I need to share with you that at this point in time, I am more invigorated about running my business than I have been for a long time. Recently, one of my team Victor created an opportunity that will allow me to expand my business significantly and as most people know, I started this business with the intention of passing it on to the team that helped me build it. I selected people that were already clients of mine as I wanted to work with people who I knew would, A, work hard until I trained them to add some smartness to their armoury; B, they liked people; and C, they understood the ethics of this business. As an educator in TAFE for a few years and in all of the workshops I have conducted for other agents and myself over the years, I emphasise that the reason anyone should be in this business is because they accept that they can change peoples lives either with a great home that suits the client’s needs and desires and also with investors, to get them out from under the taking of handouts from Centrelink in retirement. I am one a many children born to Tom and Lucy Haley and I heard in my adult years (25 or so), that everyone in the village said that we had less than nothing. When I was 12 I spoke to my good friend, the man in the moon and made two commitments to him. First of these was to have only 2 children. I was about number 14 so I am glad Mom and Dad kept going. Choosing the right sofa... sounds easy right? Well it may be for some but for others it’s not so simple and too many people make the wrong choice. There are many things to consider before making the purchase. There is also a big variation in prices of sofas but with so many to pick from it pays to shop around. Firstly consider the space and measure the area you want the sofa to sit in. When you’re space 30 Western Property Magazine

planning you need to think about how much space you want to give to a sofa. You need to think about the flow around the sofa and the position – will it face a TV or fireplace? We’ve seen too many oversized corner lounges placed in rooms where the sofa consumes the whole space. This can make the room feel closed in. You also need to consider how many people you need to seat. You don’t want anyone missing

out when the family cosy up for movie night! You need to try before you buy. We wouldn’t recommend buying online for this reason. The firmness or softness of a sofa is probably one of the most important considerations and a personal preference. If you are considering a sofa with headrests and/or recliners, you need to think about the extra space you will need for this also.

High back sofas in a small space can also consume the room too much. Fabric or leather? Again a personal preference. Leather will aways wear better and it’s easier to clean (good for sticky little fingers!). If you do go with fabric, consider spending the extra money to have the fabric protection applied.
