The show goes on! The Horsham Show continues today, with day two to feature plenty of fun, activities, rides and animals.
Windy weather affected the Horsham Show yesterday, but Horsham Agricultural Society secretary Andrea Cross said organisers were hoping for a huge crowd today. Yesterday’s wild weather should disappear today, with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting a partly cloudy day with a top of 17. “The weather had a huge impact on our numbers but we’re sure everyone is just waiting for the storm to pass to come along to day two of the show,” she said. Equestrian events, a kidzone, pet show and side show alley, plus plenty of competitions and demonstrations will be on show today. Representatives at a Victoria Police stand will also be on hand to give advice on career opportunities. James Henwood’s attempt at the world’s biggest vanillwa slice starts at 10am today, with leftovers used in a custard eating competition tonight. The show theme continues across the region with Murtoa show on Friday, Goroke Saturday and Rupanyup next Wednesday.
GOOD TIMES: Imogen, Mandy and Oscar Cameron enjoy Horsham Show. Top Left, Cody Mackley has his face painted by clown Wayne Lentsment; and bottom left, Grady McCourt has fun in the animal nursery.

Dr Mollah thanked Wimmera residents for their help with the mosque. “The architect, builder, brick layer, plumber, electrician, carpenter, window maker, fencing contractor, sign writer and many others helped us to design this beautiful landmark – the
first mosque not only for Horsham but the whole region,” he said. “Horsham Jam-e Masjid, or Horsham Mosque, is the sign of a friendly and harmonious Wimmera community. “It shows friendship, tolerance and justice towards all. “Harmony makes small things grow, lack of it makes things decay. “A mosque is place of serenity, tranquillity, peace and calm. “It is a place for all men, women, young and old, Muslim and non-Muslim. It is a place for the community to connect with each other.”

orsham Islamic Welfare Association has extended its hand in friendship – inviting the public to an open day at the Wimmera’s first mosque.
The newly built mosque, in Stawell Road Horsham, is now completed, and will open its doors to the public from 7pm on October 25. Member for Lowan Hugh Delahunty and Horsham Mayor David Grimble will be among invited guests to a friendship dinner and formal opening prior to the mosque being opened to
the public. Horsham Islamic Welfare Association president Dr Mahabubur Mollah said visitors would have an opportunity to observe Muslim prayers inside the mosque at sunset. “The objective of the day is to find out a bit more about Muslim faiths and enhance friendship and harmony in our wider Wimmera community,” he said. “Horsham Islamic Welfare Association is a non-profitable and nonpolitical organisation, which provides services to Muslim communities and members of the wider community in

Dr Mollah said the mosque also had a positive economic impact on the community. “Muslim travellers stop in Horsham to pray, fill up cars, go shopping and buy foods,” he said. “Horsham Islamic Welfare Association have contributed two beautiful and popular kebab shops, another reason for all people to take a break from their journey in Horsham.” Dr Mollah asked people interested in attending the mosque’s open day to RSVP before October 17 for catering purposes.
