Why did you become a real estate agent?
I think it is more that our Principal Phil Haley chose me, I was working at Australia Post and he was so impressed with my service that he asked me to give him a call if I have decided to change career, it took him two years to convince me to accept the job but he said it was worth the wait.
Tell us about the first house you sold? My first and the most memorable sale, was with a 92-year-old lady who was referred by my friends from the church. My vendor speaks limited English so she would like to work with someone she can really trust. The property was a 1-bedroom apartment in Kingswood and it was sold for favourable price that enabled her to secure a retirement home. I have helped her as well to sell her furniture and other stuff online and helped in any way I can possibly do which made me realised that being a real estate agent is not just selling a property, it is more than that, it is really helping and caring people especially the elderly. The last time we spoke she said she will miss me. So, I went and visited her in the Nursing Home and left her an orchid.
What do you love most about being an agent?
Knowing that I have been able to help my clients achieved their goals and dreams in this property market and I have been part of their journey. Also, my genuine care for my clients has helped me achieved consistent awards not only Locally and Nationally but also Internationally.

BROKERS BENEFIT AS BANKS TURN THEIR BACKS
In this era of rising interest rates and banks retreating from direct customer engagement by continuing to close branches around the country, consumer reliance on finance brokers keeps growing.
The latest data compiled for the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) shows for the first time mortgage brokers facilitated more than 70 per cent of all new residential home loans.
The findings by research group Comparator, showed brokers facilitated 71.7 per cent of all new residential home loans between July and September 2022.
Comparator compiles quarterly broker statistics for the MFAA by calculating the value of loans settled by 18 of the leading brokers and aggregators as a percentage of ABS housing finance commit ments. The latest
percentage point increase compared to the 66.9 per cent achieved in the same quarter in 2021, and an 11.6 percentage point increase on the 60.1 per cent recorded in the September 2020 quarter.
MFAA chief executive, Anja Pannek said: “Buying a home is often one of the most impor tant financial decisions many Australians will make in their life.
The fact we now have seven out of 10 borrowers choosing to use the experience and services of a mortgage broker to help them navigate their finance options is a testament to the trust and confidence that Australian home buyers have in mortgage brokers. This result is also against the implementation of a number of reforms over the past five years, including the unrivalled Best Interest Duty (BID), that serves to continue to engender trust and confidence in the channel.”
In the current rising interest rate environment, and with many borrowers reverting from fixed to variable rates in 2023, brokers are well placed to help clients understand their options and select the product best suited to them. Brokers can help borrowers obtain a more competitive interest rate with their current lender or refinance to a different product in their best interests.
I strongly believe the finance broking sector has benefited from banks turning their backs on personal service in recent years.
