at 1-Altitude on Apr 27 and culminating at the New Asia Bar for House of Obsession with Funkerman and Pinnacle Whipped Vodka on May 30. Bursting into the global vodka scene in 2003, Pinnacle Vodka started off with the belief that vodka should be fun, smooth, pure, and non-pretentious. With that belief in mind, the taste of Pinnacle is not compromised – the brand has bloomed and was ranked the premium spirit worldwide based on growth in the past three years. “Pinnacle’s classic unflavoured vodka was the US market’s fastest-growing nonflavoured imported vodka in 2011,” says Alex Yong, Country Manager for Singapore. “Pinnacle is the number one growth brand among top 100 premium spirits brands worldwide for 2011 and we’re absolutely sure it’ll charm the taste buds of Singaporean cocktail-lovers!” he adds. Truly the pinnacle of French vodka, both flavours are made with pure spring water and the finest wheat grain in Brie, France. Pinnacle Whipped Vodka, launched in 2010, was hailed as the most successful flavour extension ever introduced in the US spirits market. Whether you are on a cosy date night in with or at a house party with friends, Pinnacle Whipped Vodka can tantalise your taste buds in a good mix for the night. Pinnacle Whipped Vodka and Pinnacle Vodka are available at The Beam Cellar, 229 Mountbatten Road, #01-03/07, Mountbatten Square, Singapore 398007.

f you have not visited Sarang Korean Bistro before, you might easily miss it as it is tucked in a quiet corner amidst the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road. Located on the seventh floor of Orchard Central, its full-length glass windows give the place an airy feel, and offer a bird’s eye view of Orchard Road. As I entered, what first caught my attention was how it gives the feel of dining close to nature. From the maple wooden floors, to the artificial greenery – temperate trees and a green wall – to the wooden benches and tables, it makes for a cosy gathering with friends or family, or to chill out after work.

Sayori Sashimi

Aligned with the aim of keeping Sarang uniquely Korean, most pieces of furniture were specially imported from Korea. The quirky chairs are weaved into otherwise uniform rattan seats so, if you look carefully, no two seats are the same. There is also a breezy, al fresco section. Along with its interior overhaul, the menu has also undergone a revamp after Head Chef Jung Yun Yur trawled the streets of upmarket Gangnam, Itaewon, Hongdae and Sinchon to get inspiration for a new menu with delectable offerings. One of the first Korean restaurants in Singapore, what is unique about Sarang is its recently rolled out tapas, and

Healthy Harmony

Sick of the usual cocktails and mocktails? These healthy options will do you good and spice up your life

Springtime for

Acclaimed mixologist Satoshi Iwai was in town for the recently-concluded World Gourmet Summit. He transformed herbal concoctions from Eu Yan Sang into tasty and thirst-quenching mocktails. Who says herbal drinks have to always taste nasty? This Dang Shen & Grill Tomato Martini (Mocktail) proves otherwise. Give it a try!

Kagoshima Pork Shabu Shabu Nabe

Ingredients • 1/4 slice of grilled tomato • 100ml of dang shen • 1/2 teaspoon of honey vinegar • 3 teaspoons of agave syrup • Wolfberry bubbles • Tomato slice (for garnishing)

Sushi Tei

Method 1. Mash the tomato. 2. Blend the dang shen and add it in. 3. Add Honey Vinegar and Agave Syrup. Shake it well. 4. Top with Wolfberries, infused into foam. 5. Garnish with the tomato slice. 6. Enjoy your mocktail by the beach.

Sushi Tei’s Spring menu delights with succulent Kagoshima Pork and fresh seasonal sashimi By Cheryl Chia It is seasonal delights galore with Sushi Tei’s Spring menu. The Japanese pride themselves in serving up the freshest and best produce of the season, and local Japanese food chain Sushi Tei does the same. Until Jun 15, juicy Kagoshima pork is the star of their Spring menu. Freshly imported twice a week from Kagoshima Prefecture, the pork is known for its sweet flavour and rich fragrance, delicate texture and juiciness. The Kagoshima Miso Yaki Pork ($11.50) is an accurate representation of the description. A juicy and tender pork loin is grilled after being marinated with miso sauce, with each slice lined with just the right amount of fat for a buttery finish. Also try the Kagoshima Tonkatsu ($12), a breaded and crispy fried pork cutlet, paired with smokey tonkatsu sauce. We also like the Kagoshima Pork Hamburger ($8) with 130g of finely-ground pork loin with chopped onions, carrots and a sprinkling of salt and pepper,

