It’s time to bring some warmth and cosy vibes to your home. If you have a lot of hard surfaces in your living areas such as tiles, granite, polished concrete and white walls, this can make a room feel cold and uninviting. There are things you can do to make these areas of your home feel inviting and cosy.
Layering Next add cushions to create layering and luxury. You can never have too many cushions (says us!). Use different patterns and colours or solid colours if you’re going for a tonal look. Adding fabric such as velvet to your cushions or even the sofa itself will add sophistication and warmth to the room. Don’t forget to add a throw or two to help achieve this look.
Wall colour The trend at the moment is white or soft grey walls. These colours make a room seem fresh but if it is a very large space, can also make it feel uninviting and cold. Choose a dark colour for a feature wall(s) or perhaps a wallpaper. This will make it feel less stark.
Ottoman Instead of a solid coffee table add an oversized ottoman. This is great for when you have guests over as extra seating or for the kids to jump and lie on when they’re watching TV. This will also avoid a cluttered coffee table! The ottoman doesn’t necessarily have to match the fabric on the sofa.
Rugs A rug on a hard floor is definitely the easiest way to make the space feel cosier, especially in a living room. To give it a more luxurious feel, choose a rug with a long pile and a colour to suit the palette you have chosen. Rugs will also help
reduce the noise level in a large room. Furniture When choosing furniture and other decorative items, natural wood is a good choice to bring in warmth. This helps to bring part
of the outside in as well as being a timeless material. Add some greenery to enhance this. When arranging furniture in a living room, rather than have sofas and sofa chairs placed around the walls, arrange them so they are facing each other. This will be a

Shopping online can save you time and money but take extra care before making any purchase, especially with delivery times. If you can, try to use debit instead of credit for your purchases. A Christmas credit card hangover is definitely something to avoid as you head into a new year. And if you are hosting Christmas lunch this year, don’t be shy to ask your guests to help share the load by bringing drink, salads or deserts.
