TIDY TECHS NEEDED YOUR CHANCE TO WORK FOR IKEA IKEA Australia has released job advertisements throughout the country, looking to hire 10 Regional Städad (Tidy) Technicians to help organise houses throughout Australia. The newly created, temporary roles are looking for experts in home organisation that understand how a tidy home can create happiness and want to take their decluttering credentials to the next level with the help of IKEA. Successful applicants will have a flair for decluttering, an eye for organisation and a desire to tidy. Recruits will be put through IKEA Tidy Training, where they will become immersed in the tools, strategies and solutions IKEA has on offer to amplify organisational skills in order to create order and calm for many people. “We’re so excited to be able to offer this role that will further assist IKEA in its mission to create a better life for the many people. In this case, bringing gladness to homes via organisation and decluttering,” said Kent Eriksson, People and Culture Manager for IKEA Australia.

As we enter a new decade, it seems the only certainty about the Australian economy during 2020 will be continuing uncertainty. Despite record low interest rates, consumer confidence remains subdued with so much negative sentiment about the economy. This hasn’t been helped by the terrible bushfires nationwide recently. During the Christmas and New Year period, a string of bricks and mortar retailers have closed or gone into voluntary administration. I was fortunate to spend part of my break in the US ski resort town of Aspen. The week after US schools return, the village
is usually referred to as ‘Little Australia’ by the locals – due to the large number of Australian visitors. But this year people were asking “where is everyone?” The early signs are 2020 will be bearish. Unemployment remains low, but there is uncertainty around underemployment represented in these figures, and if large employers continue to downsize or close, this will impact. Housing continues to benefit from the low interest rate environment and while our clients continue to apply for finance of all types, I’m seeing them make adjustments to live within their means and even paying down debt. They are opting against
luxuries like the latest TV, an expensive holiday or eating out as often, and this must have a ripple effect on the economy. Mark’s Shout: Economic cycles are nothing new – timings and depths may fluctuate, but the principles remain the same. What’s changed is we now take a snapshot of where we are at in isolation, giving it more emphasis and importance than is necessary. This year I don’t think the world will open up nor the sky cave in. But this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take a step back, evaluate the world around us and our place in it, and make the best decisions we can based on the information at hand.

I am proud of who I am and where I am from. What a wonderful ambassador she will be for all Australians wherever she goes and believe me this young lady is going to go a long way for years to come. Good on our little champion. Congratulations Ash. Why journalists try to sensationalise this day in some way every year is beyond me but I guess Journalists will say we are just doing our job. What a pity that their job is to feed on other people’s discomfort most of the time. We lost a great basket baller and his lovely little daughter yesterday. What a shame? Kobe was revered by those that watched him play and as he matured he became a legend in more ways than one in his sport. Kobe died with his little girl and 7 others in a helicopter crash. Vale to Kobe and the rest of the people that are now at rest. Every basketball fan will know of Kobe and appreciate his skills and great heart. Apparently, he is testimony to a constancy of endeavouring to improve how he did what he did every day. We can all learn from that. My condolences to his family. He and his little girl will be sadly missed by those that knew them but most of all by his wife, and sisters. So very sad.

PERFECT DURING A DROUGHT Raised garden beds are popular but not great during drought due to high demand for water. A raised wicking bed on the other hand is super water efficient and productive! Wicking beds store water within their base so the soil can absorb what it needs – while eliminating runoff or evaporation.
They are low maintenance as they catch water from rain and can be filled up and then left for a period of time without monitoring. Here’s a quick guide to making a wicking garden bed – for full details visit our website. 1. Buy or build a raised garden bed then line with thick plastic