topped with Okonomiyaki sauce with a hint of sake that goes great with a bowl of Japanese pearl rice. If it is a particularly rainy day, indulge in the Kagoshima Pork Nabe ($15) with a selection of four soup bases: Shoyu, Miso, Spicy or Sukiyaki. We love the spicy base with the mixed vegetables and delicate slices of pork belly. The Kagoshima pork is also minced to create the Chinese style Zha Jiang Mian ($11.50) and even made into sushi such as the Pork Belly Temaki ($3.50). Also try their scotch egg-like Sunrise Meat Ball ($8.50), a minced pork ball with a salted egg yolk centre. If you prefer sashimi, apart from the array of sashimi moriwases you can order, the Sayori Sashimi ($12-$15), a sleek silver fish sashimi, is a springtime special that is eaten with a smidge of shoyu that cuts through the fishiness. The Spring season also brings Aji (horse mackerel) sushi ($14) to the menu. They'll even deep fry the remaining fish with the bones for you to crunch on after you're done. The Tako and Shirasu Yaki Udon ($13.50) is also a great single dish to order with generous

“the pork is known for its sweet flavour and rich fragrance, delicate texture and juiciness.” helpings of baby sardines, vegetables and octopus, all stirfried with a splash of Yakisoba sauce for sweetness. You can also switch the udon out for ramen if you wish. Not to be missed as well is their Kani Gyoza ($6), a crab meat stuffed dumpling, dipped in chilli oil and vinegar. Simply mmm… There is also an assorted array of desserts available on the Spring menu such as the Salt & Red Bean Ice Cream ($3.40), Matcha Waffle ($3.80) and the Cheese Stick Ice Cream ($3.40). We especially like the Chocolate Parfait ($6.50) filled with KoKoKrunch cornflakes and ice cream. For more, visit www.sushitei.com

how its food is tweaked to cater to Singaporean taste buds while preserving traditional Korean elements. One such dish is the Volcanic Chicken ($21), which features a fiery red dish of chicken marinated in the chef’s special spicy volcano sauce, served in a sizzling pan. The various shades of deep red and bright red should sound an alarm for those who can’t take spicy food, but it’ll be a delight for those who are accustomed to local favourites like chilli crab. We started off with refreshing cucumber soda, and a nondescript dish of Folded Eggs ($6.50) – Korean-style egg omelette with green chilli, cheese and vegetables. The Sarang Japchae ($7), which is a classic Korean dish of vermicelli noodles tossed in sesame oil, tasted as good as it was visually appealing. The noodles were chewy and comfortingly warm, and had a sticky, bouncy texture. The Kimchi Pancake ($8) made with aged kimchi and served with a light soy dipping sauce was yummy, spicy and delightfully crisp. It was so satisfying that I went for seconds, and thirds. The classic tapas came with a variety of cocktail pairings –

Watermelon Soju, Yuzu Makgeolli, Soju Bomb and Makgeolli Sprite ($12 single, $19 double). The cocktails were refreshing after the meats and fried dishes, and the flavours reduced the alcohol taste. I liked the Kiwi Soju, as well as the Lemon Soju and Yuzu Makgeolli, as they were subtle and not too overpowering. The modern tapas pairings were Makgeolli Mojito, Lemon Soju and red wine. Inspired by the typically-French dish, the Ginseng Chicken Terrine ($16) consists of spring chicken, dates, ginseng, garlic and ginseng broth. Dipped in a lovely, savoury pine nut sauce, it was flavourful, like a mouthful of concentrated ginseng chicken. It left a strong aftertaste... The vegetables on the side were delicious too. The mains were the Sarang Meat Lover’s Platter ($42), with an assortment of wine-marinated pork belly, rib eye steak, and honey yuzu chicken arranged artfully in a pan. I especially liked the steak with the house special kimchi sauce, and the scrumptious honey yuzu chicken. The Spoon Pizza ($8.50) is perfect for the ladies, as it comes with very little dough and is full of ingredients such as bell peppers, onions, cheese and volcanic

