COVID-19 – LET’S BE SENSIBLE It is not my intention to discuss what has been said already in just about every news commentary regarding what I believe most logical thinkers would accept as common sense. Why is it that now we should wash our hands. We should always have been doing this. I believe we in Australia are in a unique position and yes we had to protect ourselves and yes again most of the people that have contracted this virus have come from overseas. Australia is an island. We have closed our doors. I expect that this virus will be under control and off the front pages within 3-4 months but I also expect it to be sooner. More and more people are going to see Australia as a safe place with leaders that take bold steps which thankfully have been supported by Anthony Albanese. Life is going on and will continue to go on. The media should stop promoting bad results but of course they do this so they can keep selling fear. This way they still have a job! They hate good news unless it is about one person now and again because good news does not sell. I am grateful for being kept up to date occasionally
and maybe a bulletin on all stations at 6pm would be enough but of course this means they have to find other stuff to talk about. All we need to do is be sensible. Yes the economy will be affected but this has happened before. Yes, some people will pass away but then I am probably at more risk than most as I am 76 and have a few niggles that do not help, so I take care of myself by avoiding opportunities to engage with too many people. We will do less open homes and revert to good old fashioned individual inspections of properties with buyers. We will be asking questions of course about recent travel, how do you feel etc. but we will still be providing excellent service. Prospective buyers should not talk too much in any home, they should not touch surfaces and they should carry masks or hankies to hold over their nose and mouth while they are in other people’s homes. This is logical and common sense, not rocket science. Take care of yourselves and let’s get this damn virus out of our lives sooner than most of the media would like us to. – Phil 0412 355 020

The Coronavirus (COVID - 19) pandemic is a once in a 100-year health crisis which has already smashed the Australian and global economies and changing life as we know it. The Reserve Bank of Australia has cut official interest rates to an all-time low of 0.25 per cent in an emergency response to the crisis and offered a $90 billion lending facility to banks for small business. The RBA also announced quantitative easing measures, including the purchase of government bonds. The RBA and governments are working to keep as many Australians as possible employed with the Federal Government looking to implement significant stimulus measures.
Banks are offering a six- month deferral on business and home loan repayments. We are encouraging clients to make it a priority to approach their bank if they are in need of hardship assistance. We find that doing the essential work things such as emails, phone calls and dealing with anything urgent is best done first thing in your working day. If we start our day with other tasks that take you away from your workspace, you tend to continue to find other things that you could do or errands you can run and by the time you realise it, four to five hours have gone by and you still have to deal with everything else when you get back to your desk. Make sure your chair is ergonomic and supports you properly. If you are new to working from home you may not already have an appropriate chair. Trust me your back will thank you! Also let your family and friends know that you are working from home so that they apply the same level of contact on the phone as if you were in a office and you are not constantly being interrupted! Some people will struggle with working from home for different reasons. One of the most common reasons will be isolation. If you do struggle with this try having a video chat with a work colleague at least once a day.
