Performing Arts At The Capital Theatre

Serving guests who visit Chambersburg, Hagerstown, Martinsburg, Franklin County and South Central Pennsylvania Capitol Theater Center in Chambersburg is the choice destination for topnotch performing arts entertainment.

The Capitol Theatre Center has been a beacon for the Arts in Franklin County since 1927. For the last near century, this storied venue has seen generations make memories around the creativity and vitality that our community has to offer. There are currently three different production partner organizations that provide quality performances for the theatre’s audience: Chambersburg Community Theatre, The Chambersburg Ballet and Comedy & Magic Spectacular.

The Chambersburg Community Theatre is a company which has conducted business, rehearsals, and performed shows since 1954. A small group of aspiring actors met in the home of one of the actresses and formed by opening a one-show season, producing “The Male Animal.”

Growing and five stage moves later, they made Capitol Theatre their home and have been there for the past 30 years.

The Chambersburg Ballet, under the direction of Artistic Director Brian Grant, has a mission to provide true classical ballet instruction and performance art in Franklin County. They provide the best possible education in ballet and associated disciplines to students age 3 and up, with individualized instruction.

Upcoming performances on the roster at this time include the 35th annual Comedy and Magic Spectacular on April 27, which is a popular fundraising event that supports vital community needs. It is made possible by the efforts of the Chambersburg Exchange Club.