delights

chicken. The oven-baked pizza gratin is also convenient, as it can be eaten without using one’s hands – just scoop it up with a spoon. We also tried the Big Bang Bulgogi Burger ($16), which are basically small buns with grilled, seasoned bulgogi beef, caramelised onion, lettuce and tomato and a side of fries with a cheesy dip. This departed from the usual Bibimbap, and the beef was just right – not too tough or overcooked. My favourite was the Sarang Nachos ($9.50), which was as scrumptious as it looked even though it is traditionally Mexican fare. It came with generous yellow and brown drizzles of homemade bulgogi sauce, mayonnaise and marinated beef, adding texture to the otherwise crunchy dish. The okonomiyaki-style Scallion Pancake ($8.50) gave a fascinating twist to the Japanese dish. It was filled with seafood and bacon, and then drizzled with teriyaki sauce and bonito flakes. We had Hotteok ($8) for dessert: a sweet pancake filled with warm cinnamon sugar and served with vanilla and raspberry gelato, bringing a comforting, sweet end to the meal. W

Bite-sized lava cakes are not a myth, they exist in many flavours at Smoulder By Cheryl Chia Lava cakes – warm, gooey and decadent cakes that take you to heaven with one bite. Our only gripe? They are usually meant for sharing and you can only have one flavour. So, when we came across Smoulder, which specialises in multi-flavoured molten chocolate cakes in bite sizes, we were sold. Founder Peter Cai and his college mates were studying in London and, once in a while, they’d indulge in a lava cake in a café. They thought of a scenario where one could enjoy an entire box while lounging in pyjamas at home. “We decided all cakes should taste like that. But due to the high exchange rate back then, we could only have it once in a blue moon. We joked about starting a business and, in 2009, we talked about it again and took three years to realise our dream,” says Peter.

and yet being funny at the same time. I am definitely inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger. But I guess that has to remain my dream for now… Apart from playing Jojo Joget on the Noose, are any new characters in the works for you? Henderson Pooper, a panicky American-wannabe war correspondent, Mr Kannan, a tongue twister community leader, and a few other never-before-seen characters.

S

uhaimi Yusof, who burst onto the scene in 2001 as the funny sidekick of the late Hong Kong comedienne Lydia Sum on the Channel 5 sitcom Living With Lydia, has done fairly well for himself, starring in other local programmes such as Police and Thief, as well as other Malaylanguage programmes from sister channel Suria. His impeccable comedic timing has led him to play stereotypical Malay ‘newscaster’ Jojo Joget on The Noose since 2008. We catch up with him to find out what has been going on in the Noose world and what his dreams are.

You are known for your quick wit and humorous roles but what is your dream lead role? I've always wanted an actionpacked lead role. You know, the kind where you’re involved in car explosions, helicopter gun fights

Michelle Chong has since left The Noose. How has that changed the group dynamic on the set? Well, we kind of miss her too. She's very fun to be with both on and off camera. Each of us is like a finger on a hand. With one finger missing, you'll definitely feel the absence. So it's still functional but a little uncomfortable, I'd say.

a few years ago, I donated to three poor villages in Indonesia. My tears were rolling down my cheeks when the village orphans were pictured smiling with food in one hand and money in the other. We as celebrities can make a difference to the world. If you could be a super hero, who would you be and what would be your power? I want to be the Invisible Man. My super power will be used to beat every immigration department in the world so I can travel anywhere around the world without a passport and visa. Ha ha ha! What do you do on a typical weekend when you aren't working? Playing FIFA 13, and I use Liverpool to beat Manchester

United 13-0 over and over again. Yes, I repeat this every weekend I get. What are your future plans? To escape and buy a kampong house in a far, remote corner of the world and equip the house with state-of-the-art technology, with food stocked up enough to last me a decade. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life; this is an ultimate retirement plan. Hey, I'm serious. W

“I’ve always wanted an action packed lead role...”

