seven weddings around the world: Lake Como, Miami, Aspen,

Los Angeles, Beirut and New York. I selected imagery shot by pho-

Moehlman and Christopher Melling had crossed paths many times before they began dating at the end of 2009. They shared a circle of friends that kept ...

... insisting they were made for each other. It turns out, their friends were right. Chris proposed in January of 2011 aided by a scrapbook filled with the reasons why he loved Melisa and a diamond ring tucked into one of the pages. Intrigued by the idea of an overseas destination wedding, the couple was elated when they secured an historic Italian setting, Villa del Balbianello, for their September wedding. “We loved the idea of a celebration with a

timeless, Old World feel,” Melisa admits. “Because the venue was so beautiful, we kept everything very elegant and simple.” They recited their vows under a romantic ivy-covered loggia overlooking Lake Como.

Cocktails were served in the garden and a candlelit dinner for 100 followed. “I would not have changed a thing,” the bride reflects. “It was a wonderful time to spend with our family and friends, and the perfect beginning to our lives together.” The newlyweds spent the next two weeks in Africa on safari and exploring the beauty of the Seychelle Islands. > Written by Dina M. handsome guy? I’ve never seen him in Belgium,” Ilya Prigogine recalls inquiring. Moments later, David Dzialowski introduced himself, stunned that they had never met before.

The party was for David’s friend, whose sister Ilya knew well. Ilya’s uncle was David’s doctor. They had more than shared connections, though, and within two months, their jetsetting lives were entwined. On their second anniversary, while dining fireside on a Vietnam beach, David proposed

unexpectedly. “I said ‘Yes,’ and then called everybody, all around the world,” Ilya says. Musicians and their photographer journeyed from Israel, drummers from Africa, a videographer from France, DJs from Las Vegas, a designer from Belgium, and 160 guests from

far-flung locales all over the world. The destination: Miami because its flora and climate is reminiscent of Ilya’s childhood in Congo. Nicole Braghin orchestrated. It was “amazing how she understood,” Ilya says.

Five days of distinctive celebrations crescendoed to their emotional vows on the Mandarin Oriental Miami’s beach. “At the last minute, we bought 160 umbrellas,” says David, but skies cleared. Things reliably work out; they cherish each other’s optimism.

... “our sisters would tease us that they would love for us to get married one day so they could be sisters,” says Ginger. After 13 years together, their wish came true and the couple decided to tie the knot. Ernest proposed on Ginger’s birthday stringing the ring around their dog Lyndon’s neck with a sign saying: “Will You Marry Me?” Afterwards they celebrated with a crawfish boil at Texas’ Lake Casa Blanca park surrounded by their family and friends.

The June wedding was full of energy and fresh snow at Aspen’s Little Nell. Bearing the cold weather, Ginger walked down the aisle to The Rolling Stone’s “Wild Horses.” “We both love music,” Ginger explains. For the reception, guests made their way to the top of Aspen Mountain via a gondola. A champagne fountain and French 75 cocktails flowed all night, while guests danced to

big-band style music. At 1 a.m., the band transformed into a New Orleans style marching band and followed everyone out. He became her first boyfriend, and although they attended college on opposite coasts, they made it work. For years they flew back and forth as she finished dental school and he got his law degree. On the night of a big family Hanukkah party he picked her up with a large gift box in hand. As she unwrapped layer after layer of

tissue paper and boxes, Monique kept repeating how badly she felt about not having a present for him yet. Then she finally opened the ring. Erik was ready with a sweet reply: “The biggest gift you can give me today is to say that you’ll be my wife.” The wedding for 360 people, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, had a 20-person orchestra playing for the ceremony, a 12-person band for the cocktail hour, and a stage full of musicians for the reception. The beautiful venue glittered with

the light of hundreds of candles as guests danced and celebrated the happy couple. “I had dreams of what I wanted for my wedding and this was everything I dreamt and more,” says Monique. Afterwards they headed to the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora where relaxation was inter-

Mohamad Al Sawan, spotted Karen at a local lounge and abandoned his friends. “He asked so many questions that night,” says Karen, who jokes that she passed his test. Three years later, Moe accompanied Karen to Dubai for work, booking the presidential suite at The Ritz-Carlton. On their last day, she was eager to go shopping, while he

wanted to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. As she hurried to get dressed, he nervously gave her a hug while fumbling the ring box. “When it was finally open, I was so confused,” says Karen. Then he went down on one knee and proposed, and she said, “Yes.” The traditional formal Muslim wedding ceremony was followed by a reception under the stars. With fireworks overhead, Karen felt as if she was floating in the skies. A cool vibe was created with polished ice bars, ice angels, blue lighting, crystal tables and white furniture. “Mohamad and I never wanted the night to end,” says Karen. ... her party complimentary food and drinks, prompted her to say, “If you ever come my way, let me take you out.” A smitten Michael flew westward the very next weekend saying that he was in Las Vegas on business. “We got along great and laughed the entire time,” says Michelle, who agreed to be flown back to Long Island the following weekend.

The commuter romance continued until the night Michael took Michelle up in a helicopter and proposed over strawberries and champagne, while hovering above the Vegas strip. Michelle spent months looking for a unique, private venue and discovered the “picture perfect” Oheka Castle. “It was my castle for a night, and I utilized every space they had,”

she says. The couple’s monogram appeared on floors, walls, champagne glasses and candy jars, while regal white orchid arrangements adorned the tables. “It was exceptional when I walked into the ballroom and saw my vision brought to life,” says Michelle.

one of the city’s most famous squares. The driver explained that couples who kiss under the gazebo are promised a lifetime of love and happiness together. Danny decided to give it a try, and as they reached the spot he went down on one knee saying, “Will you marry me?” A shocked moment of silence preceded Carolina’s excited, “Yes, yes!” The ceremony at the parish where both families attend mass was very meaningful, and yet Carolina remembers being so entranced

that they were giddy. “We only had eyes for one another,” she says. For the reception at the Mandarin Oriental Miami, Carolina chose a white and green color palette with blush lighting. “The ambiance was ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’” she says. “Lightweight, airy and romantic.” Out on the dance floor, the couple sang to

each other and Danny mimed the words to their song. “The night was so full of love it was wonderful,” says Carolina. An extended honeymoon took them to the Dominican Republic, New Zealand and Fiji,
