Nindi Crescent playspace in Glenmore Park has received an exciting upgrade with a “Going on a Bear Hunt” themed transforma tion.
The new playspace design was developed in close consultation with the local community and includes hidden bears throughout the reserve for children to find, climbing equipment, swings, a slide, and an accessible multi-play unit.
The upgrade marks the halfway point of Council’s commitment to upgrade 40 playspaces over a fiveyear period between 2019-2024, with 20 playspaces now renewed across the Local Government Area.
Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen (pictured with Mulgoa MP Tanya Davies) said it was heart-warming to see local families and children enjoying the improved play spaces.
“It is important to have safe, modern and inclusive recreation spaces across our City which give young people and families the opportunity to get outside, connect and have fun,” Cr Hitchen said.

Additional features of the upgrade include seating, land scaping, and a new pathway to allow for better access to the playspace. A shade sail will also be installed as part of a Council program to improve shade facil ities at 90 playspaces, which is a key component of the Cooling the City Strategy.

With the United States Federal Reserve this month raising interest rates by a whopping 0.75 percentage points for the third successive time in its bid to curb soaring inflation, the question now is whether Australia’s central bank will continue to deliver more bad news for borrowers when it meets next week.
After four consecutive 50 basis point rises in official interest rates, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has been tipped to reduce the dose of bad medicine by limit ing its October cash rate increase to 25 basis points on Tuesday.
Since May this year, the RBA has taken its cash rate from the record low of 0.10 per cent to 2.35 per cent. Another quarter of a percentage
point rise would elevate official rates to 2.6 per cent, which would be its highest level in nine years.
The latest rate rise in the US has pushed their benchmark interest rate to a target range of 3.0 to 3.25 per cent, their highest point since 2008 and up from near zero at the start of this year. Inflation is much more rampant there than it is in Australia, but the decisions of the ‘Fed’ still weigh heavily on the RBA.
There have been indications the RBA’s rate rises have impacted mortgage holders, although strong retail and business confi dence numbers highlight that it hasn’t hit the spending patterns of those without a mortgage.

Lowe apparently not wanting to go too hard on interest rate rises for fear of driving the economy into recession, some economic commentators believe the RBA’s tightening of monetary policy is into the home stretch and we won’t see rates rise much more. The heavy lifting has been done, and this is supported by the longer-term bond prices.
But there are still many variables such as the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Locally the impact of the ending of the 22 cent a litre discount at the fuel bowser is yet to be felt. As for the property market, it appears we aren’t yet at the bottom of the current cycle, with the next six months to give a better indication.