You've worked with several prominent celebs over the years. Who has inspired you the most? Gurmit Singh is funny and smart at the same time. Mark Lee is an Ah Beng and a gentleman. My highest admiration is for both of them because they're very intelligent celebrities and very fun too. I learnt a lot of stuff from these two. What has been your proudest moment on the job? Using my income from a successful local comedy DVD production I produced and sold

Star Trek:

Into Darkness – visually stunning When the crew of The Enterprise returns home, they find that an unstoppable force of terror from within has destroyed the fleet and everything it stands for

Enemy From Within But all is not well. A devastating act of terror has exposed an alarming reality: Star Fleet is being attacked from within and the fall-out will leave the entire world in crisis. Captain Kirk leads the Enterprise on a mission spanning the Klingon home world to Earth. Kirk will lead them into a shadowy mirror-realm of doubts where they’ve never gone before – navigating the razor-thin lines between friends and enemies, revenge and justice, all-out war and potential for a united future. Old and New Faces Returning to the Enterprise is the crew: Chris Pine as Captain James T Kirk, Zachary Quinto as First Officer Spock, Karl Urban as Dr Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Simon Pegg as Chief Engineer “Scotty” Scott, Zoe Saldana as Communications Officer Uhura, John Cho as Helmsman Hikaru Sulu, and Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov.

Too many dogs in the world are abandoned and come a sorry end. Luckily, at least one special person is looking out for them Cesar Millan, the worldrenowned dog behaviourist is combatting the global issue of canine abandonment and giving “unadoptable” dogs a second chance at life in his new series, Cesar Millan’s Leader of the Pack. Following the wild success of his long-running series Dog Whisperer, Millan’s new show takes him to Spain where, each week, he transfers extreme canine cases to his new Dog Psychology Centre in Miraflores. In each episode, three candidates compete for the chance to adopt one special pup, with their dog skills put to the test in a series of special canine challenges. Meanwhile, Millan employs his “exercise, discipline and affection” method to overcome hurdles with dogs that are particularly skittish or aggressive, to painstakingly rehabilitate each one and prepare them for adoption. “Dog Whisperer had a passion, but Leader of the Pack has a mission,” says Millan. “My goal with this show is to awaken the world to how many dogs are euthanized in one year, how we kill them and how the world really treats what we call man’s best friend,” he says.

Through the series, Millan’s followers will learn how to find a compatible dog for their family. Here is a short excerpt of a recent interview with him. Which questions should a person who wants to adopt his or her first dog ask before making this decision? Number one is: “What is my life style? How many hours do I work?” Number two: Economical responsibilities, because a dog also has to have health care. So those two things you have to be very, very aware. what is the secret to whispering to dogs? I’m quiet; I’m silent when I’m meeting a dog for the first time. That is the biggest secret, the biggest ingredient, because the dog is going to tell you how it feels. Then, you wait for the behaviour. So, patience is number two. Number one is to be quiet, to be calm, when you meet a dog for the first time. Cesar Millan’s Leader of the Pack is on National Geographic Channel, every Wednesday, 10pm, SingTel mio Ch 201 or Starhub Ch 411.

MOVIE PREVIEW A cabin in the woods becomes a chamber of horrors when a group of friends unwittingly awakens a demon, in this highlyanticipated reboot of the cult film

Star Trek: Into Darkness begins with a homecoming, as the Enterprise returns to earth in the wake of a galactic incident.

Wisdom from the Dog Whisperer

Joining the cast is Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of the mysterious intergalactic terrorist and Alice Eve as ship newcomer Carol Marcus. A New Frontier Shot with extremely high resolution IMAX cameras and presented in an expansively detailed 3D conversion that pushes technology, the film gives audiences a glimpse into the Star Trek universe as hasn’t been seen before.

This marks the first time audiences will experience Star Trek eight-stories high and in three dimensions. Changes and Revelations When Starfleet is shattered by a terrifying attack, the crew must not only face the shadow side of Starfleet and a fearsomely brilliant new enemy, but will question the only thing they’ll be able to rely on in an unpredictable universe: each other. Says Producer Bryan Burk: “I think JJ has gone to the next step of complexity, so that people might leave the theatre after this one asking, ‘wow, that was a Star Trek film?’” Star Trek: Into Darkness [PG] Director: JJ Abrams Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Cho, Alice Eve Genre: Sci-Fi, Action, Thriller Run Time: 132 min Release Date: 16 May

Featuring a fresh young cast, Evil Dead is a bonechilling film that combines all the raw excitement and gleeful gore of the acclaimed original cult hit, The Evil Dead, with a series of shocking new twists. Mia (played by Jane Levy), a young woman whose life has been marred by loss and addiction, asks her brother David (played by Shiloh Fernandez), his girlfriend Natalie (Elizabeth Blackmore) and their childhood friends Olivia (Jessica Lucas) and Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci) to join her at the family’s rustic cabin to help her overcome her demons. The Plot Thickens Inside, they are shocked to discover that the abandoned cabin has been broken into. The cellar has been transformed into a grotesque altar surrounded by dozens of mummified animals. Eric becomes fascinated with an ancient book he discovers there. Enthralled by its mysterious contents, he reads aloud from it, never suspecting the terrifying consequences he

