A REAL COMMUNITY When the first food truck rolled into The Gables on Friday, December 7 to launch the new Village Good Vibes initiative, residents and the surrounding community had no idea of the culinary treats in store for them that night – and every Friday until the end of summer. With 200 homes now occupied in Celestino’s 830-hectare masterplanned community, and more residents moving in every month, it’s perfect timing for an easy, alfresco Friday night dinner. The first food truck, ‘Rolling Schnitzel’, kept hungry families satisfied with well over 100 orders in the first two hours of operation. Residents raved about having access to exciting food options for the whole family on their doorstep with local mum of two, Louise Charlotte Griffiths posting on Facebook that the first truck was a “win”. “Kids loved it! I got to escape cooking and they crashed from running around the park! Winning!” she said. The Friday night schedule so far has included the Hungry Italianis, Frank’s Original Philly Cheeses-
teak, Bellissima Woodfired Pizza and Fikoz Gozleme at Slidey Park, one of the three playgrounds already finished in the community (with five more to come). Cosmic Cuisine will lead The Gables into the Australia Day long weekend with its “out of this world” creations on Friday, January 25. With food trucks an increasingly popular sight around Sydney, Village Good Vibes is the only place in the Hills District where you can regularly sample a range of quality, freshly cooked food from this new breed of mobile eateries. Celestino Development Director Matthew Scard said the food trucks are a great way for residents to meet their neighbours. “The Gables is about much more than just bricks, mortar and land. It already has a real community feel and our calendar of events will continue to help build its vibrancy and the connections between neighbours,” he said. “As well as attending events, we also encourage all new residents to book in a welcome visit with our Community Facilitator to find
