Anger at cruelty
The lead developer on Nepean Hospital’s new car park and mental health facility has gone into administration, leaving the projects at a standstill and workers in limbo. National Buildplan entered into voluntary administration on Monday, April 8, inciting anger in the community particularly amongst subcontractors working on the site who are now out of pocket, some by up to half a million dollars.
Sickening attack on kangaroo at local golf course

n unbelievable act of animal cruelty has been discovered on a local golf course, sparking outrage. Paul Jones, owner of the Colonial Golf Course in Werrington, was left shocked and angered after uncovering evidence of the attack last week. He found that people had trespassed onto his course and savagely killed a large, male kangaroo. “Last week I found the tail of a large kangaroo. It had been severed clean off, through the bone and left on the seventh fairway, Mr Jones said. “It was then a couple of days later that the rest of the kangaroo was discovered. It had been decapitated, the vertebrae in its neck crushed, it was the most brutal killing. “I don’t have a queasy stomach but this just made me sick. Mr Jones said that he couldn’t understand how people could have committed such a sickening act. “I have been feeling a mixed bag of emotions – I am very angry and upset by this and want to see the people who did this prosecuted, he said. WIRES Animal Rescue Volunteer, Greg Keightley, said that it was obvious the kangaroo had met with fowl play. “We can only hope that the mutilation of the kangaroo happened post mortem but even if that was the case it is still a terrible act, Mr Keightley said. “It was a kangaroo that was tagged as part of the macrofauna management plan for the former ADI site so I have reported the incident to National Parks and Lend Lease. Mr Jones is calling on the public to come forward with information. “We don’t have a fence along Christie Street so trespassing is a huge concern for me, Mr Jones said. In a separate incident, Mr Jones found a 4WD on the property trying to “mow down rabbits on the course last weekend. Mr Jones is actually looking to extend the golf course from nine holes to 18, and AKA Civil who have been contracted for the works have offered to put up a fence at no cost to protect the animals that call the course home.