Evil Dead:

When malevolent forces rise is about to unleash. As Mia’s withdrawals worsen, she begins to unravel and attempts to flee, but is turned back by a frightening vision. At the cabin, her behaviour becomes so violent that her friends are forced to restrain her. Trapped by a dangerous storm raging outside, they begin to turn on each other one by one. As the brutality of their attacks increases, David is faced with an unimaginable choice. The Cast & Director Evil Dead stars Jane Levy (of TV sitcom Suburgatory), Shiloh Fernandez (of Red Riding Hood), Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers), Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker). Fede Alvarez makes his feature film directing debut with a screenplay co-written with Rodo Sayagues. The Original Film In 1981, The Evil Dead opened in theatres and drive-ins around the world, terrorising filmgoers, polarising audiences and launching the careers of director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert and actor Bruce Campbell. The Evil Dead surprised even

its creators by becoming a cult classic and a rite-of-passage into the horror-movie experience for millions of fans. The New Evil Dead The new film is a bold reimagining of one of the most original and successful horror movies ever made. With Raimi, Tapert and Campbell producing, Evil Dead is on track to terrorise a new generation of filmgoers with a combination of 21st Century technology and classic hard-core horror elements. “We had to shoot the first movie in 16mm. The sound was mono because we couldn’t afford stereo, let alone 5.1 surround sound. There were probably only 60 prints made, so it was released in very few theatres. It only showed in certain markets on the big screen because it was unrated. Even when it has been seen on a big screen, it was with compromised picture and sound,” says Raimi. Campbell warns, “This is a fullon, strap-yourself-in sort of ride. It gets more and more outrageous as it goes. And kids: if you find a book in a cabin in the woods, just turn around and drive away.” Raimi adds, “It’s the ultimate experience in gruelling terror. And I dare you to see it.” Evil Dead [R21] Director: Fede Alvarez Starring: Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore Genre: Horror Run Time: 90 min Release Date: 10 May

Here are some stirrings in the fashion world that you would need, want and love to know about Etam

Islean Valath, designer for Arc

Local brand Arc not only has a beautiful designer but a good eye for bringing out the best in your womanly figure

Wing Tai Retail debuted French lingerie brand Etam on May 3 at Wisma Atria, with a second store slotted for May 10 at Raffles City. Since 1916, Etam has been making feminine and functional inner wear for ladies using traditional lingeriemaking techniques. Mrs Helen Khoo, Executive Director of Wing Tai Retail says, “Etam is the perfect addition, embodying the timeless class and sophistication of French craftsmanship coupled with inventive designs to keep the brand fresh and appealing to women of all ages.” She adds, “It is a fashion-skewed lingerie brand that perfectly complements our existing portfolio of brands, and we are confident that it will appeal to savvy and sophisticated Singaporean women.”

By Cheryl Chia

The Arc

T

he perception of femininity may seem to be skewed toward the stick-thin models spotted on avantgarde runways but it’s time to bring back good ol’ self-confidence with well-designed aesthetics in your closet. Singaporean designer Islean Valath’s first line for Arc’s Spring/ Summer 2012 debuted with rich colours and a streamlined form to create a leaner yet curvier silhouette, similar to Stella McCartney’s much-heralded “magic dress”. “I have always been interested in architecture and the ideas that play with shape, form, composition; I'm especially fascinated by the juxtaposition between curves and linear shapes. I wanted to incorporate this into my clothes,” she says. She adds, “I began thinking of how an arc is in fact a curved line and how that is suggestive of a woman’s body. I came to really feel

of Style that the word ‘arc' represents both my minimalist design aesthetic, whilst communicating the driving force behind my design objective – to make clothes that accentuate the woman's form.” Her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection gleans inspirations from a post-apocalyptic world with futuristic silhouettes and monochromatic colours with hints of jewel tones – using materials such as Thai silk and wool toughened up with leather details. The pieces may come across as over-the-top but Islean begs to differ. She says, “I recently came across a bunch of women who, upon seeing the clothes, got really excited and wanted to get their hands on the designs immediately. They were all US Size 6-12.” “At the same time, I also met a slim ex-model who's now US Size 2, who was worried about pulling the pieces off. It's very interesting to observe – I can see it really is about self-worth and confidence.

