KOKOMO - Start your Christmas getaway with a visit to Kokomo. Experience Christmas at the Seiberling, drive through the City of Lights in Highland Park and be sure to get tickets to see “ A Christmas Carol” at the Children’s Theatre.

There isn’t a more elegant place to celebrate the season than the Seiberling Mansion, and its holiday celebration continues through Dec. 31, 2023. The Victorian elegance of the Seiberling Mansion is a perfect setting for its stunning collection of beautifully decorated trees, wreaths and garlands and thousands of Christmas lightsboth inside and out.

The Seiberling Mansion is home to the Howard County Museum. Open Tuesday-Sunday 1-4 p.m. Also open select evenings from 4-8 p.m. on Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15. Candlelight Tours will be offered on Dec. 16. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for K-12 students and children under age 5 are free. There are several places around the Kokomo area to see Christmas lights.Start with the City of Lights drive through where you will find more than 50 light displays through the park. Open nightly at dusk until Dec. 24. Santa will be present from 6-10 p.m. to greet visitors.

Next head to Christmas Lights of Greentown at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Stop in the Round Barn to see the Christmas Village and enjoy hot chocolate. Open at 6 p.m. Dec. 1-3, 7-10 and 14-25. You may even see a glimpse of Santa if you look hard enough.

Take a short drive north of Kokomo to see the Lights in the Airpark display at the Grissom Air Museum, including multiple lighted displays near the aircraft. Gates open at 4:30 and close at 9:00 p.m. Admission $9 adults, $8 children ages 6-11, and free for children ages 5 & under. Open through Dec. 31.

Curtain Call Children’s Theatre presents Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” Dec. 7-10 starting at 7 p.m. (2 p.m. matinee Sunday). Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

Other performances include the IU Kokomo Cougar choir presenting a winter concert at Havens Auditorium featuring classics and Victorian carols. Sounds of the Season starts at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and 3 p.m. Dec. 10 with the theme “A Victorian Holiday.

The Kokomo Symphony Orchestra will feature a stunning array of Christmas and winter holiday favorites Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church. Enjoy an evening of heartwarming melodies and holiday cheer!
