As Coronavirus restrictions ease around the country, particularly with Victoria having overcome its second wave of COVID-19, we are seeing some welcome green shoots for the national economy such as a rebound in new vehicle sales. Stimulus programs such as the instant asset write- off measure in the Federal Budget triggered a sharp acceleration in the sale of utes to tradespeople. Official figures from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) showed total new vehicle sales climbed to 81,220 in October, just 1.5 per cent lower than the same month a year ago prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