Women whom do not live by what society thinks of them won’t fear the designs,” she adds. Since Arc started up in 2012, Islean has had excellent responses from women in the market including Singaporebased Australian celebrity model and host Yvette King, budding singer Sarah Cheng de Winne, and media personality Sara Ann Krishnamoorthy. Arc’s outfits range from $80 to $358. She says, “As a designer, I hope that people buy my clothes not merely because they want to support local… but they understand intrinsically the value of how much thought has been put into the creative process, and that they're paying for a very unique piece because we control and limit the total number of each design produced.” Visit www.arcival.com for more. Arc is also stocked at the Black Market at Orchard Central and MY-Thology on 88 Club Street. W

“Singapore Dental Health Foundation extols the benefits of regular dental check-ups as most dental problems progress at a slow pace...”

We speak with dental care expert Dr Helena Lee for tips and tricks to enhance your smile By Cheryl Chia

We’ve been told to death on the proper way to brush our teeth and prevent bad breath, since we were children in primary school. But how many of us bother to actually remember beyond merely brushing our teeth twice a day? There is more to cleaning your teeth than giving it the old onetwo brushstrokes every day. Dr Helena Lee, a Dental Specialist in Periodontics with Specialist Dental Group says, “Most people only brush their teeth but skip flossing. Flossing removes food particles and plaque from between teeth. Any leftover particles not picked up by a toothbrush in these difficult to access areas between teeth can cause decay and gum disease.” Dr Lee adds, “Some also have a misconception that a hard toothbrush is best, when in actual fact it is too abrasive for the gums.” Plaque is an accumulation of bacteria that is always present in the mouth, which can be kept at bay with frequent brushing and flossing. Dr Lee warns, “Bleeding gums (during brushing) is a sign of gum disease. Relook into your dental care and visit your dental specialist.” The Singapore Dental Health

Foundation also extols the benefits of regular dental checkups, as most dental problems progress at a slow pace and they are usually asymptomatic. Thus, routine dental visits might help to pre-empt or treat existing conditions quickly. Dr Lee, who has also worked on the Smile More Singapore campaign for Oral-B, also encourages using an appropriatesized toothbrush for your mouth as “too big a brush means the back-most teeth are missed out and not cleaned properly”. She also suggests a softer-bristled toothbrush gentle enough for the gums and for cleaning teeth properly. If you find flossing too much of a hassle, make it easier by investing in a floss-holder to reach all your teeth easily. People with braces should use the specially-shaped brushes for braces. “Simply look into the mirror, work the brush both above and below the orthodontic brackets. Then, use inter-dental brushes to reach between the brackets,” says Dr Lee. She also advises rinsing your mouth with water after drinking strong drinks such as tea, coffee

or wine to prevent extrinsic discolouration. The Singapore Dental Health Foundation also says that a greyish-coloured tooth might be a result of deeper problems such as a “dead tooth” or decay. Intrinsic discolouration can be treated with either a root canal, in the case of a dead tooth, or internal bleaching. A growing wisdom tooth can be a pain in more than a physical sense, and it requires proper care. Dr Lee says, “Apart from brushing

well, use an antiseptic mouth rinse. More importantly, see a dental surgeon for X-rays, because a partially-impacted wisdom tooth should be removed before the infection becomes an emergency.” Dr Helena Lee is a Dental Specialist in Periodontics with Specialist Dental Group, Singapore. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer with the National University of Singapore.

Tulipmania In a special collaboration between KLM and Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, 14 tonnes of tulips (about 48,000 bulbs) were shipped from The Netherlands to Singapore via KLM Cargo. These tulips, iconic symbols of The Netherlands, have been on display at the Tulipmania exhibit at the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay. To celebrate Mother’s Day, KLM had also imported 2,500 tulip stalks that were given out at Raffles Place as part of the KLM Loves Mum Campaign. KLM in Singapore Founded in 1919, KLM is the oldest international airline in the world. It began to write history in the Southeast Asian region in the early 1930s when it took the lead in the development of air services between Europe and the Far East. Singapore’s strategic location allowed it to develop into a port of call and stopover for flights heading for the Dutch East Indies. The Tulipmania exhibit is on until May 20.
